We have visited this restaurant many times but our last visit will actually be the last! We asked for my antipasti to come at the same time as my partners pasta. This did not happen. They brought both mains before my partner had eaten his pasta. The side vegetables we ordered never arrived. The garden is lovely but the service needs improving. The food is usually good here.

We entered the restaurant, starving, about half an hour before they were scheduled to open. Instead of telling us to wait for normal business hours, the owner welcomed us, seated us and gave us free appetizers to tide us over until the staff arrived! What hospitality! The food was all wonderful! We had scampi, two ways, seafood pasta and antipasti.

A great place to taste home made Salentinian dishes. High quality ingredients and good preparation in a family run restaurant. It's not very easy to find this place as it is needed to drive through a small village called Pisignano and then to follow the signs to the place along the way to Lizzanello. But then you can experience a great selection of local dishes, a nice place with tables outside in the garden and the great atmosphere of the Salento country side during the summer.Ask for the suggested appetisers selection to start in style! ....and then try the various meat based recipes.
Consigliatissimo.

We were lucky enough to visit this delightful restaurant for a full pasta making experience. We were taken through the making of many varieties of pasta and it was clear they are absolute experts in pasta and appropriate accompaniments. Our lunch was absolutely delicious and we were lucky enough to sample some of the fresh pasta we had created. If you are even remotely close to this wonderful restaurant we would highly recommend a visit if not for the pasta making experience, then definitely for lunch or dinner. A truly unique and personalized experience!

Hostaria Arete was the perfect choice to get to know Apulian cuisine and hospitality. Its worth driving out to this great countryside restaurant with candlelit garden and authentic food.

We came across La Pocina through The Fork and weren't really sure what to expect. It's hidden at the end of a small, pot-holed street on the outskirts of Lizzanello, and we were a little wary when we arrived. However, we were pleasantly surprised on all counts by our delightful host/chef and by the surprisingly different food! The best way to describe the dishes is classic Italian with an exotic twist. They have great meat-lover options but also vegan friendly fare--I highly recommend the chickpea patties--absolutely divine! They make their own garam masala mix that gets thrown into the patties, and it's a delicious touch. I also recommend the house appetizer for a wonderful sampling of the breadth of delicious foods they offer. And the porcini gnocchi is hands-down the most delicious porcini dish I've tried--fresh porcini mushrooms in the fall!!

While staying in Caprarica di Lecce I found this highly recommended restaurant on Tripadvisor, I phoned for a reservation, answering machine and left a message, perhaps too early, I thought to myself, later just before 8.00pm I phoned again and left a message again confirming the reservation. Miles in the countryside and very narrow roads we arrive to find the place locked no lights, no notices, no warning on the answering machine (I speak and understand Italian perfectly). These people do not care, practically ruined our evening.
