We planned on enjoying our visit to La Bettola. It's a lively room and the chef greeted us and made some suggestions. I do not eat shellfish but do enjoy fish. I explained this to him and actually listed in Italian the fish that are fine, which is really almost all fish but not shellfish. The first thing that arrives was a plate of...shellfish. and some fish. Then we were told to order pasta, so we did. And then...dolce! Other diners got a whole fish and we would have preferred that buy we were offered neither a menu nor options. So we were very disappointed. If we were to return, we would request menus, which were right there, but the situation did not lend itself to that request. We were both disappointed. What we had we enjoyed but we didn't really want what we got. Yes, we could have asked for the menu, but the chef was standing right there offering various items and it was difficult to negotiate that. So...speak better Italian than we do, be happy with the chef's recommendations or eat someplace else.

Here you find the love for the kitchen .. find the home made things and the genuine taste of simplicity and dishes made on the spot .. Everything is prepared from the time of order, we do not do anything precooked or prepared before .. all you eat is simp
Next to the Mazara hotel, this is a small French restaurant run by Jeanine. We were fortunate to find this charming family-run café and to meet the owners and guests. We had a fun evening talking to them in about every language we could try â Italian, French, Spanish and English. Jeanine is the chef from Toulouse who married a local Sicilian. They both sat down with us while we dined so we learned a lot about the current situation in Italy, their views about the EU and the US. It was fascinating. Jeanine served us the specialty of the area which is a red langoustine, very sweet, absolutely delicious. She served us pasta with local mussels to start and a platter of local cheeses to try and a salad. The food was wonderful. Before the evening was out, their friends also got involved in the conversation and I felt as if we were part of a big Sicilian family. It was one of those enchanting nights I will always remember with joy.

Food was exquisite. All dishes very creatively presented. All very tasty. Portions were large. Prices for the style and ambient of this high class restaurant were very reasonable. One of the best meals that we have had in Sicily, and this is our fourth visit in 3 years! Will be going back next Tuesday as well!!!

Italy is all about food and if you want to try traditional Sicilian food this quaint, unassuming and inexpensive trattoria is the place to go!Basic styled restaurant just outside the old part of Mazara del Vallo (just over the railway tracks) is very popular with the locals. Indeed it is probably worth booking to secure a table. I let the waiters suggest dishes and the local house wine was most palatable!

If you're looking for a restaurant to enjoy a nice meal that has lots of atmosphere, this could be the one. The cuisine reflected the local diet of fresh vegetables and seafood. You may have new seafoods, or experience ones you know prepared in new ways. The anti pasta was varied and tasty with a focus on fresh vegetables and seafood. I'm sure all of the pasta dishes are very good - we had one which featured skate (ray). The house wine is plentiful and goo. The atmosphere is relaxed so that if you want to linger over lunch, you won't feel hurried.

Undoubtedly, the best restaurant we have dined in during this 5-day visit to Sicily. Itâs really odd that this restaurant is not higher up the TA list for Mazara given that numero uno is a seafood shop and due is according to several reviewers a little rough while offering good food. C'est la vie.Located in Mazara del Valloâs casbah, Donna Franca is an excellent fine dining restaurant that offers superbly cooked fresh seafood, has an excellent wine list, and provides friendly personal service. We arrived for our reservation just before 8 pm and found the restaurant devoid of other guests; they did not turn up until way past 9pm (I guess the Spanish influence). We ordered a bottle of DOC Zagra Grillo, a splendid white from Valle dellâAcate (Parker has it at 86 points). For antipasti I ordered a warm tuna caponata and my wife an orange (Clementine) and walnut salad, both of which were very good. But, the piece de resistance was a large, beautifully cooked steak of fresh swordfish flavoured with pistachio and accompanied by grilled vegetables. It was really excellent â so flavourful and tender. My wife had an equally good busiate with red prawns and lemon pesto; and to finish we had freshly prepared canola and hazelnut praline thoughtfully regaled to celebrate our special occasion, and Marsala wine. The service was impeccable â friendly and solicitous without being overbearing. Will we visit again? Absolutely. Surprised Donna Franca is not numero uno in Mazara.

Great place to visit if you're a seafood lover, especially if you are fan of oysters and shellfish as they have a wide range for you to try. It's not a restaurant as such, it's a wholesaler with a small informal lounge at the front where you can taste some of their produce.

Amazing place on a busy road - the inside is a traditional small shop interior with wooden counters and tiled floors. We stopped briefly for an ice cream on a hot evening. It was superb and we decided to sit at a small table inside. The place is a stop for local people and the products are wonderful - we did not have any hot snacks or cakes but they too looked as good as you can imagineWorth a stop anytime. The mango and pistachio ice creams were A1. Superb

Sconsigliato altamente.
