This is a pretty restaurant in a pretty town with very old and interesting buildings. I tried steak, whereas my friends tried pizza and spaghetti. All were quite satisfactory, with also its' personnels' smiling faces and friendly behaviour. I recommend.
Monday night and a lot of restaurants were closed but this place was doing a good trade. The food was basic Italian with a good range of choice, from pasta to pizza to steak. I had the steak with mushroom sauce and it was delicious. The salads were also very fresh and very tasty. Service was attentive without being over the top. The surroundings and décor were a bit cafeteria but a good dinner all round.

Das Restaurant wirkt von auÃen etwas unscheinbar. Die Einrichtung innen ist gelungen. Das Essen schmeckte wirklich gut, der Service war in Ordnung.

Had a business dinner here after a business trip. Very attentive service and accommodated a large group arriving at different times. Large menu selection, no english version but it was still fairly easy to work it out - especially as I had several german speakers with me.Food was very tasty and good portion sizes, enjoyed the local beer. Prices were very reasonable.Would go again if I am back in Herborn.

I have visited the Schlosscafe in Dillenburg on various occasions due to its prime location. The food was normally not very satisfying at all. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that the owner has changed. The new owner has transformed the restaurant. The food is now excellent, the service was friendly and the interior had a much needed facelift. The food took a while to arrive but was very fresh and delicious. Apart from the Italian food, they also do great German cakes. They did not take any form of credit card, so please bring cash. Apart from that, I can only recommend this restaurant. It is no comparison to the earlier incarnation of the Schloss Cafe. Definitely a top spot to for food in Dillenburg now.

Bacco is just about the most popular restaurant in this town. It makes sense, too. It's simple, fairly inexpensive, and you have zero choice when it comes to Italian restaurants around here. They have a captive audience with a palate that clearly lacks sophistication but thinks it's somehow urbane.Let's start with the ambience:Were you around in the 80's? So was the interior! Entering the restaurant is like time-travel. It's amazing - the decor is clearly a survivor that was very well made and was meant to last. It has. It's also painfully dated. Not to worry, in the summer there is a large outdoor terrace where you can sit across from the local brothel and watch the world go by. Awesome. You get to enjoy the outdoors in lovely plastic chairs that are reminiscent of your aunt Bertha's backyard. Heck, I think they might be the exact same chairs! Still, it's certainly a plus that you can sit outside. However, you might be here for the food. If you are, I am very sorry for you. This food will certainly do if you are stuck here. It won't make you sick, it won't make you retch - it also won't make you happy if you have any idea what this type of food should (and can) taste like. If you have transportation and can stand driving for a bit, I'd probably get out now. There's got to be something better...For many of the pasta dishes, it really doesn't matter much what you order. You can have your chosen shape of pasta with a sauce - if it's meat sauce ("bolognese") than that's what you'll get. Doesn't matter if it's lasagne, tortellini, or rigatoni. You can also get various pasta shapes with a cream sauce. Or, are you ready, you can get the pasta shapes with a MIX of the two sauces. To be extra fancy, you can have mushrooms added into the mix. Fantastic. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but don't get your hopes up too much! You think, "whatever, I want to eat pizza." I understand that. If you do, please, please, please be aware that the primary ingredient in this pizza appears to be sodium. It's great for cheaply creating "taste" and thus, it's used a-plenty!Pizza also comes with "cheese" but I must admit that I'm not quite sure what kind of "cheese." I have my doubts that it's mozzarella...It's not as annoying as some of the places that use strong Gouda on pizza, but it may just be a less flavorful Gouda. Don't quote me on that, though.Whatever it is, the resulting pizza is, in my humble estimation, absolutely unacceptable. It clearly caters to local tastes - and those tastes, like I stated above, don't seem to be overly sophisticated or are simply confined by the scarcity of other options in this part of the world.I will also need to say something about the staff: They are excellent. Very attentive, very friendly, and very prompt in their service. They, too, deserve a better restaurant. In essence, the food that is served here is a perfect reflection of the furniture: It was great in the 80's but has become utterly outdated and is in desperate need of an overhaul.
