As an Ostend resident, I am aware of plenty of tourist traps. Italian restaurants seem to evolve towards that category easily, but not the Picobello. My partner chose the 'Frutti di Mare', which came with some nice pieces of salmon on top of the regular sea food. I myself had a 'Picobello', which was just as perfect as its name said. It came with a generous but balanced topping of ham, salami, gorgonzola and peppers (paprika). At 8.50 and 9.50 EUR respectively, a simultaneous treat for the taste buds and the wallet.

We went here for a later dinner on a Monday night, based on the reviews on Tripadvisor, without a reservation, and the place was packed. The first waiter that we encountered ignored us totally, multiple times. Another waiter came to our rescue, and we managed to get the last table. Even though it was a full house, wait times for our dinner were reasonable. The wait staff was not all very friendly, only the gentlemen who appeared to be the owner went to extra trouble. The food was nothing special, and the prices were, typically Belgian coast, on the higher side. We left with mixed feelings.

In the center of Mariakerke (Ostend), opposite the church of Ensor and its quiet neighborhood is the Divino Rosso restaurant. The restaurant, traditionally Italian, with a cozy interior offers a cuisine tasting typical dishes combining flavors and contras
I had divine Tortellini Spinaci, my partner was more than delighted with her rich Pizza Frutti di Mare. On top of everything, we are convinced that Ostend finally has another 'real' Italian restaurant: one of our neighbours enjoyed a Spaghetti alla Carbonara WITHOUT CREAM.Grazie

Vintage pizza & pastabar . Unseen & Equal choice for vegetarians , Vegans and carnivores . ! Different and delicious !
It's a rare restaurant where both meat eaters and vegans can eat AND both leave satisfied. But this is one. Very friendly staff, excellent service. The food is italian/mediterranean inspired (pastas, pizza) and tasty. Don't expect a truly authentic culinary experience, that's not what you'll get here. But for those valuing a good square meal when in 'mixed' company, by al means, go and have a try. My wife had the non-veg spaghetti bolognese and I went with vegan pasta with chill sin carne sauce. Both dishes were very good, certainly taking into account the very reasonable price. They also offer some really tummy looking veg/vegan deserts but those will be for next visit.

second visit. We had the first shift, which means 18.00-20.00. It's sufficient time for starters (portobello with ricotta and foie gras), a main course (try the pasta parigiana made in the dining room) and dessert (the vanilla ice cream with meringue for instance). Nice affordable wine list. Friendly staff.

A warm welcome by the friendly staff, nice setting (though a more dimmed light at evening would make everything so much cosier). Very intersting Italian winelist at reasonable prices. We went for correct burrata, a very good (smoked) pasta vongole and tasteful ravioli with crab. As main course, we had perfect sea bream in salt crust: juicy and tasteful. Some dishes, such as the carpaccio and the zabaglione, are prepared at your table. One of the better Italian restaurants!

Close to the Casino and the beachfront
we had take away pizza. Order in advance, since the place tends to get very crowdy in the evening. We had 4 different pizzas: thin crust, decent toppings. Friendly staff.

My sister and I wanted to find a special place to eat while we were planning a short break in Ostend to celebrate our Birthday. We found this beautiful little place while looking on Trip Advisor and so we booked in advance before our journey began. This is by far the best Italian we have ever had anywhere. Starting with a two person antipasti to share which was absolutely amazing..... followed by a vegetarian pasta dish that was also fantastic. The food was extremely fresh and absolutely delicious ! cooked to perfection and presented very well. The antipasti is an absolute must which we would highly recommend. The portion was so big that we could not eat all our pasta due to being too full. The service was very good and the young lady who served us explained the dishes and the wine list perfectly. This really is a first class little Bistro that was both cozy and welcoming. We would travel all the way back to Ostend just to eat here again.
