I was expecting to add another 5* rating to the long list of positive reviews but...... The location is great and the restaurant has a wonderful rural, country feel with old farm implements adding to the ambience. The staff are friendly and the service good, and the draft beer is easy drinking and refreshing. However the big disappointment was the food. I ordered the venison and asked for it to be cooked medium. Big nods and a smile from the waiter yes, medium cooked but when it arrived it was so dry and tasteless that it could have been any meat. When I showed the waiter he simply shrugged. The fish was ok but one of our diners ordered the duck breast, this was also well overcooked. We wont be going back.
There were only a few tables busy for Sunday lunch, although Forrás would certainly deserve better. We went there for a family lunch with a party of nine. They have a nice garden with a swing for the kids (unfortunately close to the main road, so it's a bit noisy). The garden chairs are not too comfortable, but not too bad either. Service was very attentive. The selection of dishes is good, but they had a new menu, which was completely different from the one posted on their web site. The strawberry soup was excellent, the chicken broth (a huge portion) also good. The Waldorf salad with lamb coins was fresh and piquant. The main dishes (fish, chicken, beef, goose leg) were good, but nothing special. One or two of the dishes were a bit too salty. The sweets were also good, but again not extraordinary. The bill came to around USD 135 which for eight people (+ a toddler) is quite reasonable, even though we only had juice and mineral water to drink. The wine list is limited, but there are some good local wines on it (by the bottle).

The selection for everything is huge. Coffee specialities, the lemonades full of fruits, teas, and every kind of European food you desire. We visited several times, and everything was excellent and generous portions. Pizza, pasta, soup, lemonade, coffee, meat dishes, desserts ... Could not find anything to complain about.

Actually: no taverna.A very nice restaurant, with excellnt food, drinks and service - in central location, on the Southern Bank of the Balaton
This busy restaurant offers a great collection of Hungarian food in good quality. Staff is helpful, prices are reasonable. Try the cheese soup, the aubergine cream... or anything you like :O) On weekends book in advance, the restaurant is always full, at least in Summer.
Good place for breakfast or lunch. The prices are reasonable, the portions are large and the food is tasty. Their breakfast ham and eggs are from 3 eggs and the warm sandwiches are huge. The kids loved the spaghetti and pastas. They have traditional sausages and Balaton fish.

A disappointing family meal here. The goulash was adequate if not anything special but was only luke-warm. The gyros platter wasn't bad but the fries it came with were again verging on cold. However it was our daughter's pizza that was the worst part of the meal, as it had a weird soggy base, and I suspect it's maybe purchased already made and reheated as it didn't taste like it had seen the induce of an oven! There's lots of good pizza in the area for similar prices (Bistro Pub-lik across the road is a hundred times better for example) so this was a huge disappointment. It wasn't particularly busy when we went, being a Thursday evening, so cold food and soggy pizza is really unacceptable I'm afraid. Not a place we will ever be returning to when there's much better options nearby.

You can find modern dishes as well as traditional Hungarian ones. Every portion is great, nicely presented and very good.Try the cold fruit soup, it’s not sweet and creamy, very refreshing. The potatoe rosti filled with Camembert was excellent. The pasta with cottage cheese is how it’s done traditionally, with bacon and baked in the oven.

We have visited this restaurant every time we’ve been to Balatonföldvár for years. This year has been a disappointment. And this is based on multiple visits in the past few days. The food is still good. The service on the other hand is exceptionally terrible. The waiters don’t know the menu. They are quite happy standing around leaning against the wall instead of taking orders or clearing tables. Unfortunately I think it’s time to find a new favorite restaurant in Balatonföldvár.

KUKORICA CSÁRDA IN BALATONFÖLDVÁR is a traditional hospitable place for guests by the Lake Balaton with great history. It is a thatched restaurant built in the old style so it can bring back guests to 19th century circumstances. Hungarian and internationa
We went to have a nice dinner in the Corn restaurant , but unfortunately the whall dinner was a shamble . Firstly I ordered a soft drink which was absolutely warm , I complained straight away, after they braught a small ice bucket . We ordered 2 fish soups 1 trout with almond and 1 Hungarian chicken soup , the fish soups and the trout was served with out any bone plate . During the dinner nobody checked back if everything was ok ? The chicken soup was a 400 ml. “Large” soup , we only found 4 pieces of chicken incide prox 1 ( one gramm all) . After main course I hade to find a waiter to clear the table . Than we ordered dessert . The dessert was one somloi nockel , 2 chestnut purée and one ice cream . By the middle of our dessert , one of the waitress turned up to clear everything included the last glass is well . That was the time when I complainedand said that she should never remove the last glasses from the table . Than she replied that is normal , it’s maybe normal for her but not where I was in the past in the restaurant business the last glasses all ways remaining ! It’s weryunprofeccional to remove it.I ordered the bill and 1 last espresso . The female blonde headwaiter who braught me the bill was very arrogant she would not taking account any of my complain regards of the unprofessional service and lack of chicken in the soup , nevertheless the bone plate and the warm soft drink , pluss that nobody checked back the food . When I tried to tell her she was interrupted me and wouldn’t listen she replied that it’s not a big dill .Because she wouldn’t listen to me and was so arrogant , I questioned her how dare she is talking to me like that arrogantly , and I also said that I would never recommend this place to anybody .Her answer was to snatch my bill and grab it and saying in that case you don’t need to pay . First of all I didn’t go there for charity , more over as a caterer it was a shame to see all this mistakes on mistakes with out proper control . I really hade a bad experience there and I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody .They need a lots of training , I saw a bonch of waiters in the group talking to each other instead of doing there job . What’s gong on in the (Kukprica Csárda) ???? Please please please learn some manners and service , it’s essential before they approaching any table in the restaurant .
