They don't accept credit card and don't tell you until it's time to pay. We are in town on business and our colleagues had to cover our bill, which placed us in a terribly embarrassing position. Never in all my travels have I encountered this issue. There are much better restaurants in the area who will happily take our credit cards.

...somehow in the back of a corner in Kelkheim, this cozy place really surprises dish by dish... They have just astounding Italian flavours in every dish, a lunch menu of ridiculous 10 Euro with 3 dishes, super freshly made bread with butter...I mean, really WOW.WOW.WOW. The pumpkin soup, the lasagna like pasta with spinach and cream, and the apple tart at the end were just delicious. The fact that they have different gelato desserts (also during the winter) makes the place even better. There is also a "surprise menu", but many different dishes like octopus (at reasonable prices, but even if it was more expensive...it would be worth it...)...that I will definitely try next time. The atmosphere is rather classic but simple, service extremely nice. Definitely worth the detour from Frankfurt city!
My son and family live a block from Leo's so we have had Leo's pizza many times when we have visited them. It is wood fired and delicious. The last time we visited we decided to order some pasta dishes. OMG. My husband ordered the Mafia (pasta with a red sauce and sausage) and I had the Carbonara. It is the best Carbonara I have ever eaten. The sauce was rich and delicious. We will definitely be ordering more pasta dishes the next time we visit our son and family.

Konigstein is an upscale castle town in the suburbs of Frankfurt. It is extremely quaint and worth a visit. We have eaten in Da Toto several times in the last few years. This is a family run Italian restaurant on Kirchstrasse. Each time we visit it gets better. They have done a great job with the interior. Linen table cloths, fresh flowers, good food and reasonable prices keep us coming back! Although they have pizza, this is not the typical "pizzeria."We were ex-pats living in Konigstein and near by Kronberg in the 90s. We make an annual visit to the region. We are very impressed by the attention to detail and effort put in by Da Toto's owners. Kudos!

Nice and cosy atmosphere and foods are great. Normally, in German, restaurants serve casual dishes, but here is a bit more sophisticated. Maybe it is the reason why there is no much choice on the menu. Quality of house wine, I had Lugana, was also very nice.

We liked this little restaurant a lot. The food was very reasonably priced and the atmosphere buzzing. Pizzas ranged from € to €9.50 with most around 6 or 7 Euro mark and they are baked over wood in their pizza oven. (We didn't have pizza but they looked very nice). The same price for pasta dishes, all the pasta is home-made from scratch and there is also a specials menu which is slightly more expensive but looked delicious. We had an enormous side salad that included large chunks of tuna for only €4.50. As the name suggest, this is a family run business and the owner has a real drive. The place was buzzing with locals, the only bad thing is that there is not too many seats so if eating at the weekend, I'd book first to make sure there is space. Portions are large and service is always with a smile. All in all, well worth it, particularly if you are travelling on a shoe string. Give it a try!

Chose to stay in Konigstein im Taunus after arriving in Frankfurt for it's cobbled old town. It is a delightful place not frequented by Americans. Having read about flammkuchen, we wanted to try it there. Wow! Had the cheese, onion and mushrooms . It is similar to the Alsatian tarte but better. Other items in the small restaurant were good also.

Stopped by this Italian restaurant (run by authentic italians) with some friends and really liked it. Attentive staff (despite full house) Saltimbocca alla Romana, fish dishes, pasta and pizza all came well made and tasty. Sure worthwhile to spend some time there.

My wife and I are retired Canadian professionals living in Frankfurt for 18 months. Today, between Christmas and New Years Eve, it was overcast and foggy and wet, and we decided to explore the narrow cobblestone streets of the incredibly beautiful little towns of Kronberg and Konigstein, with their timeless estate/residences. We had made reservations at Miro's (highly recommended) because we assumed, rightly, that the local residents would be a good gastronomical influence! Miros is located on a hillside overlooking the valley below. The exterior is unassuming; the interior is very nicely decorated, warm and welcoming, with linen tablecloths. The owner himself seated us at a table with a view.If readers look at the comments on the attached photos, they will see why we were so delighted with the meal. The flavours and presentation were excellent. The ambience is such that families will enjoy dining, as well as couples looking for a memorable experience. (Why dine at other fine restaurants where the stuffy, stiff formality creates gastric ulcers?)The cost of the meals is entirely reasonable for the high quality and absolute professionalism. We will be back again to explore the menu. Bravo Mirwais!Thank you very much! You have to come back on a sunny day to take a look out of our windows an to see the great panorama. And of course, to explore the menu.We are looking forward to see you, kind regardsMiro
