Yesterday we went with our friends for a dinner to Mirch Masala Restaurant . This was based on movie theme dhaba . The walls were appointed either with comic paintings of erstwhile Hindi movies or antique utensils . The seating arrangement was a little bit cramped . Due to winter the special winter vegetables such as Hara lassuniki subzi and Sarasonda saag were introduced which we ordered alongwith Mugh lassuni , jeera mutter pulao and Makkidi roti . We washed down this spicy , succulent , tasty food with Punjabdi lassi . The food was excellent and fresh .Apart from the food , i was highly impressed by the customer friendly service . After finishing our food we used the finger bowls . Then I ordered a plate of four Jalebis . When the waiter brought the Jalebis in a small plate , he brought four more plates for us . Then , at the end he again brought us the finger bowls . This gesture of hom prompted me to pay him the handsome tip .

We went on valentines day.Restro was well decorated and sitt5is very comfortable.Have ordered Panner Butter Masala And cheese Garlic Naan Dum Biriyani is their best Biriyani. Ofcourse Butter milk and Patiyala Lassi is worth to try. Usually there is waiting so I suggest to go early.

Just visited Canara coffee house as told it is the oldest South Indian restaurant in vadodara operating since1945. Menu is select not many items but consistently taste for decades. Ordered vada sambhar dahi wada and masala uttapam. All are fine. Uttam very good tasty and big portion.dahi wada is typical that sweet dahi speciality of restaurant in vadodara n Ahmedabad. Good food at reasonable price slightly more then street food.

I visited the restaurant after several years and the food quality is similar - very good local preparations. However, the restaurant was half empty at prime time for dinner and I guess it may be because it only serves one cuisine and everyone wants variety.

Great variety in food, was the pioneer in lavish buffets in vadodara. Ample amount of desserts for options. Their Tiramisu & chocolate pudding are mouth watering. Pasta & chaat live counters are also good. Something for everybody in the buffet. Now they have changed management from Surya Palace to Grand Mercure - Accor group. Not visited after change.
