Just a few miles from the borders of both Monaco and France, floral Bordighera has been a favorite resort destination for British visitors since the 19th century, when Queen Victoria herself was a guest. The town has many lovely gardens (like Pallanca and Winter), an archaeological museum (the Bicknell) and a lovely old town, but most come for the beach and seafront promenade.

This restaurant is a true gem. Run by two young chefs it offers excellent food and top-level cocktails and wines. I travel a lot and living in London gives me a good idea of excellent food and restaurants. The restaurant offers fantastic sushi with local fish and amazing modern Italian cuisine. The cocktails can compete with the best in London and New York. This restaurant - NOVANTIQUA - is on my global list of the best restaurants. Miss in on your own peril. A must if you're in the Monaco and Riviera region.

We are always happy to make a road trip for an exceptional meal. Well, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. The doors open at 12:30, and in a matter of minutes, this place is packed. Most everyone likes a bargain, and a 23E menu is a bargain along the Riviera. I commend people who are brave enough to start a restaurant on the main street of a town that seems to be struggling. Service is friendly and the small menu appears to offer nice variety.I don't enjoy writing negative reviews; but sometimes they are necessary. Italians,with all of their regional and local specialties are justly proud of the culinary skills and traditions. But, just because it is a free country, they shouldn't be allowed near curry powder without some detailed instruction. Two of our 4 non dessert dishes contained curry, and neither was anything to write home about. My wife was somewhat pleased with her pennette with salmon which had a touch of curry. I tasted it, and found it a distraction. My pasta dish was heavily laden with "piquante" spices. The results-heat and no light. It was dry and out of politeness, I ate a third of it.As to main courses, my wife's thinly sliced roast beef with arugula was fine, but that would be pretty hard to muck up. My chicken curry was just a big bowl of small pieces of chicken drowning in curry sauce. Assuming the restaurant reads this review, you might consider adding some rice and chutney. The overall effect was monotonous and lacking any subtlety.There may have been other dishes that were more successful, but we felt we had lost out.Desserts most likely came from a nearby patisserie or commercial kitchen. OK, but nothing to write home about.There are much better restaurants in Bordighera. Sorry to say, but this experience was disappointing.

We love to come here for dinner. Itâs minimalist, modern, relaxed and welcoming. We have only ever had excellent food and wine here. Dress up or come casual it really doesnât matter. Itâs right on the beach, and when you come for the first time just follow the signs. Very difficult to get a taxi from this restaurant at night so be prepared to walk or drive.

We enjoyed Sunday lunch here. It was packed and deserved to be. Great food - anchovies, mixed antipasto, gnocchi with pesto , octopus with beans (delicious and delicate), rabbit. I enjoyed the Slow Food dishes in particular. Good to see Slow Food has found its way to Bordighera. Interesting wine list. Fairly priced. Nice atmosphere and it was good to be up in Bordighera Alta and to explore this lovely part of town.Service was delightful. Our young waitress could not have been more helpful and she spoke good English too. Recommended.

This pizzeria is just down the street from where I have been living in Bordighera since November 2017. Blue Lagoon is just across the street, and I know my laziness has taken me there when my yearning for pizza needs to be fed. I decided today that it was time for a change. Il Cappero has only a few tables; I always try to beat the crowd when I'm eating alone and I also have American eating habits that regulate the timing of my hunger. I arrived at 7:10 pm and the tables were full within the next 30 minutes. In that time, 5 or 6 people also came in for pizza to go. I ordered a glass of red wine for 3⬠and Pizza Bordighiotta which was topped by tomato sauce, mozzarella, prosciutto crudo, rocket, gorgonzola, and another cheese unfamiliar to me which was shaved on top of everything else. Pizza prices range from 8⬠to 12â¬, and this was at the top of the range. The fresh tomatoes were sweet and delicious and the rocket was fresh and crisp. The pizza crust was light and crispy at the edges, not overly doughy. There is also a decent selection of traditional Italian pasta and seafood dishes, including a regional pasta called Fioche alla Genovese--pasta with potatoes, green beans and pesto. This will be my "go to" place for pizza, and I look forward to trying other menu selections. I highly recommend, but either go early or make a reservation.

We absolutely loved this café-restaurant. Situed opposite the Bordighera railway station, it is a gem. Very fresh, only Italians (except for us :), menu only in Italian (which is always a good sign!). We had lunch there: spaghetti, cooked to al dente perfection, with garlic, hot pepper, spinach, and succulent calamari. We would definitely go back. I think I'll try Polpo next time. Yum, yum! The photo may look basic, but this was honestly probably one of the best pasta dishes we've ever had! â¬12 per person for the main, â¬1 for fresh cool filtred water served in a bottle (â¬25 for two). Delicious bread which tasted homemade. Only downside was that we waited quite awhile to be served, but there was alot of ambiance to be enjoyed and for me that is also a good sign of freshness.

One of the worst experience!.....First of all we had booked... Private Beach. At arrival a lady tells us that we can change in a specific Cabin (with a key on the lock). She gives us 2 matress at the extreme right corner nearby the public beach! ; ????? Upon the more than 50 matresses avalaiblme there was only 10 used by clients! Notice that we arrived at 11:30 AM.and plenty in front of the restaurant!!!So to make it clear plenty of place and free matresses.Very feww clients.Then someone comes to tell us that the cabin is for all...? Among the 20 others which were free with a key on the door!So we went back to collect our stuffs.No cabin ...? Keep in mind we had booked!Then since the sea was a bit wavy; we decided at 12:15 go go to the restaurant (Table was booked as well).The waitress inform us that all the food is fresh ans local seafood ; prawns and fishs.So we took the praws and the Brandade.and 2 cokes.To go to the final point:The prawns came uncooked; with the inside raw; the guts splitted all over the plate as I removed the head of the first one.Then I noticed that they are not "Chatrées" or castrated means you remove the black intestinc running from the head to tail!!!!!Concerning the other dish... Even worse, the smell and taste was disgusting ... well It tasted like S..; t... You Know...The wiatress came with her boos ; the lady took the plate back to kitchen. She came back telling us that we can change...I offered to pay and go; she said there nothing to pay.So we left the place with ;;;; No regrets.

Total disappointment! We ordered fish soup âalmost bouillabaisseâ as it said on the menu. In came what might be the worst Iâve ever gotten in a restaurant; some brown, smelly stuff with two fish bits in. It tasted the way it looked. We said arrivederci and left.

NIce place in the old town of Bordighera. We had lunch on the terrace with a view out over the old town to the sea. Relaxing and sunny. Nice choices on the menu that was translated by the wait staff - very helpful. I had the Coniglio alla Ligure and my wife had ravioli. The rabbit was excellent and surprisingly presented like a large pot pie. My wife's ravioli she thought was over done and reheated. Dessert was excellent as was the house wine. Very reasonably priced at Euros 55. Service was good although the orders were switched but we easily switched plates!!Overall worth the visit.
