After sleepy Yeosu was chosen to host the 2012 World Expo, it was catapulted into the tourism spotlight. Now that the South Korean city’s volcanic beaches, idyllic islands and colorful historic sites have been discovered, it’s likely that it will grow into a popular international vacation spot. Take a bus to the Hyangiram temple, walk along the breakwater to Odongdo Island, or work your way through the fascinating Fish Market.

This is not a 5 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. It is tired and desperately in need of a complete maintenance job. The location is great and it looks glitzy from the outside, and the lobby is airy and welcoming. This is where the positives end sadly. The room had filthy floors with dirt between the grout, banged up furniture, scuffs and major dings all over the walls and wooden furniture fixtures, peeling wallpaper. The hotel has tremendous potential but they completely missed the mark with the rooms and lack of maintenance.

This hotel offers tiny capsule hotel rooms where you barely fit two people and one hand carry luggage bag. They also have a few bigger rooms with a view to the harber but I think especiall at night people sitting in the lobby might look inside those rooms and therefore I would recommend to stick with the standard rooms. The hotel lobby has a glass front and great view over Yeosu harbor. The staff is super friendly and helpful. From here you can walk to Odongdo and the cable car station in less than 15 min and the Yeosu Expo KTX train station is also just a few minutes walk away.

I've stayed in a few Ramadas, and a picture is crystallising. In essence, Ramadas offer a decent room for the night, but often lack the facilities that competitors offer. The Ramada Yeosu is no different. A problem is no restaurant, which is odd for a hotel this large. We wondered down a few streets - in this quiet part of town - to find some basic eateries, but it not clear where the other guests were eating. Perhaps the hotel could print an information map showing a range of places to eat? Our room was fine and had a fantastic view. However, the balcony lacked chairs. The rooftop has a zipline down to the water, which looks terrifying but fun. The staff try to be helpful. Common to many hotels, there is a problem with the breakfast buffet. You can imagine the groan when arriving for breakfast only to be given a slip saying "90" on it. No restaurant and a long wait for breakfast is a Ramada thing I'm afraid. Breakfast was fine, but the hotel ballroom, which served as an overflow breakfast area, looked tired and had a stained carpet. With so many hungry guests it would help to have more coffee machines. And of course being a tall hotel, you spend a lot of time waiting for the elevator or crammed into the elevator. The rooftop pool was closed, drained and the bar dismantled. As for Yeosu, it is nice enough, but you get the impression that you are doing tourist things in the land not used by the petrochemical or steel plant nearby. Nearby Namhae-do and Geoje-do are more scenic.

Opened in April 2012, Located behind Yeosu City Hall, the hotel is a landmark of the Hak-dong area of Yeosu. Each room boasts a scenic view of the sea and a guest-oriented interior. We are a couple traveling to Yeosu (and Korea!) for the first time in Jan 2020. We only stayed one night. This hotel surpassed expectations in many ways. All the front desk staff (during check-in, late night, and also check-out) were warm, welcoming, and spoke perfect English. Our sea view room was worth every penny. It is large with a huge deck overlooking the calm harbour. Nearby are walking trails and small hills with pavilions perfect for morning coffee or afternoon beer. The room is huge with all the amenities. There is even a hair iron! And a personal laptop for your use!! Breakfast was included in the rate but I slept in and missed it. There is a small coffee shop with a cute semi-wild kitten downstairs. We took a public bus to the Expo/Angel Mural village area. It took one hour and was a pain. I wish we had taken a taxi bc we would have had more time to spend in that part of the Yeosu region. If u only have a day here, it pays to take a taxi!! Highly recommended and would stay here again for sure.

BACKPACKERS IN YEOSU is a tourist hostel and guest house with rooms and facilities that are fully prepared for me and the party not "no-tell motel". We will do our best to make you feel the charm of BACKPACKERS IN Yeosu which is different from motels and hotels. There are rooms with private bathroom of various types such as single room, twin room, double room, triple room, family room, and dormitory room. There is a common kitchen, laundry room, computer room, Pub, Cafe. It is a good place to meet people so we are welcome to come alone and with a friend and your family are also good. From the hostel, Yeosu Expo Station, Odongdo, Jinnamgwan, Lee Soon Shin Square, and nangmhan-pocha are all within 15 minutes by walk.

It’s a very nice hotel. We booked the twin room that has a single and queen beds. It’s is spacious with lots of storage. Nice fridge (empty) and hot plate if you plan to cook. Although it’s next to the bridge, it’s not noisy in the room (double glaze). Booked it at good rate. It’s not near the food streets but we drive so it a good location for us.

Utop Marina Hotel & Resort
First, I am unsure why there is a fee to access the pool. This is a facility of the hotel and you have to pay an additional 20k won a person to access the pool and 30k to access it in the evenings. This is bizarre to me and soured our taste at the property once we realized this. Besides the additional cost to a 100k won/night room, the facility and room were nice. The bathrooms are all white, per the pictures, and every room generally has an incredible view of the marina. There are adequate shops under and around the hotel with a CU/Tom&Toms/Coffee shop/restaurants on sight and within the locality. There is also plenty of space to walk around the marina due to the Expo facilities. However, the hotel had a few room issues. With the white bathroom, dirt was easier to spot and there was a tough of mold in the showers. The aircon was my biggest complaint as it rattled all night making noise. It was not consistent noise but rather the compressor rattling and humming which kept me awake for a but. Also there is a big green light on the aircon which literally light the room up once all the lights/shades were shut. Check in and employees were nice and spoke great English. However, Yeosu is somewhat of a ghost town now post Expo. It was a fun trip but look elsewhere for a better time (Namhae).

CYC ( 21.12.05 ) My family stayed 1 day in our Yeosu tirp. This hotel was located at end of land, so the sea view was beautiful. Especially, the wide window was excellent to enjoy seaview and sunrise view at morning. The location, comfortability and the service was all good to us. Avoiding peak season, the price was very good. All was excellent to us.

We stayed in the Hotel at the Ocean Resort on 9 Nov (Sat) in room 1003. We had a choked toilet bowl at 9.50pm, called the front desk to get help from housekeeping. Without the ability to communicate properly in English to the Korean speaking staff, we hoped for the best... At 10pm, A young gentleman from housekeeping came and took a look at the situation. He told us in Korean and hand signals to give him 10 mins. He came back exactly 10 mins later with a toilet bowl hand pump, pumped it three times and cleared the choke. He flushed it twice to check that it’s all working well, and asked if there is anything else that we needed his help. We said thank you to him and he gave us a 90 degree bow before he left. This short but swift response from housekeeping to resolve the problem at hand promptly is an excellent demonstration of the positive service standard that we experienced. A pity that we did not manage to take down the name of this staff, but would like to give compliments to him and congratulate the management of the hotel for having such a wonderful employee who took his work seriously and did it well. Thanks for the positive experience in staying in the hotel at The Ocean Resort!
