In the valleys surrounding Guardiagrele, 500 metres above sea level, the Majella is the backdrop to pristine landscapes and abundant nature and it is here, on the premises of an old barn, at the foot of an old oak tree, tucked away the Farmhouse Colle Tri

Baita del Poeta is located at a beautiful spot in the woods of the Maiella National Park. Food is good. Had antipasti freddo, ravioli with pumkin sauce, plate with all kinds of grilled meat and tiramisu. All very delicious and worth the money (inexpensive!).Service is nice with easygoing young people.

We booked a table for lunch to celebrate my birthday as part of a family weekend trip. The platters of local meats, cheeses and vegetables were incredibly tasty and very generous. The great thing is that as it is also a delicatessen you can pick up your favourites to take home with you too. An excellent wine selection of the fabulous Abruzzese varieties available - again also available to take away. All in all an excellent lunch - our first visit but not our last!

Friendly family run pizzeria, mama cooks and father and sons work in the restaurant, really hospitable service. Lovely thin crust pizzas, lots of choice on the menu if pizzas not your choice. Good wine selection son trained sommelier . We visited the restaurant several times always thoroughly tasty meal with excellent service.

A great find and completely different to other restaurants in the area. The setting's quirky and original - set into the old walls of pretty village San Martino della Marrucina. Decor's comfortable, romantic and highly original. (You'll see what I mean when you get there). Mellow background music just perfect for the setting. The food is outstanding. An original, modern and delicious twist on standard Italian fare. Red wine risotto; rabbit terrine; signature starter of a salt-baked onion with parmesan; pasta with a sauce made from osso bucco; organic pork fillet with a red wine glaze; a deconstructed cheesecake dessert. No menu - but Padrone Angelo will carefully guide you through the choices for each course. And help with the wine ! Can genuinely recommend La Vineria. Each visit is a new pleasure.

This is a small delightful eatery run by a young couple. They are "vocational" in their dedication to traditional Abruzzese food, serving superb antipasti of meats cured by the owner/chef/waiter and allt i allo proprietor, prosciutto, salamis, etc., with the ubiquitous Abruzzo "cinghiale" or wild boar. I have eaten vast quantities of pasta in my life (mountains?), but I consider that the home made pasta produced by the lady of the house is the best that I have ever eaten. Within a few miles of this establishment, their are a number of serious (prestigious) restaurants, but none have the earthy "feel" for traditional Abruzzan food which this lovely couple have made their forte!Eat their food with reverence, it is served with care, love and attention. I asked the proprietor why he was not working in Rome (he would make a fortune there!); he looked at me as though I was slightly stupid, and replied that he loved the area because of his unfettered access to Abruzzan specialities.Good, simple Italian cookery at its best. This is the "cuccina povera" which has travelled the globe. If you want the more pretentious "cuccina baroniale", and have the funding, there are other restaurants in the vicinity.I have had many fine meals here, I am fond of the staff and totally prejudiced!!!

We went there on Ferragosto - 15th august and enjoyed an amazing menu of uncounted courses. Crudi - raw fish and scampi, warm antipasti, two types of pasta, a swordfish as secondo. How many courses? can´t remember. During normal weekdays you can choose from a full menu - with the side effect that service may take a bit longer. This time, as it was a set menu, timing was just perfect.

La Grotta is unique as part of it is inside a small cave. This cave and the ret of the restaurant is beautifully finished off and well decorated and lit. One must mention the toilets as being the best toilets I have every had the good fortune to visit. We, a party of 6, dined the the cave section surrounded by dozens of bottles of wine. The menu was not extensive but covered the main Italian food groups. We did ask about specials and were offered one or two dishes of something off menu. I messed up and ordered steak, I should have been more local. The food everyone had must have been extremely good based on the comments around the table. Plus the wines both red and white we delicious. When our waiter nor the owner, both of whom had limited english, could not answer a question the english speaking chef was called to our table. In conclusion for those of us used to paying city prices for 5 star service you will be pleasantly surprised. If you are ever within 100 kilometres of this restaurant please go.

Four of us had the territorio menu. Tastes of the local specialities of Abruzzo. Start to finish it was excellent. Service top notch. Friendly and not stuffy. We chose our own wines and the waiter steered us to another wine, surprisingly it was less in cost than the one we had chosen. Proof that, to them, it matters more that the wine match your food perfectly than making a profit. And to Reviewer Andrei, who disingenuously said only French food rated Michelin stars, he is a snob and has no palate. He wouldnât know quality food if it hit him in the face.
