Stevenage (/ˈstiːvənɪdʒ/ STEE-vən-ij) is a town and borough in Hertfordshire, England. Roughly 28 miles (44 km) north of central London as the crow flies, Stevenage is situated to the east of junctions 7 and 8 of the A1(M), and is between Letchworth Garden City to the north, and Welwyn Garden City to the south. On 1 August 1946, Stevenage was designated the United Kingdom's first New Town under the New Towns Act.

We were recommended to try the Bengal Lounge from a friend who regularly uses the restaurant & take away facilities. We ordered through just eat.Part of our order was 4 pots of mint sauce (simply because we like it a lot!) For some reason only got 2 pots. However we received an extra popadom from what was ordered. Plus a free portion of Bombay potatoes, which we found out via the friend that these are normally given free. The food however when it did arrive was absolutely delicious and will definitely be ordering from here again. Delivery wise, after the order was placed the restaurant added 10 mins to the time window. We didn't receive any updates of when it had left the restaurant. Not sure if this is standard practise. All in all very enjoyable.

We saw this takeaway hut in Stevenage town centre outside the EE shop and decided to give it a go. It is vegetarian only, my wife had samosa chaat which is a chickpea curry with a vegetable samosa and I had the onion bhaji wrap. The wrap was a little heavy for me but the chickpea curry was fresh and bursting with delicate flavours - a real delight.Iâve eaten here twice now and itâs both tasty and very different from what youâd normally get from an Indian restaurant. I spoke to the girl that runs the stall and she said sheâs going to add to the limited menu, next time Iâm definitely going to try the Indian style falafel wrap which looked great when I saw it being prepared for another customer. A good addition to the scant food offerings in Stevenage town centre..

We've never eaten I'm the restaurant, but had a taka way on Saturday night. Reasonable prices, delivered quite quickly, delicious passanda and my husband loved his jalfrezi. Peshwari naan was lovely and portions were good. Lovely little thank you chocolates too! We will definitely order again. Well done!

My friend and I visited this restaurant expecting to have a lovely evening and an enjoyable meal...Instead we had a terrible experience. The restaurant was near enough empty and very cold. The waiters were not very pleasant and the service cold and unhelpful. The music was loud and the waiters sat around in the restaurant in a group, chatting to eachother while we dined, which was very unproffesional. The were also very curt and unhelpful - and when I made a request for a dip, they said that the chef couldn't make a dip nor did they have it (I know that all Indian restaurants offer a spicy dip). The food was a big let down...We saw the hygeine rating upon leaving the restaurant and to our shock but expectation due to the food served, the rating was a 3! The food was cold, congealed, bland, the meat was horrible and tough and what was advertised as lamb was actually very tough and tasteless mutton. The rice was oily and the naan tasteless. This restaurant should really be closed down and sorted out. I haven't ever been so shocked by the experience that we had at that restaurant. I highly recommend that you do not visit the Raj Mahal.

Not the greatest surroundings or ambience in the restaurant but very good for a takeaway. Donât expect the same dishes as your local curry house, I understand that this is more authentic Indian fare.Great flavours but smallish portions, youâre paying for quality rather than quantity but I urge you to at least try here.

Visited here with my family today and from the start the waiter was so rude . Ordered drinks which arrived and were totally flat . waiter was so rude and took them only to replace with awful attitude and more flat drinks , We walked out he was so bad which never have done in any restaurant before now !!!! Donât bother visiting!!!!

Visited here on the spur of the moment as next door to the hotel and thought there would be something for all the family to enjoy. We arrived an hour before closing. There was a variety of foods such as Italian, Indian, Chinese and carvery etc. It all tasted nice and was nice to taste different foods encouraging my daughter to experience new things, would recommend the curries. Good service and good value for money for what you get. Wish we'd arrived earlier so more food would be available as obviously no longer cooking fresh due to closing

Well I love my Indian food and this is the first time I have ordered from the Surma the food was delicious 1st class , the portions are excellent and cooked superbly,sparkling flavours and will definitely be ordering from them again. Was delivered bang on time and just can't praise them enough, well done the Surma , looking forward to trying more from your menu excellent in every way.
