Big no for biryani enthusiasts. When specially asked and paid for goat biryani, the "exclusive Indian fine dining" restaurant by the ever so beautiful kingston foreshore decided to serve me lamb instead. Was charged for raita with biryani, which is absurd, and quite a sin to commit for an indian restaraunt, and I hope fellow enthusiast can relate. The rice used were no where close to the traditional biryani rice, and the dish overall can be summed up as a spiced curry paste blend with "lamb" chunks (hardly any meat on the bone). However, the menu did look interesting and quite different from the generic indian restaraunt. Hope it was just the biryani which is a weak spot!

After we read great reviews, we tried this restaurant. We ordered chicken korma and palak paneer. Chicken korma was nice, but palak paneer was one of the worst we tried in Canberra. It was very watery and lack of some flavour. Both I and my partner love palak paneer so every time we go to Indian restaurants, we order palak paneer. Both of us werenât happy. Hi Francescays, Thanks for sharing! We always appreciate honest feedback. Itâs disappointing that you didnât enjoy palak paneer. We will try our best next time. Please give us one more opportunity to serve you.

We went here because every time we walked past we enjoyed the smells coming from the place plus it was always busy. It did not disappoint. Probably the best butter chicken we have had. Even out little one enjoyed it and she is quite fussy. Most of the staff were friendly however there was one lady who seemed to be perturbed by us being there. We were not the only patrons she made feel this way. But overall, we would definitely come back.

The restaurant is definitely more than a 3 on rating scale. This was our second try from this restaurant, the first time we tried the food from deliveroo. This time we decided to eat at the restaurant. We started with the paneer tikka and samosa chat. Both were nice, the paneer tikka was better between the 2. The samosa chat was ok, not too sweet thankfully. For mains we had the Bollywood dal which was the black dal and mixed vegetables. Both the mains were good, dal really nice and creamy. The only issue was the portion size between the 4 of us we got one spoon of each main. The lacha parathas were more like home made rotiâs which was really nice for a change not too heavy. We ended the meal with fig and almond kulfi, which I must say is one of best kulfiâs I have ever had. Overall really nice meal, good ambience, good service, just need larger portion sizes and more vegetarian options.

This restaurant was one of several recommended to us, one of the very very few open on Sunday evenings in Canberra and itâs very popular so itâs advisable to book ahead. On our visit the place was packed but phoning ahead we were lucky enough to get a last minute table , were quickly seated and drinks attended to. Wine prices are reasonable and a selection is available by the glass but no local wineries are represented unfortunately. The menu is quite extensive and all our varied tastes - mild, spicy, vegetarian- were well catered to. Dishes were a good size , delicious and showed great variety. The naan bread was a delight and the best Iâve eaten. Although very busy our meals turned up promptly and the service was attentive although later in the evening we had to wait for someone to take a dessert order. Overall very impressed, highly recommended and would definitely visit again when in Canberra!

Taj Mahal is a family business serving home-style Authentic Indian cuisines. Mouth Watering Beef, Lamb, Chicken, Vegetable, Tondoori and fish dishes at a very reasonable price. Opening Lunch Wed to Friday from 12.00pm and Dinner Monday to Sat from 5.30pm
Taj Mahal almost overwhelms you with its atmosphere as you enter... busy Northbourne Avenue just outside feels like a world away as you enter. Food is excellent, with a good range of dishes all of which are tasty, and excellent sides (fantastic breads!). I've been there several times and if I ever need a pick me up - or a guaranteed excellent meal I'll head here to escape the world, relax and indulge!

Had lunch with friends. The lunch area is wheelchair accessible, with plenty of navigation space. I was in a power wheelchair and I found the tables not ideal for getting close to the table. Not sure if they had an accessible toilet. The entry door is a hinged door. The dinner area isn't accessible (its on a mezzanine). The staff and food were wonderful.

We really enjoyed our meal, the service is very good and if you like Indian food you will be very happy eating here. We had the mixed entree, Chicken vindaloo and Naan. The portions were large and there is plenty to choose from whether it be non vegetarian or vegeterian. BYO wine only, but they have a great wine and beer menu so no problem if you don't take your own wine. Pricing was very reasonable for good food.

Friends have recommended this place for literally ages and we had never found the opportunity to eat here. I decided to have my birthday dinner here and wasn't disappointed. The prices seem a wee bit high but the servings are larger than at other places -- and, thus, are good value. The quality of the food was very good. Spiciness is as it should be -- with "hot & spicy" being too strong for some...not a typical Australian Indian restaurant. The spicy chicken korma was perhaps one of the nicest dishes I have ever had. The roti parcels with pumpkin and coconut are excellent. Minnie (the owner?) is lovely and very welcoming. We had an amazing evening and I cannot wait to go back (and regret terribly not having made it here sooner!!!)
