Reviews on Irish food in Kildare, Province of Leinster, Ireland. Kildare (Irish: Cill Dara, meaning "church of the oak") is a town in County Kildare, Ireland. Its population of 8,412 (2011 Census) makes it the eighth largest town in County Kildare and the 55th largest in the state, with a growth rate of 8% since the 2006 census. Although Kildare gives its name to the county, Naas is the county town. The town lies on the R445, some 50 km (31 mi) west of Dublin – near enough for it to have become, despite being a regional centre in its own right, a commuter town for the capital.

It's not the first time I've eaten here. As a golfer I played a few times here for my clubr and had a meal afterwards. This time I was there for a confirmation dinner. The surroundings as always were lovely... the staff very friendly.. we were a group of 10 with 3 children... we ordered several items off the menu... my pick was the Parma ham with tomato with mozzarella which was just Devine. My main was South Indian chicken curry. It was presented lovely but very bland... they mustn't use spices in South India. I was disappointed... we didn't have a desert as we had a confirmation cake. Wouldn't be ordering that again if I ever go again.... they certainly know how to charge also..

Made arrangements to meet my wifes family for an afternoon get together and lunch. There were 15 seniors in total and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. That day there was a 4 course lunch special for senior citizens priced at just 11 euro.Unbeliveable value and everyone enjoyed the food which can only be described as excellent. Well done Dowlings, we will certainly return regardless of your special lunch menu.

Was passing by when we decided to go in for lunch. From the outside it looks impressive but unfortunately the same cannot be said for the inside. The premises was drab and dull and could do with a good clean. The menu had a good variety of choices.I had a toasted blt.It came out made with a big leaf of lettuce between the bacon and tomatoe,Very little thought given to presentation with some fries that were not properly cooked.Would not recommend this place very disappointing and certainly no interaction from staff.

We stopped here on our way from Dublin to Killarney. We were tired, hungry, and ready for a warm lunch. We randomly chose this little cafe/sandwich shop and it was crazy perfect. It's a quaint spot with great staff and delicious food. I highly recommend it!

This was a joy to visit and seemed popular with locals. The menu is eclectic and broad, but not in the 'everything out of the freezer, delivered from food service' way. The Thai options were very nice and we all enjoyed our food. The atmosphere is very nice and the staff are very helpful and welcoming. Definitely to be recommended.

Restaurant And Gastro Bar Serving Beer And Wine On Draft. We Offer Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner And A Selection Of Homemade Salads And Meats.
I was recommended this place by a work colleague and went for lunch. My friend and I were not disappointed. There was a good selection on the menu and there were some good specials as well. We both plumped for the burgers. The food was cooked fresh to order. We couldn't believe the size of the food portions. They were huge but really tasty. We loved the chips. They were so tastyI can heartly recommend this place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the shopping village as a little haven of calm

Kildares newest restaurant , chilled out vibe great food made with local fresh ingredients by award winning chef owner Aidan Kelly in a rustic and laid back modern dining experience
we dropped in here for lunch with no great expectations, the service was excellent and unlike so many eateries the chicken wings had loads of chicken on them. their soup was excellent with very tastie chips. will be back for a night meal having since heard great reviews of their steaks. both bar and retaurant staff were excellent.

called on a sunday afternoon.............over busy......steps everywhere............food quality poor to very poor.................would like to call again, but not on a sunday..........Dear TomThank you for feedback. We are sorry you had a bad experience with us...I have passed on your comments to our head chef and we would have certainly changed your meal on the day if it was not up to our usual standard. Our Sundays are always busy as we are a well known venue for Sunday Lunch and our Carvery and if it was All Ireland Final Sunday you called we would be a popular pit stop for lots of GAA supporters!I hope we will see you again in The Silken Thomas and Kildare Town.

Lovely restaurant with friendly, helpful welcoming staff.A good range of options for those with allergies, with staff able to offer advice etc... very reassuring for those with allergies.Food was lovely and reasonably priced.Downside no real options for desert other than sorbet.Would recommend and will be returning.
