Reviews on Indian food in Chester-le-Street, England, United Kingdom. Chester-le-Street (/ˈtʃɛstər li ˈstriːt/) is a town in County Durham, England. Its history goes back to the building of a Roman fort called Concangis. This Roman fort is the "Chester" (from the Latin castra) of the town's name; the "Street" refers to the paved Roman road that ran north–south through the town, and which is now called Front Street (shown at right).

We were staying at the local Travelodge and so this was a short walk away.An early evening visit for dinner, very friendly greeting and quickly seated at our table. There is an extensive, excellent menu and being connoisseurs of Indian cuisine we were spoilt for choice. Two courses were taken, we had no room for desserts because the cuisine was not only of exquisite quality but also of great quantity, added by some tasty extras. This was our favourite meal taken during our week's adventures throughout the North East region, fantastic experience, amazing cuisine, fabulous service and great value for money. The nightcap drink that was offered for free was a final nice touch to what was an amazing tribute to the very best of Indian cuisine, thank you to all concerned. Can any photo do justice...

Decided on an Indian meal on this particular night. It was spot in, definitely hit the spot.Cannot beat the popadoms and pickles followed by a chicken madras and washed down with a few lagers.Good service and friendly people. Will definitely visit again soon

So Burnopfield's an oddity isn't it? Having spent a few months there, the concentration of takeaways is truly staggering considering the population and size of the place. I'm sure sociologists would have a field day with that.... Anyway, I'd argue that Burnopfield Tandoori is the best. It has a good and varied menu. I've enjoyed everything that I've ever had from there. All of the food is well made, arrives on time and is about right on cost too. I'd be up for Burnopfield on most given Friday nights. So why no five stars? Well, traditional Burnopfield quirks don't help. No card machine, no online ordering, no website are all imperfections that irritate a whiny millennial like me. It's also not open for lunch. But perhaps more than that, the food is very good, but not great. There's nothing to make it stand out in a big way. Nothing innovative or particularly exciting. It's just a very good Indian takeaway. And if you put 4 stars into TripAdvisor it says ´very good´. But go, it's the best takeaway in Burnopfield for sure.

We called in recently for an early evening meal. The place is really clean. Waiters are attentive without being too pushy, food order and drinks were promptly dealt with and the food arrived soon after. Both our orders were cooked to perfection and very very tasty. This restaurant will certainly be on our list of places to re visit.Even better when you can park right outside as well.

Have had many excellent takeaways from here but last nights meal was below standard. Three very small garlic prawns as a starter, over cooked and chewy. The balti sauce was delicious but the lamb was over cooked and very tough. Chicken shaslick was delicious but had half the chicken usually served in the portion, it was mainly onions and peppers. Different staff behind the counter, different chef perhaps? Come on Haveli, I know you can do so much better!
