Eating out in Hoover just got way more exciting! Tre Luna is simply wonderful... family run, not a chain, neighborhood vibe, upscale, absolutely delicious food, great drink selection,... I love it!They opened in late May and I’ve already been 3 times! Looking forward to my next visit. My husband is still talking about his ribeye. My daughter loved her chicken francese. The pizza is divine.Wine, beer, mixed drink or water... you just can’t make a bad choice!Simply put... just go!

This place has come up in conversation as a good place for Italian food so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant is in a building that looks like it was multiple store fronts. Inside the dining room was open, but not necessarily cozy. We were seated right away (about 5:15 on a Friday night). The menu is rather basic, but has the essential Italian classics such as lasagna and chicken parmigiana. The server poured their herb infused olive oil and provided soft bread for dipping. The oil was excellent! Great flavor with balanced herbs. We ordered a caprese salad as an appetizer. It was flavorful, but was too heavy on the garlic. I ordered chicken parmigiana, my test for these types of restaurants. It was good, but nothing special. The sauce was tangy and tasted fresh on top of a bed of spaghetti. My wife had shrimp scampi with linguine (a special). We sent it back. It had a very off flavor. This was quickly replaced with another dish. The server checked on us frequently and was very pleasant. She handled the food replacement with professionalism and sensitivity. Incidentally, we were seated next to the cake case. They looked fabulous, but with the meal portion sizes (large), we passed. I hear they are great, maybe a separate trip just for cake!Thomas, I am the General Manager of Joe's, Allison. I want to thank you for choosing us for dinner, and for taking the time to leave this review. Our housemade foccacia bread and dipping oil is a favorite among our guests and I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I am sorry that you didn't enjoy the Shrimp Scampi as that is my favorite special that we serve, but I am glad to hear that your server handled the situation to your satisfaction!I do hope you will give us another try, and I would definitely recommend the cakes as that is something that we are most known for!Hope we have the opportunity to serve you again in the future!

Tortugas Pizza

Well, as far as we know, the only stuffed pizza in Birmingham. We haven't had it in over a decade since we moved away, but still fondly remember getting pies from their now defunct Pelham restaurant on a weekly basis. We were back in town for a weekend and stopped by to see if it was as good as we remember - it was. Ordered a 10" for carryout with pepperoni, Italian sausage, green peppers, and black and green olives. It was ready when they said it would be and tasted great as ever. Call us crazy, but we actually think like Tortuga's matches or beats any of the major Chicago pizzerias (Giordano's, Gino's East, Pizzeria Uno, etc.).

We were hungry at 4 PM so we decided to stop for Pizza. When we walked in the staff was involved in a discussion in their native language but we ordered and sat down at a table that provided a view of the cooking and prep area. The conversation continued while we waited and watched. The pizza was finally prepared and put in the oven. It was great when we finally got it. They said the conversation was about business. I would suggest that they not do their business in full view of the customers.

My hubby and I stopped in here for a quick order to go and asked for the Build Your Own Pizza, which was 2x Pepperoni & 2x Mozzarella and specifically requested thin crust pizza. In addition, we ordered the small apple turnover. We did not check the pizza or our turnover and took it home. That was our mistake, they made our pizza out of regular pizza crust which was ok but not what we ordered. The pizza sauce is one that I don't care for so the pizza for me was a bust. My husband liked it ok. But the apple turnover was outstanding!! That alone was worth the trip!!
