Discover Restaurants offering the best Italian food in Mazunte, Oaxaca, Mexico. Mazunte is a small beach town on the Pacific coast in Oaxaca, Mexico (15°39′53″N 96°33′14″W / 15.66485°N 96.55388°W / 15.66485; -96.55388). It is located 22 km southwest of San Pedro Pochutla on coastal Highway 200. Mazunte is located some 10 km to the west of Puerto Angel and just about 1 km from San Agustinillo and 264 km south of the capital of Oaxaca. There are two etymologies for the name. Some sources state that “Mazunte” is derived from a Nahuatl phrase, “maxotetia” which means “please deposit eggs here.” However, older residents of the community state that it is from the word “mizontle,” used by locals to refer to a crab species that used to be very abundant in the area.

Went there for the first time last night... it was deliciously great! The ribs were meaty and sooo tasty! We will be going back soon. Our waitress was spot on. Attentive, not overbearing. Wonderful food and service. Nice to have another Zipo fav! It is across from Don de Franco's on the main street.

Bacco Restaurante Pizzeria Bar & Grill

Bacco occupies the former site of PachaMama, on the corner opposite Giorgio's and El Mare. The site has been tastefully re-decorated. The new restaurant has been well received by the tourist crowd and is usually very busy. Go early to have a choice of tables. The menu has remained almost identical to PachaMama and I was pleased to find that the arrachera is still moist, tender and flavourful. All the grilled meats are served with sides of roasted vegetables. On our last visit, I had the daily special, a filet mignon in mushroom sauce. The filet was a generous piece of meat, cooked to my specification. Other friends enjoyed the jicama salad and various other choices from the menu. Service is friendly and efficient.

Tried a pizza; their prices were very fair, some of the best in town for pizzas. They have a good pizza oven; i found the edge of the crust a bit thick for my liking but the toppings area was nice and thin, great flavours in their sauce. Very good pizza, and the service was impeccable, very attentive and polite.

Below the exotic trees, the wiffs landing on your nostril will lead you directly inside the Pizzeria. It's owner, Simone, spins dough so effortlessly, that you know he is a professional. The taste of the dough, be it in a focaccia, pizza or calzone was very different to anything I've tasted. Calzones are large, yet I found myself guarding mine entirely! Don't share! Get one for each diner!!Your body witll appreciate each bite, since every part of the calzone tastes different. You can always swim the calories off in the morning.

After trying a few different places for coffee and breakfast, we found Cafe del Mar near the beginning of town, and it immediately became our favorite. Clean and cozy, relaxing vibe, better prices, and, most importantly, the best coffee we came across! Esteban and his staff were always warm and welcoming and we had som great chats with him. Awesome coffee, tasty food, friendly people, an eye for style and a good customer oriented business sense all made this place stand out.

Also a posada type small hotel. Serves breakfast, lunch and dinner - a mainstay of Mazunte's community, as popular with locals as it is with Mexican and foreign tourists. Especially known for its pizzas, the restaurant also does excellent Mexican classics

I landed on this place two days into my 10 day stay in Mazunte and was glad I did. Regina runs the place mornings and afternoons and serves up breakfast all day. A simple menu, but everything she does is done nicely, from the crunchy granola on the bio yogurt, to her enchiladas, which were the best I had the opportunity to try. Evenings belong to Rodalfo, who obviously knows something about Italian food - his lasagna bolognese rocked, even with Mexican cheese, and although I didn't get a chance to try his pizza, I hear it's really good.Atmosphere is laid-back and service here is generally casual, but very friendly and accommodating - if you want less cream on your enchiladas or more granola on your yogourt, just ask, and if you are not getting the salt & pepper fast enough, just get up and get it yourself. At night they dim the lights and turn up the music a bit - which seems to be quite varied and good.Rodalfo also runs the posada guest house, adjascent to the restaurant, which looked clean and quiet enough, and maybe cheaper than others of similar quality which are right on the beach - less than 100m away.

Stoped in here for dinner after a long touring day in Puerto Escondido (4 of us). Place was busy, and we were told we had next table, yet 2 sat empty the whole time and others were sat before us. Finally chose to sit with some other people after waiting 45 mins. We went to order and were told only one chef showed up so best we order pizza as that was going out fast. So we did. Pizza was really good. Service left alot to be desired. However, margaritis were great. lol.Hi Smarties. It´s been a long time but do you think it's still time to accept our apologies? We are so sorry it wasn´t a better expirence for you and your partty, We are looking forward to serving you again when you get back to Zipolite.Irma

Were able to grab a table for two amongst many reservations and waiting bigger groups (worth making a reservation). Octopus pasta was outstanding, chipotle-spiced pasta was good but not great. Choice of red wine by the glass of Chilean Carmenere or Italian Montepulciano; of which the montepulciano was nice if not slightly overpriced. Tiramisu dessert was excellent. Would definitely go back.

The Resraurant offers a nice and romantic atmosphere for a couple but the food was a real disappointment. Furthermore, the prices are higher than expected (mostly for cocktails, small glasses and was bad preparation). In general it is not worthy to spend your time and money in this place.
