There's a long backstory here that I won't dwell on -- this shop used to part of the Upper Crust upscale pizza chain, which imploded after The Boston Globe started reporting on its treatment of Brazilian workers. The authorities began investigating, the partners began squabbling...it all fell apart. This particular Upper Crust was franchised, so it was not part of the corporate structure that attracted the bad publicity. Nonetheless, the name was tainted.Reinvented as Top Crust quite awhile ago, we were distinctly unimpressed on our first few visits -- inconsistency was the main problem. This pizza is not cheap,. so expectations are high. We're happy to report that Top Crust now knows how to make delicious super-thin crust pizza exactly right, and every time. Nothing in the region comes close to the pies here. There's a counter to sit at, some window stools, and a row of cramped tables along one wall, so don't come expecting a sophisticated ambience [better lighting, a paint job, etc. could help a lot toward correcting this]. Many people prefer takeout. We actually enjoy sitting at the counter, chatting with the staff [always friendly and attentive] and enjoying a glass of wine or Mayflower Golden Ale. Our only complaint about the wine is that sometimes the partially-opened bottles are either not stored properly or are simply too old -- the wine has tasted stale. We've rejected a couple glasses and asked for a pour from a fresh bottle. The staff was happy to make things right.Aside from its fabulous crispy crust, Top Crust pizza boasts a tomato sauce that is tasty but not overwhelming, nor too sweet. We like our pizza with fresh basil, mozzarella and sliced tomato, or with grilled red peppers. It's never greasy, so you don't leave with that "I should have stopped one slice earlier" feeling. This place came close to the edge, but it's back now and deserves more business.

Toscana Ristorante

The server/owner (and chef?) here is quite nice, but clearly needs some help - she has only the slimmest grasp of how to run a proper restaurant. If her enthusiasm matched her skills, this place would be something else. But she should know that a bonafide chef is needed. Everything - from the chintzy decor to the moldy feel of the interior to the cliched Italian music pumping through cheap speakers, to news of a terrorist attack playing over and over from a TV above the rinky-dink bar - it was all more than a bit off. When we walked in, there was only one other party inside, and this was a Saturday evening. Bad sign, yes, yet we persisted. Our red wine was served chilled. Another omen. The bread made the cheap stuff at Mamma Mia's (the epitome of boring, lazy Italian cuisine) down the road seem tasty. On the plus side, there were only two lousy slices to ignore. The salads were drowned in balsamic vinegar. Our entrees were bland, accompanied by a nondescript tomato sauce that pretty much doomed whatever it was covering. Also, the prices are far too high for this kind of mediocrity.Oh, and that other party - it was led by a woman whose shrill voice never let up the entire time we were there, as she tried to goad two small children into eating their meatballs. "So good, yum-um, so good..." It went on for 90 minutes. Imagine Marge Simpson with a few glasses of chianti under her belt. No exaggeration. We complained to our server, who did nothing about it. One other couple came through the door during our visit - they looked around, heard the woman cackling about meatballs, and left. Smart people. I hope this isn't overly mean, but we spent $100 and felt cheated. The server/owner either doesn't need to make money, or is delusional about her prospects. We felt badly for her, but not bad enough to ever set foot in Toscana again. It's unfortunate - there's nothing we like more than to support local restaurants where the owners are on site.

The bar was packed, we sat in the nearly empty dining room about 8:30 on a weeknight. Fresh rolls with butter immediately brought to the table. Fried calamari with pepperconcini & olive oil was a decent starter, we split spaghetti and meatballs. Sauce and pasta average, but the huge meatball was amazingly good. Portions are enormous. Ok wine list, extensive martini/margarita selection. Washed it down with a couple glasses of Cabernet. Very affordable for the Pinehills. Will definitely return.

Stracco's

I have been here a couple of times and forgot to write a review. I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwiches each time I visited. I brought a friend today and we each got subs (1-Italian and 1-Roast Beef)...DELICIOUS! I had my bread toasted and so good. Sandwiches are great size so I can eat half now and save half later. Of course, when I come to Stracco's have to leave with a dessert for later. Today was chocolate covered lobster claw....OMG...So Good! If you have never been there are no seats inside - only two tables outside so be prepared to go sit by the waterfront and enjoy the scenery. Everything I have ever gotten there I have enjoyed. Will definitely go back. Love to support local businesses when I can.

Olive Garden

Reviewed By JohnTlu

It has been several years since my wife and I have been to an Olive Garden. We were pleasantly surprised by the attentive service and the quality of the food. We both love salad, and we got the unlimited salad with our dinners. Quite the large bowl of salad it was; very fresh, crisp lettuce and lots of grated cheese on top. It was so good, we got another bowl of salad to split between us. Okay, we ate enough salad for 6 people. And the bread sticks, enough for six people. The spaghetti I ordered with marinara sauce was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was nicely done, The meatballs were excellent too. My wife ordered rigatoni with white mushroom sauce and meatballs. Her meal was also tasty and a good portion as well. All in all, we were very happy with our visit. Go there for the classy atmosphere, where the wait staff really spends time with you. Don't be afraid to get as much salad and bread sticks as you can eat when you order an entrée. My only questionable observation was the hostess who seated us. She kept buzzing around the dinning room, and looked like a cross between the local library lady, Sister Margarita, and a secret service agent, talking at times into a small microphone in her hand. A bit annoying. Otherwise, a nice visit,

This restaurant is off the beaten path -- for Plymouth, Mass., that is. It's small and up in North Plymouth, but it's worth visiting. The service is personal and attentive, the prices are great, and the food is wonderful! I highly recommend the entrees we got -- the risotto with mushrooms and chicken, and any of the salmon dishes. Based on just those two, I'd trust anything on the menu to be good. Also, the server's recommendations for wine were great.

This was my second trip to this restaurant in Plymouth. The first time I was impressed by the serving size, dinner plate would feed two. My husband and I are on vacation on the Cape and I thought he’d really like it.I’d nearly finished my lunch size portion and lo and behold.... there’s a beetle in my food. Ugh. The manager was nice enough, took it off the bill and offered another dinner to go. I took the dessert. She kind of brushed it off with a shrug and said ‘summer’ . Needless to say, I would NOT recommend this place. Hi momonvacaCt, we are extremely sorry about your experience during your visit. We have forwarded this to the owner and management to look into. We hope you give us another chance in the future.
