The execution of the regional cuisine (Piemontese) is from average to good. In general the dinner is a bit overpriced when compared to similar places in Antagnod. As starters, excellent tomini (soft cheese), salami and carne cruda (raw meet). Average mushroom, fried zucchini blossoms and red peppers. As desserts, good panna cotta and average tiramisù.

From the moment you get the the excellent breads and the 'amuse bouche', which is in fact a whole dish filled with delicacies prepared with a variety of techniques, ranging from tempura to a spherification of tomato, you realise you're in for a good experience. The menu reads very well and you want to try everything, but we were in for a light dinner and we limited ourselves to first/starter and main. Cappelletti pasta with ossobuco had a very good filling and sauce (pasta slightly brittle). Moelleux of asparagus was a refined and flavoursome starter. The mains were great: I've eaten many ducks, but this breast was one of the deepest tasting and best cooked I've tried this year. The accompanying meatball would also have been perfect except for a bit of overcooking which reduced moistness. The artichokes going with it however were ideal. And a lamb featured again good and nicely cooked produce, but what elevated this dish were the garnishes, including dates, dried roses and a chickpea puree (described as hummous though I don't think there was any tahini). We skipped desserts, but with our tea excellent petit fours were offered which promise well for the patisserie section... Beside the quality of the produce and the technique, there's a pleasant sense of generosity in this restaurant. The room is warm and impressive and tastefully decorated, in a former granary. Service is competent and polite. Food prices represent quite good value for money considering the quality (and even the quantity, which is higher than average for restaurants of this quality). A place to return to at the next opportunity.

We got several recommendations about this restaurant, we tried one evening but they were fully booked what raised our expectations. We ate several dishes of beef in various sauces, all came medium-rare mine was covered by arogola leaves and Parmesan, it was ok but not more, my dearest had the blue cheese sauce but the meat was too under done for her so she returned it to the kitchen, our friend had the red wine sauce and his dearest had the capresa salad and the polenta everything was ok but maybe the expectation was too high because i5 was not more than ok....

We stayed in the B&B next door which offered a good discount on Les Guillates. We ate here one night. Choice was typical of the region (lots of polenta with meat, sausage, cheese etc.) and was served in good sized portions from friendly staff. Starters were slightly pricey in my view but otherwsie - good value. Good home cooking in great location - nice bar outside too for a pre-dinner drink.

It was a real trek to find this place because we followed google maps which sent us through fields and gardens. We nearly gave up when confronted by two agressive (but thankfully rather old) dogs determined to prevent us making it through the last 50 metres. Barbara Woodhouse training instincts took over. How do you say SIT in Italian? Very nice place. A bit like someone's home. Pizzas are excellent and warrant a visit. A wide choice and pleasant service. House wine was extremely dodgy however. We stupidly ordered a litre and discovered something like my Dad's 70's home brew but with a light fizz. Sort of Ribena on acid. They only had one other bottle of red (actually two half bottles) which we gratefully ordered and which was served in liqueur glasses. We left the Chateau Ribena. It is really worth it though for the Pizza.

Mountain cuisine from Val D'Aosta
I have to admit I definitevely love to eat. And for people like me, this is one of the more interesting place where to go to have lunch. Food is completely outstanding, receipts are the original mountain-like and the ingredients are amazing fresh and tasy. Cheese choice is just one of the arrows on this place' arch, their Wine is a perfect combination with the meal. Please be aware that it is you that decide when food is enough. Take your choice correct.:)

We came to Estoul after a long walk in the mountains and were very very hungry. We ordered a "polenta with carbonada". The portions were big, the dish was very delicious and we remained extremely satisfied with this place, the staff is friendly and open, the place is simple and cosy. A great discovery, recommended.

Located at the base of the small ski resort Col de Joux, the Etoile de Neige offers a good menu of typical Asota valley foods, polenta, sausage, game stew, cheeses and so on. We enjoyed our meal on the terrace under the sun watching a few skiers in spring skiing conditions. Inside the restaurant has great atmosphere with wood stove, wooden tables, carvings and a great looking bar. Everything is very cosy. It's a winding but scenic drive drive up the mountain from Saint Vincent but worth the visit for a nice meal even if you don't ski.

The dining room is spacious and bright with large windows directly overlooking the lake. The pine panelling, the antique wooden beam ceiling and the finest decoration make the atmosphere warm and cosy. The restaurant is open to external guests and is famous
This wooden alpine atmosphere restaurant offers great meals at a reasonable price. The view is great overlooking a lake. Having taken for primi the taglioni with ragu di capriolo and for secondi the Carbonade, I can assure you this was worth to drive up there from St Vincent where we stayed (although this may be a scary drive night time for those not used to mountainous roads).

We visited this restaurant three times in our stay in the Ayas valley in December 2018. The first time we were amazed by the number of different dishes that kept appearing - all tasty and including local specialities. The subsequent visits were the same - plentiful tasty food and pleasant staff. We would recommend this restaurant and also dined here with two vegetarians who were catered for well.
