Einlullender Ausblick. Spartanisch typisch Italo friesisches Ambiente. Kein Chi Chi und überhobenes "come sta.. tutto vabene Maestro und so...

The Italian Serra family knows how to bake a pizza. There's two kinds of pizzes on the menu; the 'regular' and the 'authentic'. My advice; go authentic! Another advice; order a Mirto as after dinner drink, you will not regret it! There's a lively atmosphere; very suitable for families with children. Nothing posh and very affordable.

We had dinner here with our friends, who had recommanded this restaurant. We had baguette with 3 different toppings as an entree and they were nice. The main meal was excellent. We had the beef fillet and it was very tasty and very tender. Our friends had the osso buco and that was very good as well. We shared a Tiramisu and that was okay. We were seated outside as weather was beautiful and it was very pleasant. The service was very friendly.

We came here on a Tuesday evening recently and enjoyed the simple pleasures of eating decent pizzas and relaxing. The Turkish waiter was very friendly and helpful as he jumped from German to English to Dutch to a little bit of Turkish. This still didn't stop a few misunderstandings such as the alcohol free beer delivered to our 12 year old son who had asked for malz beer. Three of us ordered pizzas which were great and significantly better than those we had in another Italian in the area recently (see other Tripadvisor report). My gorgonzola special pepped up with some hot chilli sauce left me with hot lips :-)My wife went for the ali oli (sic) with many capers and a tomato sauce which she liked. It's amazing that the whole restaurant was running with one waiter and a very busy man in the kitchen - not bad! What we have missed in all Dutch restaurants to date is a decent price/quality relationship, any little nibbles or bread/butter before ordering and a free schnapps at the end of the meal.
A fine Italian restaurant. Do not expect haute cuisine. But that's fine. Just a No-Nonsense Italian restaurant. With surprising dishes and pizzas

This place is great. The pizza iz pretty good. The wine is not terrific, but passable. If you want ice cream for dessert, he will go across the street & get it at the ice cream shop & bring it to you. Yes, the best part about this place is the owner, who is a retired merchant seaman. He just does this for fun. Don't be alarmed when he takes a seat at your table and starts talking. He's got a silly sense of humor, and you will be happier after your chat with him! If you're a snob, have no sense of humor, think too highly of yourself or don't want a stranger chatting away at your table, don't come here. For the rest of us, it's a great, friendly spot!!!

Pingjum is a small village in the largely agricultural province of Friesland in the north of Holland. This province is a gem to visit - particularly if you don't like mountains; it's absolutely flat. It's off the beaten path and with its capital Leeuwarden in 2018 Cultural Capital of Europe. To find an excellent Italian restaurant in a very small village, comes as a bit of a surprise. It's extremely popular and you have to reserve well in advance, as they have two sittings and are not open all week. Apparently it draws crowds from well outside the province. Quite rightly, as the food is amazing. The Pizzeria Pingjum is small and cosy, with a relatively low ceiling and a stone floor. If you're thinking of spending a romantic evening together, speaking quietly - forget it: the hard surfaces make that you can easily understand conversations a few tables away, but you have to shout to your own table partner. One other reason why your evening could be a painful experience, is that the chairs are hard and (too) small, especially for somewhat larger visitors. We were with a group of 4 and three of us had painful backsides and thighs from the hard wooden chairs which seemed to stab us. That way, two hours for a quiet meal can be a long time. And it is such a shame to be uncomfortable in this place: the service is pleasant, although a bit hesitant and shy, and the cooking is out of this world: the menu is relatively limited and the specialties of the day are chalked on a board. The shell starters are great, just like the fried calamari. They were the best I've had for a long time. There's a large array of pizzas, each topping more wondrous than the other. I had a white pizza, nice and thin, topped with Sardinian sausage, onion, fennel, and all sorts of other delicacies. We all enjoyed the (slightly pricey) food and the house wine, which was OK. But days later our ears were still ringing with the noise and our backsides were still hurting from the spikes chairs. Remedy those two problems, Pizzeria Pingjum, and you have a wonderful go-to place.
Vriendelijke dame die serveerde, shoarmaschotel zag er smakelijk uit, wel raar je vraagt Spa rood en je krijgt dan een blikje zonder rietje of glas. Kortessem hotel was ook smakelijk.

What started out as a Shoarma vendor twenty years ago is now pretty much the go-to place for Pizza: when Italian restaurant Ponte Vecchio is closed, or when you need to change up flavours. The products are mediocre of quality, nothing out of the ordinary. But what this restaurant is lacking in terms of exquisitism of the food, it makes up by the charm and whittyness of it's owner, mister Baba himself. He likes to come by your table during your visit, to have a little chat and give you a personal touch. No, Baba does not treat you as a number. (it's just too bad they handle your food order as numbers, still..)The tables have a bit more spacing than at Ponte Vecchio, giving you more room to do your thing if you require it. The interior is looking fresh with an authentic feel. When coming as a group, I would limit the group size to roughly 6, as they have a bit of a problem serving your order at the same time with larger groups - likely because of the size of their pizza oven(?)Prices are reasonable, but inquire about 'pizzadag' on Thursdays to save a few bucks.

In the Northern provinces of The Netherlands, Pizza is served differently than anywhere else I've come across. People are accustomed to Italian style dough, topped with layer upon layer of thick savory ingredient. As I have learned this style to be the default, growing up North, I'm always disappointed by the 'real' pizza and go as far as to import the Northern style Italian pizza all the way to Amsterdam. But enough of an introduction, let's get to reviewing this restaurant! The restaurant is situated in a quaint, cute building on the corner of one of the most central streets in Bolsward, in the historic downtown area, facing a canal and a bridge. The restaurant is generally packed so calling ahead for reservations is absolutely recommended. The interior is the way an Italian restaurant should look, cozy, busy, organized chaos in the open kitchen. (Don't make the mistake taking the side entrance, leading to the take-out section, which is offered just a sneak-peek into the restaurant from behind the bar, hahaha!)The chairs are sturdy, comfortable enough for an hour or two continuous use, tables are a tad on the small size when fully packed, there's hardly enough room to keep your drinks alongside the pizzas without the chance of them tipping over. The food is awesome! My personal favourite 'Northern' pizza is the 'Carbonara Speciale', though that is not to be found on this restaurant. A worthy replacement is the 'Possa Di Fassa', a monsterous large pizza filled with (and I'll have to translate roughly here for some of the ingredients) tomatoesauce, Mozzerella cheese, 'Ox sausage', salami, ham, chunks of beef steak and bacon strips. To make it even more complete, I have onion and Gorgonzola cheese added (also pondering a version with egg and Champignon mushrooms added alongside those extra toppings, though I fear it might collapse onto itself)..The resulting Italian pizza is very savoury, the bottom has a bit of a problem soaking up all the juices the cheese and meat release during the baking process, all in all the thing is roughly an inch thick, or thicker where the steak bits are, and is pretty much eligable for doggiebagging half due to it's sheer size. The taste is absolutely amazing and this brilliant concuction leads me to take 2 or 3 more as takeout after a visit for reheating back in Amsterdam.I would love this style of pizza to be available closer to home but the takeout will have to do for now. So on every occasion I visit the area, I go by this restaurant to get this exact pizza (x3 or x4), it's a must-visit.Word of caution, if you're used to the thin topping pizzas served in the rest of the world, this pizza might be too much for you and you better find something a bit more to your liking on their menu, which offers 80ish choices of pizza alongside of various other traditional Italian dishes.
