This is a hole-in-the-wall type place. Nothing even remotely glamorous about it; just a little bar, a pizza oven and an ice cream counter. The pizzas are OK, the ice cream very tasty. But it's dirt cheap! Pizza, ice cream and wine for two: EUR18. Be prepared that no-one working there speaks English.

Beautiful courtyard location with romantic lighting and a calm, relaxing atmosphere. The staff were all very friendly and did their best to translate into English for us which was greatly appreciated. The food itself was simple but of a high standard ( the swordfish was excellent). Really lovely village location as well so well worth a visit if you are staying in this part of Salento

Locanda Riccomaggio is a real find! We were staying at b&b DonnaGiulia in Cursi for the second time. Our hostess, Ada, recommended that we try out this place for lunch. She told us that the portions were very generous and all are home cooked. The restaurant is located on a back road outside the village of Cursi. We used our GPS and kept our eyes peeled for signs that showed the direction. We didn't know enough to order only one item. Instead we the apetizer, primo and secondo and without exaggeration, it would have easily fed 5 people!Afterwards the owners son took us around the property showing us all the items that they grow and use in the restaurant. Before leaving he picked a bag full of oranges and lemons for us.We recommend this place highly!!

Review of LâOsteria del SoleWe just got back from a delicious dinner of prepared seafood dishes at LâOsteria del Sole in Carpignano Salento on via Verdi. I had the ravioli filled with a fish called âcerniaâ and topped with a sauce of local grape tomatoes and diced bits of swordfish. It was very creative and exquisite, not to be missed. Chef Francesco spoke with us for awhile to recount his years in Paris and Davos, Switzerland, where he cooked for the famous and pretentious and how he longed for the simple and genuine setting where he could raise his daughters and grandchildren without stress. Lucky for us we found each other in Salento in southern Italy. Our thanks to Roberta, his middle daughter, who served us with charm and good cheer. We highly recommend this pleasant restaurant to anyone passing along the road between Otranto and Gallipoli.

I was extremely lucky to be introduced to this hidden gem by a friend and had returned three times in 10 days since. The owner is incredibly friendly, the food fresh, healthy and reasonably priced.I am a vegetarian. Although their specialty is meat, there are many veggie dishes on the menu. I have tried the "nonna Consiglia" antipasti (fresh local produce, a selection of cheeses including fried ricotta (a first time for me). For main meal I have had lentils, peas and chicory. The portions are very generous. Everything I've tasted was delicious, no fault. My friends had meat and they all seemed very pleased with their choices. The meal usually ends with homemade liquors offered by the house. If you're lucky as we were Tania (the owner) will sit down and have a lovely chat with you.

Attentive, eager, enthusiastic and keen to show the best of they and region do, this is the antithesis of my recent review of GUSTO - this is "we think we do well - but we want to show you! The language skills here are no better or worst than GUSTO in nearby Castrignano de Greci - but here they work enthusiastically to understand, (pointing and gesturing to ensure you get the best of what they do, and what you ask for. First - no matter what may be on the menu - go and check the chef's butchery display in the back - you will not be disappointed. I could go back night after night just to keep going through the tender, stuffed and filled, beef, lamb and pork cuts which are cooked to taste, of the highest standard and an absolute delight. Subtle, cured and aged to perfection, there is nothing "beyond repair", but the balance of flavours hints at "there is a real italian home cook at work". At the next table a local Italian family there for a birthday - with attentive and appropriate services. Our kids had pizza - and it was clear that time, attention to (specific 9-year detail on what is okay on pizza), was taken. A good regional wine list was presented - however when asked for a recommendation, I was recommended a cheaper, local wine rather than the 'big name" regional leader which was my first, educated guess: Without a doubt it was superior, and bottles went into every suitcase meet import limits at home. Book, get there early; and if in your own vehicle ask the restaurant to hold a parking spot nearby. This is an old, traditional Italian village centre, and parking is limited. I would, with no hesitation, go back, eat and recommend the same menu again - and I am confident that the whole family would walk in and say "same again please".

We have a second home in Salento and have tried many local restaurants. The standard is this area is high and hidden in the back streets of Martano is this absolute gem. We had dinner first as a couple and enjoyed every course, the risottoâs are excellent and I had fresh fish as part of the â catch of the dayâ. Delicious! My husband loves pizza and he believes this is the best ever! Thin crust, very tasty toppings.. 10 out of 10! The service is exceptional too and all so good that I returned 2 days later with 5 local lady friends for lunch. Everybody loved it, especially my Italian friends who loved the pasta dishes. Needless to say, we are returning again and now have âOperaâ down as a regular for the future.

The Pittula is a traditional delicacy of Salento cuisine made with a few simple ingredients, which in its simplicity manages to win everyone's palate. And it is precisely this concept of simplicity that inspired us to create this project. The Pittula do n

Very nice restaurant in the center of Serrano.Great staff, English spoken. Small door on the street, but large room on the ground floor and open terrace on the roof. Home made Italian kitchen, large menu, very nice antipasti buffet. Interesting dishes of the day such as pasta with lobster or dorade in salt crust.Excellent value for money!

Nestled in an ancient palace dated back to the 18th century in the hearth of Galatina, in the province of Lecce, our restaurant Anima & Cuore is a really nice and confortable restaurant, with its starry vaults and mosaic floor which remind of the local hi
This restaurant was highly recommended by our hotel and the setting on the rooftop was beautiful. We did not have a reservation but we eat early (7:30 )and we were seated right away. The food was OK but not our favorite and the wine was nice but pricey. Lots of staff around but we had to pour our own wine which was weird. Buone cose Alessandro De Pascalis
