On the way to the "Canossa castles" area, any other restaurant on the Tripadvisor was already full so we took our chance with this place:it sat conveniently at parking lot and junction between the main road and the ramp that takes you to the beautiful Rossena castle. We should have known better. The 'antipasto' was a really unremarkable selection of cold cuts, probably from LIDL.Praise to the tiny gnocco fritto, which was light and warm, practically perfect. The main course was, filled pasta, and we chose spinach and nettle (ortica), they looked and *tasted* industrial... something you can easily replicate at home, just buy a blister of 'pasta fresca' at your store and add butter and parmesan.Afterwards, we didn't dare to go for the meat course. The wine list was mostly local but not short. We had half bottle of Lambrusco 'Il campanone' which was predictably good but too warm IMHO, nevermind the restaurant has a glassed wine cellar you can see even from outside. The espresso coffee was really, really bad, but I believe it had to do with the inexperienced waiter. We spent 30 Euros for a so-and-so meal; the place felt as if it was there only for the locals.I reccommend it for the Gnocco fritto, and only for that.

We usually visit this farm house and talk to the owner and what Lenura N reviewed profoudly hurt us so wefeel the need to speak out.Starting a business for the public naturally brings about appreciation or criticism. Constructive and honestcriticism is certainly a good way of improving both personally and as a company. However, glaring mistakesbased on superficial and incompetent observations become automatically defamatory statements and asthey might damage the business , they must be rejected on social media and, if necessary, by taking legalaction. On account of what written by Lenura N post , I would like to point out that at La Collina Dei Cavalli horses, donkeys, pigs, hens, chickens rabbits, geese, ducks, sheep, goats and dogs are raised. The animals are not amere instrument to attract customers, but the core of the business. La Collina Dei Cavalli is not a restaurantbut a farm house and growing food and raising animals are the centre of the activity as legally required tobe so.The animals are not beautiful or ugly, skinny or fat, but free; they are free to graze in their 17 hectares ofpasture and they eat as much as they like, whenever they like, the way they like. Ducks and geese, forexample, are changing their plumage because they are in the fase of growing from chicks to adults andthose that one month ago were yellow feathers will be soon beautiful white ones. They are not miserablemangy animals indeed. They live in a pond and we have seen that the bed is actually made of greenconcrete! For what concerns sheep, it is well known that the breeds are many and the ones we can findthere, âmasseseâ and âcornellaâ, have typically skinny legs. In particular, the sheep in the fold, mentionedin the review, had just arrived and then again it is well known that they need at least 10-15 days in order tobecome familiar with their environment lest to get lost and be easy pray for some wolves haunting thesurroundings. They have been raised by a shepherd living in the mountains in the Province of RE and whohas been raising sheep for years. Now the donkey. We have been told that experts in the field consider himas a specimen of equine longevity since he is 37! No need to say that as an old man of 110 he might havesome aches and pains here and there. But he feels great! If you look carefully you can see that in each oneof the shelters and along the fence drinking trough are provided bacause no farmers in the world wouldever leave their animals without water! These are some examples of how slapdash analisys done without asking or knowing the situation properlycould cause misleading conclusion we need to specify and clarify for the public.Raising and taking care of animals means to rispect them in their environment as they are. They are notcuddly toys or cartoons cute and fluffy; they get dirty, they stink, they fall ill like every living creature. But,most important, they are free. What I said above can easily be seen in person as hundreds of families and many children, parents andteachers in school trips have been guided by the owner to see the farm and could appreciate how the well-being of animals and the safeguard of the environment is a priority in this agriturismo.

I am so happy to be the first English speaking person to review this restaurant. If you speak little or no Italian and were intimidated to go to a locals only type restaurant because the menu was all in Italian and the waitstaff spoke no English, you have no worries here. This restaurant provided one of the nicest dining experiences my wife and I have ever had. Actually it's the two nicest dining experiences since we went back three nights later for a second dinner. This restaurant scored five stars in all three categories, ambience, staff and food. Now this is not to say that this restaurant had the best ambience we've ever experienced, or the best service, or the best food. However, it did so well in a combination of all three, it is a top choice. The ambience of the restaurant was very quaint. The dining area consists on one smaller room and one larger L-shaped room. The rooms are nicely decorated and are spotlessly clean, as was the restroom. The tables are set with white linen tablecloths along with a tin of olive oil and a bottle of vinegar. Also on the table is a complimentary bowl of salad and rolls. The restaurant is owned and operated by two sisters. Lorenza handles the front end. She greets you when you enter and takes your order. She also serves the food, but she does also have a server. Our first night dining here was a Saturday night and the restaurant was full. Lorenza was quite busy. Nevertheless she spent ample time with us to explain the menu and answer our questions. She was very attentive to us and always had a smile and very endearing demeanor.Emanuela is the chef. We did not meet her, but we very much enjoyed all the food she prepared. Both times my wife had as her first course the duck ravioli. If the restaurant did take out she would have gotten another order to go. She also had the steak tartare which was excellent. I had a pasta dish one night and a lamb dish the other evening. Again, both were excellent. The portions were just the right size for us, and were a very good value. The restaurant is open for lunch and our only regret was we were never around at that time to try it. We give this ristorante the highest recommendation, and Traversetolo is a quaint little town to visit!

Possibly the best restaurant I've been to in northern Italy since being in the country for two weeks. Such great value for massive, tasty pizzas. They serve cakes too! The owner is very talented although his English is limited. The lady who works there has great English and is so friendly. Would love to go back to try more.

I have tasted Tortelli, in some different way, pupkin, beets, and potatoes flavoured with butter, onion and tomatoes rosted. is a typical italian trattoria, rustic and scenical. The road is very small and winding.
