Of all the restaurants in the area surrounding Montegnacco in Friuli, we have found the cuisine above average at Osteria di Villafredda in nearby Loneriacco. The menu includes dishes, at reasonable prices, a step beyond the usual grilled meat and other repetitious, standard fare offered in so many of the other local restaurants. The service is efficient and professional; the dining environment has rustic character.While visiting friends during annual visits to Friuli, we have eaten there on several occasions â usually on a quiet afternoon or night. The restaurant was full the last time we lunched there: it was a less-pleasant occasion.The stone walls reflect sound. If you are at a table in the back section away from tables facing the front windows, it is a bit like being in a cave: the noise of all the other people talking at the same time makes your conversing across the table both difficult and unpleasant. On the restaurant's website, click on "Cuisine" to see a photo of the dining area to avoid during a busy period â if you can.The restaurant's skimpy website (http://www.villafredda.com/index.asp)gives access to lots of lovely photos showing the building, but nothing of substance regarding its menu. In this respect, the restaurant does itself a distinct disservice.The restaurant building and its surroundings might be attractive, appealing and photogenic; however, its merits lie in the dishes offered. The website offers no details whatsoever, merely empty text expounding on the philosophy of the cook in relation to ingredients, quality, and the like â all very well but no information which you could get your teeth into (excuse the figure of speech). I know that the menu changes; however, this does not preclude listing dishes and regularly updating the website accordingly.

Frequentato in occasione di una cena di famiglia, menu già concordato in precedenza. Ottimi gli gnocchi al Ramandolo, il guanciale ed i biscottini casalinghi, nella media il resto del cibo, comunque porzioni "giuste" e buona varietà . Buoni i vini sfusi. Simpatici i camerieri. Ottimo rapporto qualità /prezzo

Caratteristica sala da pranzo con travi a vista e spolert acceso.Affettati misti della casa favolosi come anche il vino rosso con cui abbiamo accompagnato tutta la cena, frico con patate digeribilissimo e di una morbidezza unica, pollo con peperoni sublime come anche la polenta fatta in casa, UNICA !!!!Ambiente familiare, ci si sente proprio come a casa.Rapporto qualità /prezzo ottimo.Andateci!!!!

I organized for some foreign friends a couple of days wine tour throughout Friuli Venezia Giulia. Friuli is a small region which somehow manages to produce some of the most amazing wines in Italy, white, red and do not forget the unique sweet wines too. On the other hand the limited production capacity means that many of these wonderful wines are hard to obtain outside the region, so that you have to visit the wineries yourself ! A hard but very pleasant task at the same time. On our way to Nimis - a tiny village especially know for its Ramandolo ( sweet wine ) production - I decided to make a reservation in "I Comelli" for dinner and then stay overnight in their simple but nice rooms. I must say that the choice was perfect and my guests enjoyed so much both dinner and breakfast besides the perfect sleeping. The structure is an old farmhouse wisely refurbished and equipped with all comforts and it counts seven rooms. A great stillness around which gives you a sense of peace and relax. Inside "I Comelli" you can feel like being at home with the friendly atmosphere of a real family environment. The food is simple but great in the respect of Friuli local dishes. Everything we had was particularly tasty and cooked absolutely without fat ( butter, oil or whatsoever ). "I Comelli" are also winemakers and you have to taste their production too. I loved mainly three types of wine : Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso ( red ), Cjavalgjan ( a very rare red native grape that the family brought back to life a few years ago and now they are the only ones to produce it ! ) and Ramandolo Selezione Ronc de Madalene ( white sweet wine ). There is also a production of honey obtained from the nectar of flowering plants and from the sap of the trees on the surrounding hills, but unfortunately it was over due to the limited production this year ( bad weather ! ). Finally - before leaving for the visit to the next winery - we enjoyed a great breakfast in a lovely veranda with ham, cheese, butter, jam, sweets and cappuccino. Last but not least I paid a very reasonable bill ...

This family run restaurant is located in Tarcento - a little bit difficult to find, but impossible to forget! The italian style restaurant offer a great atmosphere, the staff is very professional and polite and the food is amazing! From antipasti, primi piatti, secondi piatti till the dolci - you will not be dissapointed. For me a must: the San Daniele prosciutto, pasta of any kind, continuing with the tagliatta and finsh the dish with house made Tiramisu. A true MUST GO restaurant!

che dire? una ottima cena veneziana sulla cima di un monte in un paese con una decina di abitanti: potete non crederci ma è vero.titolari cordiali e gentili, vista mozzafiato della pianura friulana fino al mare, locale arredato con gusto e lindo. I have been this restaurante get a recommendation Italia friend. That food was realy delicious. Especially, nice view makes our dinner to wonderful. Restaurante steps were very hospitable and recommendation wine were well matched from staps that with main dish. I realy hope go to there again to create a opportunity.

Alle Valanghe still delivers! We went for a family dinner on a busy Saturday night. Service was friendly and food was quick to come. What else can I say? Food was great - as usual; choices aplenty also for vegetarian. Families are really welcome, also with small children (the fireplace proved to be a huge hit). Can only confirm my recommendation. :-)

Of all our travels throughout northern Italy nothing compares to this meal or this restaurant. Mushrooms were at the peak of their season and they knew exactly what to do with them. The antipasto course delivered a beautiful array of dishes including freshly harvested porcini mushrooms, a platter of prosciutto with a complexity of flavors ~ salty, tangy and sweet. The primo course delivered homemade pasta, a rarity in the US! With secondo came the most tender slices of sirloin grilled to perfection seasoned just right over a wood fired grill. I had never tasted something so sublime, so tender it practically melted in mouth. My dessert favorite was the chantilly cream with fresh seasonal fruit but others at the table enjoyed the creme brûlée, white chocolate mousse, and chocolate cake. Espresso is a must!! The family who operate the restaurant are the most gracious, knowledgable, and amazing hosts and truly epitomize the best of northern Italian culture, taste, and style. I wish I had more photos to share but the meal was so enjoyable I didn't want to be distracted. Can't wait to return!

This a great place where you can eat excellent fish that is really fresh! you can see those fishes swimming underneath you when you sit in the "garden"!what we liked:- great house wine- they have also vines from the near agroturismo's - fish is fresh :) - and served in a very nice way- good variety of cheese that you can take for the starter- great deserts - all is served in a very nice way- service is polite- we will come back again and we recommend this placeconsiderations:We had a chance to be there few times; first time we visited it was very busy and we were lucky to get a table, not sure if you can make a booking but could be useful there is not much place to park a carthey speak English communicative and I guess not all ( but Italian would be useful) like anywhere in Italy they are not in a hurry, you get a fresh meal and when restaurant is full you got to be patient I think that prices are quite low for the quality you get - I am not saying that prices should be higher as location of this place is not in heart of tourist place but it's a great place
