Nestled in the Flower Streets of Corona del Mar, we've been making our famous subs for the people of CdM, Newport Beach, and Orange County for decades. Generations upon generations of families have made us their go-to sandwich shop since 1973. We have a v
Gallo's is near my work, so every once in awhile, I will get a small tuna or veggie sub to go, and head to the beach to enjoy an ocean view. The cute old lady who works the register is so sweet! The bread is always fresh, and I love their pickled veggies! I wish the Gallo's in Newport was still open, but now the CdM location is the only one near me.

Weâve come here off and on for many many years and always find it good. Itâs a nice little place with an inside out feel and always seems very busy. Fairly simple menu with nice Italian/American standards. Fried calamari starter was excellent and showed up to the table immediately. Special of the night was Veal rib chop and that was unbelievably good and tender!Nice wine list and we had a wonderful super Tuscan red that was a great value. Will be back for sure!

We arrived a half hour before closing on a Friday night. They made us feel like valued patrons right away. My husband had eggplant Parmesan and I had Stuffed Eggplant. Both were good. I preferred his because it had a bit more sauce. My entree was a little dry. This is a decent place where they try hard.

Itâs a very impressive room with nice atmosphere. The menu has plenty of choice.Food however was just ok.Other than the opera playing in the background it doesnât feel Italian. Waiters werenât Italian. The food whilst Italian by name isnât quite authentic. Everything has a slight twist.Certainly not a bad experience, it ticks a lot of boxes particularly if you havenât been to Italy.

We heard from friends that this place was great so we went for dinner. The hostesses were very nice and seated us as requested on the patio by the fireplace - we asked if it was going to be lit (it was kind of chilly) and she said "in about 20 minutes" - it was never lit during our hour stay. Typically at an Italian restaurant it is not hard to satisfy my vegan husband - here - not the case. My husband asked for a salad on the menu to be put on a pizza crust (a pizza easy to order at CPK). Our waiter had to ask the chef if he could place a salad on a crust and came back with, "no, we cannot make any changes to the menu unless it is an allergy situation". We were shocked - we have eaten around the world and most places go out of their way to make their customers happy - here? no sorry, can't do that simple task of salad greens on a pizza. We ordered several salads which were decent; my son ordered a waygu burger which was good but only burger, bun, cheese - he would have liked onion, lettuce, tomato (perhaps this is too american for a strict Italian place....).Wine by the glass - very expensive.Bread served after ordering - terrible. Job #1 at an Italian restaurant should be amazing bread but this bread tasted rather old.Overall not impressed.Hi there,We are very sorry to hear you had a less than stellar visit at CUCINA enoteca. We visit Newport every winter for a few weeks. Pirozzi (along with Salerno in Laguna) are the best! Both have amazing pastas. Pizza at Pirozzi is a real specialty. Cioppino Is among the best weâve had. Inside is noisy; patio is wonderful. If you like Italian food, this is the place for great food and service.

Established in 1977, our restaurant has become a favorite landmark for locals and visitors alike. The lively bar tables are great for people watching and the Wine Cellar is ideal for private occasions. The Chef has daily specials that are sure to entice
Dining at this Italian restaurant post-Christmas was stirring. Have dined here with friends and family and for special occasions---past 10 years---conjured up warm memories. Rothschild's has operated in this location since 1977 and is Zagat rated. Owner/Executive Chef is Frank Fassero-Reiss. Seating was in the wine cellar and offered lovely views of swaying Palm trees and avian visitors outside. Wine glasses are etched with an âRâ and our table was covered in linen and entrée was served on China. Hand-crafted fettucine was âexceptionalâ and having an early lunch was perfect for conversations on âcurrent events" from "The L.A. Times."Parking is located in the back of the restaurant and is complimentary. Rich mahogany and fine oil paintings decorate the classic interior of Rothschild's. Overall the experience was nothing lacking in the culinary department. Wild Salmon is âmeilleur culinaire.â Gracie Frank!

An orange afternoon that gently morphed into the evening at The Pelican Hill Resort is fuel for writing, dreams and things worth sharing. On this day the titian light streamed across the Palladian veranda overlooking the Pacific Ocean in a place that defied a dream---for me at least. Andrea under the guidance of Chef Chris Simons was a tabular presentation rich with Midas colored water glasses, white linen tablecloths and familiar faces---as a tribute to the continuum of such that is consistent, elegant and worth regular investiture. Parking was/is complimentary---like smiles. Barrel-aged acquerello risotto delivered warmth within. Tim (our server) was thoughtful. Friends were waiting and an adventure was on the verge of conception at Il Cafe. Initially a âMi sono persaâ thought hovered, yet post dining the word "casa" came to mind. Light on the terrace---so grateful.Hello India, Thank you for your continued loyalty to Pelican Hill and taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review of your recent dinner. Please know I've shared your kind comments with Chef Chris and Tim, and we look forward to the opportunity to serve you again soon. Warm regards, Tom Donovan Managing Director, The Resort at Pelican Hill
