What a lovely find in Groningen. Right by the water, the Harbour Cafe is larger than it looks. A perfectly small menu, out of Lobster and cod when we ordered at 8pm - a good sign that everything is fresh in daily! Our meal consisted of sharing a fish platter to start - beautifully fresh choice of smoked salmon, samphire salad, prawns, tuna with capers and fresh bread. My son opted for a rare steak, he said was perfectly cooked. My husband had turbot and and I had the amazing Bouilliabaise, jam packed with fish. The vegetables that accompanied all meals, were perfectly; fresh broad beans, fresh peas and samphire - did I mention how fresh it all was?Unfortunately we were too full for desserts but managed coffee instead.A lovely evening - visit soon if in Groningen. Thanks Jo! We work hard to get the best fresh ingredients every day. Your review makes it worth it. We're glad you appreciate it!

The place offers menus of 4-7 courses with or without wine and the rest is a surprise , where in our case we gave them some restrictions of some of us do not eat. This they took into account, at times substituting A for B for the person concerned. The food was well prepared, elegantly arranged, tasty and, beware, small portion (excellent for people like me), with mostly well-chosen wines to go with each course if you choose the with wine option. At ~ 80 Euro for 5 courses with wine/person this is not cheap but not expensive either, esp. as it is a culinary experience (time flies; we were there for 3.5 hrs, without really noticing that time wnwnetet by!)

Coffee, Genever, Beer and also good bread and fillings. More than 50 different beers, even their own Ja Beer. Lots of snacks at any time, bread, salad, Flammkuchen. A place to be - with tradition. Efficient and fast service. Reasonably priced.

We hadnât realised that the different sections all had different menus. We could oversee a different section from the wine bar area and got a lot of food envy! What we had was tasty and it was good to see local options as well as international options. The cocktails need more description for those outside the cocktail bar and unable to ask the staff. We took a punt on a couple and they werenât that nice. I asked the waiter to ask the cocktail experts for something very sweet that didnât really taste of alcohol. Have done this in multiple places and got absolutely delicious results. He basically talked me into something else off the menu which was undrinkable. We gave up and went to another bar. Would be 3* but the very funky decor added a star!

This is a 3 level restaurant tucked away at a lively thorough in the city. Servicing staff is helpful and really put an effort to make the evening enjoyable. We talk the 3 course menu, which consisted of an starter with 3 types of meat (tartare, âbitterballâ, slice of meat) followed by duck. Well I knew I was gambling, but this is not the place where they know how to prepare a duck breast. It was not tender, juicy as it should be. Please pay attention. All in all I judge this at a okish place, just above par
