Reviews on Italian food in Port El Kantaoui, Sousse Governorate, Tunisia. Constructed in 1979 as a holiday resort, Port El Kantaoui is a playground of chic boutiques, beaches, golf courses and waterfront restaurants on the central Tunisian coast. Activity buzzes around the marina where Mediterranean jetsetters dock their yachts. Cobblestone streets and Moorish-Andalusian architecture provide North African flavor in a tourist-friendly environment. For a more authentic look at Tunisia, the port city of Sousse is only a 10-minute taxi ride away.

It's set back from the main road down a paved drive and resembles a lean too with a little garden at the back; but don't judge it by outward appearances. The food is great and the greeting is warm and welcoming. This is an Italian restaurant specialising in pasta (NOT pizza) and fresh fish or seafood/baby crab. Local fish is white and either Dourade or Loupe. As far as I know it's salad and bread not a plate of chips, so be aware of that. Normally there's a choice of 2-3 desserts - again all tasty - that's if you can manage anything afterwards as the portions are generous. Coffee is nice too. The secret of it's success is a menu that relies on simple, fresh cuisine, nicely cooked. They make their own pasta on the premises and everything is bought fresh daily. Nothing is put into a freezer. You can see everything being prepared and cooked. Range of soft drinks and alcohol. I tried the house Rose which I really loved. Reasonably priced. Last time I went was with a friend and we had two large side salads, fresh tuna main, pasta ribbons with mussels and baby crab main, basket of bread, a glass of wine, bottle of water, two desserts and a coffee for 65 tnd (£22.50) Dined there twice already and certainly a place I'll be returning to.

One of my top three Sousse restaurants. Great food, nice welcome and high level of security. Consistency of food quality and portion size is excellent. Popular with overseas visitors and locals alike. Great for friends to hang out, families to gather, or if you want a romantic dinner a deux. I especially love this place in summer to enjoy sitting outside on the terrace with a view of the sea which is opposite the restaurant. I've tried several things on the menu ranging from a melange of starters, to pasta dishes, risotto, salads and chicken dishes. None have ever disappointed and from time to time a side portion of chips to share with a friend - the best we can find in Sousse! All main meals are accompanied with a courtesy basket of bread, olives and a couple of small dips. A reasonable choice of alcoholic drinks too. Service is just right... there when you need them but never feeling rushed if you want to linger or relax and enjoy the sun and the sea view. The servers, who we now know quite well, go to great lengths to make sure we're comfortable and the umbrellas outside are arranged to give as much shade as possible once temperatures rise. And my usual bug bear in Sousse - lack of decent toilets - but here you will be fine as they are clean and well maintained! ENJOY.

We were 4 guests dining at the resaturant, we reserved a table the day before. Its a popular restaurant anf mostly fully booked. We were welcomed at the door and shown our table at once. A very nice round table decorated with fresh flowers spread on and at the table. We had a no waiting time fore the headwaiter came to bring the menu card. The other waiter mr Nejib placed the serviets under the plates , very conveniently. We ordered Turkey in orangesauce File mignon to dinner. We had redwine to the dinner. 2 bottle Magon vieux, and some water. First we had some simple mezza, mini brik, tartine, harrissa, tuna and some other things served with local oil and freshbread with and cereal , very tasty. We waited 10-15 minutes(a little to fast to eat the mezza) and the food was brought to our table on small transport tables. . The red wine was DECANTED in some nice decanter before serving, very good. The dinner was served under a serving dome to look nice and keep it warm(god thinking)We had sauce champignion and bernaise . Very tasty , especilly the homemade bernaise. The meet was tender and medium done as we asked fore. The ladies had the Turkey with the orangesauce , witch the lovey, meet very tender and served also with extra sauce beside. We had a waiter nearly all the time behind the table(at a discreat distance) Not pushing fore anything. so thats ok.We enjoyed the place, nearly fullybooked.we had crepe suzzette with icecreme flamebee in Grand mamier .. very nice and tasty, not to much. The ladies had Dark choclate on a cake with ice, nice taste. We had some coffee and free served local tibarin (licoer).Al the meal was exelent. The serving staff made a great job, not to much or to little. The music , Tunisien floklore was nice ...but maybee to loud when during dining..a little bit less loud would bee nice. The toilet was clean and tidy at the time we arrived , but sholud have a renovation to live up to the nice restaurant reputation... The standard allover was really exelent this friday evening. KEEP up the standard.

We visited the place middayVery empty at this time , just 5 guests and us 3 pax.We had a table just inside the door..nice with fresh air..many..maybe all cafes and restaurants allow smokers all over.. A VERY BAD THING..well the servant was very pleasant and helpful..we had some beers and cola zero. Salad , bread, small Tunisien tapas. We had the local brick...very crispy and well done. It's like fillone with egg tuna onion and mash potato inside with Tunisia spices..+we had tomatosallad. It was nicely served and was really tasteful. The service was good and we got a nice "home" feeling. The toilet was ok but no paper to dry hands. The price was very good..cheap place...cost and relaxing placeMany thanks for your valuable comment Sten, and for taking the time to publish it ..Your good words will encourage us to do even better ..I did not quite understand your note ânice with fresh air..many..maybe all cafes and restaurants allow smokers all over.. A VERY BAD THING" ..We are a no-smoking restaurant ..Maybe you are referring to the smell of incense which comes from burning light sticks of amber (smoke), which we feel is in harmony with the arabesque style and character of the restaurant and the âspiritâ of the whole ancient Medina ..Also, whenever a customer informs us of his/her discomfort of said fragrance/smoke, we remove it immediately.Regarding your note âno paper to dry handsâ, itâs really strange as the paper towel dispenser is verified every 20mn all day long, and so are the toilets. We keep a large stock of paper towels, toilet paper and other janitorial consumables at all times. On behalf of the whole Dar Soltane team, to whom I passed your message, it was a pleasure to welcome and serve you ..We hope to see you again ..!

On my recent trip to Sousse I had coffee in S&K two or three times a day.It is a lovely coffee shop on main road with reasonably priced food & drinks.I enjoyed the pastry selection for breakfast with an espresso or a club sandwich with a Latte :)I would definitely recommend a visit

Steak was beautifully cooked, however most restaurants seemed not to be able to cook lamb chops, too underdone, therefore inedible. You do get a free starter of bread and various tunisian dips and olives. Had Pastise, meal, coffee and bouchka and the cost was only just oover £30

We found this place whilst wandering in the port looking for somewhere for our evening meal. We was given a warm welcome and they supplied us with lovely entrees and amazing cocktails. I ordered the beef fillet, now I like it rare and many people get this very wrong. What arrived was a huge beef fillet and I mean huge cooked to perfection. Every single bit on the plate was delicious right down to the vegetables. It was my birthday, they sang happy birthday, provided us with a little suprise pudding and dressed the table with flowers. They even brought out a TV so the boys could watch the football match. Honestly they couldn't do enough for you, the prices were so reasonable for the food that was given... A bargain. Everything about the place I loved and would definatly recommend to others :)
