My wife and I went there for dinner last night. We ordered the chicken korma and lamb korma. It was delicious. The atmosphere was s quiet and relaxed until a bunch of about 40 old aged overseas tourists came in and spoiled it all. I never knew overseas tourists can be that loud and disrespectful toward other dining guests. It took about 5 minutes for all the locals to clear out the restaurant because of the noise.

First introduced to this restaurant from using a Hyperli voucher, we have since been back 4 times. Situated inside Gateway, this smallish venue produces mouthwatering eastern dishes and their curries are quite out of this world. The portions are generous and all side extras that we have tried have been of good quality and fresh. The only downside is we found their wine prices to be on the high side. Otherwise definitely worth a visit for good eastern cuisine.

Friends recommended Indian Summer and said their Butter Chicken is a must - and I was not disappointed! The food is a nice mix of Indian and Asian (Indo-Chinese) choices... I don't usually go for vegetarian options, but I had a fantastic Gobi (cauliflower) starter, and the other vegetarian options sounded very appealing. The Butter Chicken I had for my main course had a lovely tomato flavour without being overpowering, and the Madras Lamb was also very tasty. We ordered Naan and a bowl of rice, and it was plenty food for 2 people, without costing the earth. The decor was simple and clean, but could do with a few tweaks to create a more intimate ambiance. I'll definitely be back!

Masala Masala is a upmarket indian restaurant situated in Umhlanga. Home of the authentic Durban curry.
We arrived at 8pm to an empty resturant and were only guests until we left an hour later. Waitresses were friendly but spoke limited english. Food very tastey but small portions. Lamb curry was particularly good but had a significant portion of bones. I've dined in several indian resturants and these are the smallest portions I have come across. Got the impression that the resturant either opened recently or is not thriving. If not for the tastey food, I would have rated it 2Good day to you mam. I am delighted to hear that you found the food tasty, as we pride ourselves on producing the best. I took your order on the day, 1 starter and 1 main meal a lamb curry, shared between 2 adults, as you had advised. Our meals are weighed, portioned and priced for individual servings, the practice on an a la carte menu. May I recommend that you order per person on an a la carte menu, so to avoid missing out on a such gastronomic delights. With warm wishes Beverly. Ps. Your pic attached is of the starter and not the lamb curry you mentioned

This place is more for horse punting & have an eating place upstairs. I once tried a beans bunny, not to my satisfaction. They use coloring in all their foods not the real spices. Keep out of this place. i'll never to go there again & recommend to my friends to stay out.Spoke to the person about the food coloring been used, he was abrupt, told me find another place to my requirements.Hi Roop NThank you for your feedback. As Hollywoodbets, we are first and foremost a betting establishment (the name tells you this), however we do take a lot of pride in our food, and the service we give to customers. This can be seen by the number of people who do enjoy their experience at our establishment. We have opened our Hollywood Bunny Bar in the retail centre across the road, which is solely a take-away and sit down restaurant, and has been made for clients who don't want to be in the betting environment. However, we are very concerned with regards to the person who spoke to you and who was abrupt, and we would like to get more information from you on who this was. Please could you email me your contact details on [email protected] and I will make sure that our Food & Beverage Operations Manager contacts you. We understand our food may have not been to your liking, but to tell people to stay away from us is a concern.A one-star rating is very bad for us, and we want to make sure that your concerns are addressed.Regards, [email protected]

CaneCutters is an Authentic local Indian restaurant in trendy Glenwood, Durban. Experience the world famous durban indian bunny chow of which we are officially the best in Durban, South Africa and therefore best in the world over as this is unique to Durb
Our second try at eating at CaneCutters. The first attempt was a fail. They didnât have any curry dishes available, which was a major let down. Heard much about the place and I was excited to try it out.Eventually we ate there tonight. The inside of the place was very appealing. I loved the decor and the colors. Seats comfy and tables was spacious.CaneCutters win Durbanâs best bunny, so for myself their was no other option. I ordered a mutton bunny. Ask for the deluxe, no bones. The amount of meat and sauce was perfect, but in fairness, I have had better. It was a typical bunny. Nothing exceptional about it. It was filled to the brim though. The bread was soft and easy to manage. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. I guess it is a good place to try out. They have burgers and chips, which defeats the purpose of being an Indian restaurant. Maybe next time I will try the burger.AlbertometerStaff 6Atmosphere 7Food 6Price 7 I can get a half bunny for the same price.

Weâre not usually big fans of hotel restaurants but Ocean Terrace is listed at #7 on Tripadvisorâs list of 114 restaurants in Umhlanga. It had to be worth a try, not least as we were staying at the Oyster Box Hotel where itâs located. Not least as, in addition to their fairly extensive menu, they also have a curry buffet. Now, these can be tricky. Buffets are rarely top quality food but South Asian food seems to stand up to it better than some other cuisines. Here, itâs done very well. The buffet was lacking starters so it was straight in to the main courses. There were about 10 dishes on offer â a good mix of vegetarian and non-veggie. Between the two of us, we managed to sample most of them â yes, one of us went back for extensive seconds having already had extensive firsts. Stand-outs were the âtraditional Durban lamb curryâ (tender meat, well rounded sauce), a butter bean curry, mixed vegetable curry (veg still retaining a little bite â not always a given with Asian food) and daal (a good chilli kick here)There was a vast range of things to go with your curries â raitas, pickles, chutneys. And several bowls of dried fruit â apricots, raisins , etc â which were very reminiscent of Indian meals in the UK when folk started to eat it back in the 1970s. But the retro touch was nice. Rice, not pilau and palin boiled, was good with fluffy separate grains. And thereâs chapattis and poppadums â the latter a bit greasy and not quite crisp enough. The buffet includes a pick from the three dessert items available. There was alovely almond kulfi and, served warm, a vermicelli pudding. I think the latter is a South African spin on the usually cold falooda. Good dinner!.
