Conveniently located right off the interstate, this place is a good stop off place for lunch or dinner, while still catering to the locals. The ambiance is bland....cafeteria look with a bunch of tables in a large room. But once past that, the food is actually quite good. Pizza comes thick or thin (get the thin though). Toppings and cheese are plentiful, without being overbearing. And the sauce is excellent, with that nice homemade taste. Of note was the pepperoni pizza, loaded with thick slices of pepperoni, not the paper thin bagged wafer version that many places offer. Sausage and mushroom pizza was the same....loaded with good ingredients. They have a take out counter to the right and dining to the left so take your choice. Everything tasted fresh here. Check it out.

We're dedicated to providing our customers with the freshest ingredients and top service in the area!
We used to frequent Fioreâs in Old Saybrook but stopped going due to poor service, dull menu offerings and their prices. Went with friends the other day because another restaurant had s long wait & we could get right in. Gone are the days when the restaurant was packed. Our waitressâ attitude was chilly and abrupt. The chicken dishes, while abundant, were tough. Pasta was obviously pre-boiled and reheated as it was mushy and tasteless. Last dig - what kind of Italian restaurant doesnât serve espresso? Wonât be headed back anytime soon.

Alforno Trattoria is a family-friendly restaurant run by a friendly family of Italian-Americans. We have a deep love for food and an even deeper love for sharing that food with our community. At Alforno, everything from our stocks to our bread is homemade
Has been my favorite for years. Tonight stopped by and waited for 45 minutes without bring seated. I had called ahead but was told they donât take reservations but not to worry, there would be no issues. It looked less like a problem with too many people but more a disorganized staff. Tables full of dirty dishes and unhappy diners. Hope they get their groove back. I wonât be returning for quite some time.

I gotta give props to Connecticut for pizza.Frank Pepe rocks and I had excellent gluten free pizza at Mondo Mondo in Middletown. Grimaldiâs in North Haven is quite good also.Pizza Works and Suds did not disappoint. And I have had a lot of great pizza in my life. In NYC: Johns, Patsyâs, Lombardiâs, Pizza Fresca, etcStaff was knowledgeable, friendly and cooperative when we inquired about gluten free choices and methods. It was great for my teenage sons and their friends. The pizza was very tasty.I would definitely go back.

The farther you get away from New York and New Haven, the scarier pizza can become (not always....I said 'can come'...so relax). This place is an exception. The pizza here is wonderful....if you like Greek style (which I do). Nice crust, on the thick side but still crunchy. Great toppings and cheese. Real sausage and nice quality pepperoni. And get a salad while you're at it....they're huge!!! We did takeout but the place is about as typical as you can get...cozy, warm and, well, just a neighborhood pizza place. The staff at the register at least were incredibly nice too. Check it out. Can't wait to go back.

I met a friend here for Happy Hour. This place seems to be fairly popular with the locals and there were quite a few regulars. At 5:30, 1/2 hour after they opened the place was empty but filled up rather quickly. Service was at lease good and waitress was fairly attentive. We only ordered a pizza which was quite tasty but not too different. Prices were a bit high.

If you want an old-style Italian pig-out, this is the place., Charming decor, good service, with an Italian pasta, chicken, veal, etc., and pizza menu. After recovering from the flu, my wife and I needed a pick-me-up - TJ's hit the spot. Servings are huge - each one could easily serve two. The pizza is Greek-style - very nice. The Chicken Florentine was extremely tasty, lots of chicken with spinach and pasta.. Only downer was the wine - small selection, and only middling quality. Also, get there by 6 on a Saturday night, as the dining room is small. Otherwise you may face a long wait.

We went there for lunch as there were great reviews. There was a large dining room to escape the heat. The food was delicious and the portions enormous-we ate our lunch for dinner also. Loved the bread, the salad and the entrees. Had great food for my vegetarian son, would very much recommend and come back when in the area!!!

After spending the day at Mohegan Sun, we stopped into Pasta Vita with the intention of exploring the offerings. We were surprised by the variety. There are soups, salads, sandwiches and desserts that can be eaten immediately. There are many meals ready to be purchased and cooked for an easy dinner and there are frozen meals for later use. I inquired how long the frozen meals could be stored before being eaten and it worked out perfectly for buying lasagna, chicken piccata and other meals for my pregnant daughter. A delicious hot meal after the baby is born will make there life easier. We also purchased eggplant rollotini and cheesy cauliflower for a vegetarian family member to have during our Christmas dinner allowing me to not have to prepare two different meals. The eggplant was so good that everyone wished I had bought more. Check it out. Youâll be glad you did!

Just on the western fringes of Niantic, with excellent free parking, is Charlies Place. Our early Wednesday evening dinner was a mix of Italian and American dishes that were well proportioned, tasty and reasonably priced. The dining crowd was on the light side (5:45pm ?) and the service was excellent. We had a 7pm appointment in the village and the waitstaff accommodated that requirement with a smile. We'd be pleased to come back and dine again.
