White House has now moved to No 42, Dalada Veediya, Kandy. Please look for "Foodlands Restaurant" as we have rebranded with a new look. Foodlands celebrates 26 years of operation in the town Kandy and is part of local food scenario for over 2 decades and
Popped in for impromptu lunch and we quickly escorted upstairs (I think where tourists are meant to eat!). Took the waiters recommendation - we all had Paratha (delicious) and I opted for a prawn curry. It was excellent - both in terms of quality and value. The place is obviously popular with tourists and locals. It is clean and friendly and I would definitely return. If you donât fancy spicy food, try their rice dishes - my sonâs chicken fried rice was really tasty.

They arenât âglobal foodâ, but âIndian foodâWe order a Chinese Wok Lamen with vegetables and other with chicken, it came without soy sauce, but very very spiced with Indian ingredients. I couldnât eat. They share the cuisine with the other restaurant âIndianâ besides. The desert was very good. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Not cheap food.

The standard South Indian fare was unexceptionable. We enjoyed the genuine flavours but enjoyed the equally genuine desire to make it an enjoyable experience for us even more. We went with young children. At one point the kind gentleman who owns this clean, basic establishment was practically feeding my three year old! We found the warmth shown to us very touching. Our tuck took driver had called in for directions as we set out for the restaurant, and we found the hospitable proprietor waiting for us by the street-side as we arrived. The sambar, with free refills, was very good with lovely idles and dosas. The coconut chutney and sambol was wonderful. A took took was found for us and the manager even arranged a reasonable fare for us in advance, more competitive than had been demanded from us for the same journey earlier. All in all, if you are after an experience that offers the originality and easy, working class friendliness which is more everyday and genuine than the typical posh, highly commercialised restaurant, this small, family run restaurant is un-missable and the family's hospitality unforgettable. The food is lovingly prepared and every possible care is taken to offer you it in a clean if basic environment. For the hour or so we spent there, we were made to feel like family guests and treated like valued friends. Oh, and for a family of five, with kids, doing full justice to the great food, it cost us less than $4!

We serve 50 Varieties of Dosai. Customer satisfaction is our motto.
Went for lunch and had the cheese and onion Marsala dosa. Wasnât sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was. The guy that served us was so nice and so helpful. The place was very clean with a wash basin to wash your hands as there isnât cutlery( they will provide it needed) We ate the Sri Lankan way which is a lot more fun and seems to taste so much better it also means you get to lick your figures with out people staring at you and thinking your being rude. Itâs a vegetarian restaurant which suited us just fine even though we occasionally like a little meat.

An authentic Indian restaurant with foreign Indian chefs bringing you an exquisite culinary experience. Located on the rooftop of Hotel Ganga Addara with views of the Mahaweli river. Alcoholic beverages available.
We came to this place based on the reviews saying how great the food is and that it's newly opened. We noticed it being a little dusty and grubby on arrival... but this is Sri Lanka and we don't expect European standards everywhere. We ordered some Lassi when they came they smelled off, tasted off, and had split/gone lumpy. We called the chef over who insisted they were fine. We decided to leave as we were worried about food hygiene. On going past the kitchen our worries were confirmed, we could see how filthy it was. Old dirt not mess after a busy service. The place was empty apart from us.We are really sorry for your bad experience at our restaurant. We care greatly for customer satisfaction and are very upset that your drinks were told to be fine. Please do visit us if you'd like again and we'd make sure to meet up with your satisfaction.
