The name of this town is derived from the goddess Kali. The town is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas and is a gateway to the neighbouring state of Himachal Pradesh. It is on the National Highway 22 between Chandigarh and Shimla, and it is the terminus of the Kalka-Shimla Railway. To the south of Kalka is Pinjore, and the industrial village of Parwanoo (Himachal Pradesh) is to the north on the NH 22. Industrial development has led to a continuous urban belt from Pinjore to Parwanoo, but Kalka remains largely unaffected by these developments. Nearby is Chandimandir Cantonment where the Western Command of the Indian army is based. In 2013 it has come under the jurisdiction of Panchkula Municipal Corporation and its municipal committee has been dissolved.

They have created an entire Rajasthani village over here showcasing their different traditions. They offer camel ride, horse ride, traditional dance performance, magic show, singing performance and have many other attractions. Now coming to food, it was really nice and tasty and they will serve you with all the love and would try to convince you to eat more and basically its a buffet. I would recommend this place to everyone to visit atleast once. NOTE - if you wanna go in the evening or during night then you need your own vehicle as its difficult to find a cab at that time for Chandigarh or Panchkula.

This place is good, good for family.... i visited this place yesterday, every thing was fine. But the staff of all activities, main gate drummer, magician, puppeteer, 2 lady dancers with pots and all others request for money from the guests. choki dhani is good , enjoyable place...and staff is very hospitable, but all of them were requesting for money...Ticket cost is very high, management should do something for the improvement for the staff... however the performance of the cultural staff was good.

We were looking for somting eat and found this shop. I ordered hakka noodles & french fried and test was not so good but price was reasonable (around 100 Rupees?).I think few choise to eat someting here.

Went for Evening snacks and also dinner on 2 different occasions, the restaurant is located on railway road, kalka, just 200 metres from station.The food is very good and service is all fine, they have variety of food though the indian cuisine is the best, also the ambience is quite good and hygenicprices are reasonable and it's approx 125-150pp for vegOverall a place to have meals if you are in Kalka

I really had a great experience staying in Lalit. It was my first visit at lalit Chandigarh but the property was awesome the staffs were very cooperative and kind. The had maintained the hygien and cleanliness. I would specially like to mention some staffs name who were very good during my stay Ms. Shahiba and Ms. Rameshwari.
