Find out what Italian restaurants to try in Hartford. From its origins as a Connecticut River trading post in 1633, Hartford has become not only the state capital but also the insurance capital of the world, with a slew of historical attractions, a thriving arts and entertainment center, a revitalized riverfront and beautiful parks and public gardens. It was here that the lovable Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer were born in the imagination of celebrated author Mark Twain and immortalized on paper during the writer's Hartford years. Twain's home and those of fellow literary figures Harriet Beecher Stowe and Noah Webster are open to the public. The Wadsworth Atheneum, the oldest public art museum in the U.S., houses Pilgrim-Century furniture, the Amistad collection and a special treasure hunt system to entice kids to explore the museum's works. If your timing is right (end of June, beginning of July), you'll catch the Elizabeth Park rose gardens in bloom, but fall is also great for brilliant leaf colors, and spring yields colorful gardens and blossoming trees. For a bird's-eye view of the city, visit the observation deck of Travelers Tower, where you might also spot two resident falcons.

Ficara's Restaurant is a family run Italian restaurant in Hartford. Everyone works together and really make you feel invited and part of their family. The service is spectacular. My cousin and aunt come here frequently on Sundays. The staff treat them as family, not customers. The food portions are massive, prepare to take some home and have a delicious meal the next day. The bread served with the meal really compliments each dish. They have a great menu and even accommodate for veggie and vegans.
Vacationed near Hartford with my wife. We looked for a local lunch eatery. We found the Cornerstone via Trip Advisor. Excellent sandwiches. One eight inch grinder fed both me and my wife. Service was fast and staff made excellent suggestions. Delicious meats and toppings. Very reasonable prices. Excellent experience.

My family has been patronizing Angelina's for years! To say this restaurant is awesome would be an understatement. The staff - Joe, John, and everyone else are the most descent and honest people you will meet. The pizza ,grinders, and salads all are awesome. The portions are huge so bring your appetite. Just a secret - Joe's chicken wings are only second to J. Timothys. You will always find a friend at Angelina's. Even during crowded times you will be welcome to share a table with anyone.

Peppercornâs Grill and Piccolo Arancio are owned and operated by the Cialfi siblings, Sal, Dino, Tina, and Rosa. Brothers Sal and Dino purchased Peppercorn's Grill in 1989 and they, along with younger sisters Tina and Rosa opened Piccolo Arancio in 1994.
Oh my. Peppercorn's veal osso buco entree was fall off the bone yumminess. Veal was cooked to perfection and the vegetable sides complemented the entree. Their summer salad of peaches and barrato creamy cheese was fresh and tasty.Service was attentive and very helpful.

We ate here before the women's basketball game against South Carolina. The food was consistently excellent, we had a very good bottle of wine, and everything was delivered quickly enough so that we had plenty of time to get to the Civic Center (officially, now the XL Center.) I had the roasted chicken ravioli, which comes with a tangy brown sauce that was excellent. My wife had the shrimp scampi, which was also excellent. The other couple was very happy with their salmon and the carbonera. Shout out to Nick S for excellent service.

bin228 a.k.a. "the bin" is a cozy wine bar in downtown Hartford serving small plates, risotto, panini and offering over 55 wines by the glass in addition to a full bar.
We ordered 3 different small plates- both the cauliflower and brussel sprouts were served luke warm, lacking appeal and would not recommend. The lamb meatballs were good but like the wine, very much overpriced. The restaurant atmosphere is charming and cozy and could have so much potential if they upgraded their food and reduced the wine glass prices.

We stayed at the Marriott overnight and ate here out of sheer convenience. Wowâwere we pleasantly surprised! Typical hotel breakfast buffet, but the food was actually delicious! Freshly made waffles, pancakes and omelets were made to order, the scrambled eggs on the buffet line were fluffy and warm, the bacon, sausage and breakfast potatoes were flavorful and also warm, nice selection of fresh fruits and delicious ripe berries. There wasnât anything super exciting about the menu, but it was excellent for a hotel breakfast buffet and we would gladly return on another visit. The service was also wonderfulâfriendly and attentive across the board.

Went here for dinner. We were in the mood for Italian and people in the office suggested Carboneâs.We drove through Hartford to get there and were able to find a place on the street to park. It looks as though they do have a parking lot, but am not sure if it is complimentary or not.We walked in and even though we did not have reservations we were seated immediately. This is a white table cloth kind of place and some of the prices do reflect that. The service was constant, friendly and helpful without being overbearing. It is an Italian restaurant so they are numerous Italian dishes and a lot of tough choices to make. After reviewing the menu I narrowed my choices down to 3. After speaking with our server I eliminated 1 and finally decided on the Rigatoni Bolognese. It is beef, pork, tomato-cream ragu, homemade ricotta and arugula. Before dinner came they did deliver a basket of bread with a house made oil.Our entrees arrived a short while later. There was an adequate portion of pasta and a very large dollop of the homemade ricotta, and in my opinion too much arugula.I mixed about half of the ricotta mixture in to the pasta and ragu mixture. My work associate gladly took the other half. The mixing in of the ricotta gave the dish a little more creamy texture. Overall a very good dinner.

Food and service were great. Price of food is a great value. I would recommend this place. Myself and another person had the Diver Scallops w/fried rice & shrimp. Scallops ere cooked perfectly and rice was a nice and tasty addition.
