A friend had recommended we try the FAWC special of beef cheeks with a glass of shiraz wine all for $25, so we did. The meal was excellent. Such delicious flavours and the meat cooked perfectly and so tender. An excellent meal and excellent value.

We go to AVK regularly for brunch but hadn't had dinner here. We really enjoy the brunch and were interested to see how dinner compared (after seeing a movie with friends next door). It did not disappoint. There were 4 of us and everyone loved their meals. It was about 3-4 weeks ago now so can't remember the small details but all 4 of us just had a main meal (no starter and no dessert). We all had red meat dishes of some sort and all of us really enjoyed the food and service. I think both ladies had the lamb (delish) and the blokes had beef. Being a regular for brunch I had been curious about the dinner offering for some time...and now my curiosity has been satisfied in the best possible way.One other point to make: I dined today for brunch and, despite it not being on the brunch menu, they do a lovely muesli.

Approx 30 of us arrive unannounced (very sorry, was a last min decision) for a family brunch before we all headed home. The staff were extremely professional, helpful and attentive given the amount of us and a mixture of old, young and children. Thank you Station bar! You were all fantastic and the food was delicious!

Booked in for the FAWC lunch which was a game pie matched with a glass of wine for $25.00.I had the vegetarian option which was mushroom and parmesan on mash with spinach. The pie was delicious (I couldnât taste much parmesan) and the wine match perfect. I also had the cheesecake which was salted caramel. It was a very large slice and just average in my opinion.Service was quite slow as the restaurant and bar was very busy.We ate with friends so had an enjoyable time.

Our first visit... brunch with friends from out of town. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was tasty and well price. The decor is dark for a brunch, but has outside seating if the weather is settled.Good service and good value. 252antoinetteb,Many thanks for your post and great to see that you enjoyed your breakfast. We have many different areas within the Emporium to enjoy and are about to expand our outside area to make the most of the Hawkes Bay weather. It's just a shame that on the day you came in it was not the best for outside dining.Once again thanks for you feedback and we look forward to hosting you back again soon.Kind regardsRob & the Emporium team

The reviews were promising an we had a friend in town. We arrived on time and were seated although the restaurant was not well heated Om a cold night. Ordered our drinks and food from an average menu. We had a good catchup with our guest and after an hour realised we did not have our meals yet others had finished. I raised this with the waiter. After a delay he returned to advise our order had been lost. We re-ordered and were promised our meals would be given urgent priority. After another 20 minutes and no meal I complained . There was a major war going on in the kitchen and the chef swore (literally) she was doing her best. Another 10 minutes our dinner was served. Meals were very average and protein was accompanied by boring cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots - no sauce. Cashier tried to calm us by offering a small discount. Not sure why we needed to pay for anything - this is the worst service ever!New Zealand restaurants do not know how to handle complaints.
