Reviews on International food in Western Cape, South Africa. South Africa’s most popular tourist destination offers the urban thrills of Cape Town, its adjacent wine country and an aura of the rich political history of South Africa. The Overberg's perfect whale-watching perches provide excitement of a different nature. The Garden Route's lakes and forests and the Klein Karoo's ostrich-farming towns and vineyards present another take on the Cape. For extra kicks, try bungee jumping or cage-diving among Great Whites.

Helena's Restaurant at Coopmanhuijs aims to serve heritage food with finesse, often with subtle twists in the detail, thereby turning the familiar into the spectacular. The menu is designed to reflect the bounty of the Boland, with specific emphasis on fr
We visited this restaurant recently, it was an OK experience. The food was good, lamb & risotto. Our feeling was that the restaurant is trying a little too hard to be excellent. Atmosphere was not relaxed a little starchy. My wife and I shared a bottle of wine, which was kept on a table at the end of the room, so we had to wait for our waitress each time we needed a top up, which was odd. We expected more from our evening, but it is ok.

Our passion for quality ingredients began from an early age whilst growing up on farms around South Africa. From Somerset West, Magaliesburg to eventually Baynesfield & Vryheid in Kwa Zulu Natal. We feel blessed to have experienced nature and its bounty a

Come and join us in our conservatory style restaurant facing a grove of oak and blue gum trees on beautiful White Water Farm, 8km from Stanford. We serve grilled food and sides of delicious salads and vegetables in a mediterranean style on platters design
We had a delightful dinner in a gorgeous setting. Being a fussy eater it would take a lot for me to try new things. So glad that the smells from the kitchen entice a bite of every delicious morsel. The service was also lovely to suit a special evening.

An excellent restaurant for lunch. Book in advance for a table at the window with a view over the lovely valley. The food comes in small portions but is excellent. The duck came off the bone effortlessly. Very tasty. Great wine pairing. Great place to lunch!

Our waitress Andy was delightful and knowledgeabl, the restaurant manager Flo was amazing and charming. The food was world class, we came from Switzerland and especially booked here to experience what we had heard so much about.Beautifully prepared imaginative menu with superb wine pairing. As in all establishments the chef/owner normally appears sometime during the course of the service for a short exchange with his guests, but Matt spent the entire evening talking with his regular customers and ignored the rest, he came past us and looked me straight in the face, I said âgood eveningâ and he turned tis nose up and walked purposefully away!My whole party were shocked and quite disgusted at this extremely rude and arrogant behaviour, and the people we were dining with who have just moved to the Cape have vowed never to return again! What a shame!Matt; you should stay at home or meet your friends elsewhere and leave the people sponsoring your lifestyle to enjoy their meals without suffering your arrogance,Thank you for the splendid review on the food, we are an incredibly passionate bunch, obsessed a bit , who love to get creative with the flavour combinations and wine pairings, and I believe that this love is what you experienced with us. I am pleased that you had such a great experience and that you received great service from Andy and that Flo made you feel welcome. I visit almost every table every night, balance working in the kitchen, the bar supporting my front of house team and tending to my guests- this can be intense sometimes. Sitting with my guests is my favourite part of the enjoyment of doing what I do, and welcoming guests into my home(spun) is at the top of my list. Iâm really sorry that I didnât sit with you. Next time you come I would love to join you, but only if you have a tequila with me

Restaurants and food.
Visited for Saturday lunch. Although the restaurant only had about 5 tables, several waiters and a âhostessâ, service was glacial. Our starter plates and empty glasses remained on the table for 20 minutes before being cleared. We then ordered some wine which after 10 mins still had not arrived after which point we left. We could see the âhostessâ had been made aware of this but seemingly could care less. As for the food, the risotto was completely overcoooked into a mush. Awful.

This has to be my favourite restaurant Iâve ever been to. From the moment we arrived the team were so attentive. The taster menu is excellent and even better with the paired wines. Everything blended so well together. Brilliant service, great tasting food and wine. Next time Iâm here Iâll be back. Fantastic

Exquisite view and ambience. Service was of an excellent standard. Although the 3 course special is exceptional value for R295, we didnât want dessert and therefore opted to share the carpaccio starter which was good. The mains were exceptional. I had the line fish and my husband had the loin of Springbok. We would definitely return. Highly recommended and good value.

Luckily I made a reservation in time to get a table, as they fill up very quickly, even out of season. My favourite dishes are still on the menu, soufflé starter, the prawn pasta and the artichoke risotto. Lovely local wines by the glass or bottle, and Inne's naughty sense of humour all add up to make a wonderful experience.

Join the Social Table for a totally unique dining concept. An eclectic space to eat, drink and be merry with some fabulous company. Table d' Hote style eatery with a set 5 course dinner, paired with boutique wines from around the Western Cape. Perfect for
We were a little nervous about trying this social table concept because weâre not the most social people but we are sooooo glad we decided to give it a try! The atmosphere is super cosy and friendly inside the restaurant. The owner Julia and her sous-chef Melissa are so genuinely friendly and passionate about food that they really made this experience extraordinary for us! Most of their customers are tourists so it allows for meeting people from all around the world and sharing travel experiences. Julia has selected some local wines and then drew up her menu based on the pairing with the wines. The menu features local seasonal vegetables, oysters, king clip, ostrich, beef two ways, and of course a delicious dessert! Every plate was thought out to perfection with lots of flavors that complimented the wines perfectly! All the ingredients are fresh and locally sourced, and we loved tasting high end South African food! We loved when Julia took time to sit at the table with us to join the conversation. Everything was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented! We loved everything and had the most wonderful and memorable evening! Thank you so much!
