We had our first dining experience at Desi last evening, welcomed by very friendly staff, service was perfect, not rushed at all, good atmosphere, food was excellent, quite packed considering it was mid week, which speaks volumes. Would definitely go back, another little gem in Thurrocks crown.P.S. One for the ladies, I always think you can tell a lot by the cleanliness of the toilets, and they were top draw.

Like far too many Indian restaurants we have visited the staff were so busy with takeaway food that they neglected he customers dining in. We ordered papadums and then waited three quarters of an hour before we could get their attention to order a bottle of wine They then took our main order and needless to say this took ages to turn up too. Meanwhile all staff were running around after people sitting out the front waiting for take aways and rushing through with boxes for deliveries. Food was OK but service just too bad.

Visited with my husband, waiters so friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble, we were greeted warmly and we're seated, at a lovely table, drinks were bought quickly, while we perused the menu, we opted for tandoori king prawns and tandoori king prawn shaslick, a well done garlic naan, with extra garlic, and we also asked it to be thin as possible, tarka Dahl, and chana masala, and we weren't disappointed, when it arrived it was just as we asked for, no butter on the garlic naan, as requested, no cucumber on one of the side salads, everything as we asked for, and it was so delicious, we can't wait to go back, we throughly recommend the spice of india,

Just like a previous reviewer said, communication leaves a lot to be desired: I ordered a regular (2 fillings) wrap today, with lamb kofta and falafel. I saw the girl grab a lamb kofta and lamb seekh kebab, not falafel, so I reiterated that I wanted falafel. She said "yes, I know", but proceeded to filling the wrap with the two meats, so I asked again about the falafel, only to be told "oh, you want falafel? I asked you if you wanted these two and you said yes"! Needless to say, that had never happened. The other member of staff present ( Arab guy) stepped in and took over, he was clearly a lot more clued up and professional, although no apology was offered. The food was ok, nothing special: ingredients are all reheated in the microwave, so not what I call fresh, and there was far too little sauce in the wrap, so the overall result was dry. Also, I had asked for cheese, asking if it would melt in the toaster, I was told that it would, but it was still solid when I bit into it, so yet another disappointment. Probably won't be going back.Dear khadijaassoudi - Thank you for your review. I do take these matters very seriously. It is a disappointment that you found staff not to understand your order and not to be sympathetic when they made a mistake. Your feedback is invaluable for us to take the requisite actions to train the staff to deliver both product and service as we expect. It would be wonderful if you could return and explain to our manager what occurred so that we can turn your 2 stars into 5 stars.Regards.

Love this restaurant, love the quality and taste of the food. Service sometimes a little slow. The only thing that is a little discerning is that where as we use to go every couple of weeks it's got very expensive and I hope that this isn't going to be their downfall.
