Average run of the mill accommodation. Suited for large wedding party guest accommodation but not a special personalised occasion. I requested a view but got the employee carpark & water tanks. The spa rooms are large & the spa nice but overall tired room. The day spa was still under construction. The best part of the stay was the food! Restaurant still lacks atmosphere (feels like a foyer) but taste was sensational.

Located in the heart of Melbourne's food and wine playground - the Yarra Valley - within an hour's drive of Melbourne is Yering Gorge Cottages. Overlooking The Eastern Golf Club and nestled into the hillside, alongside the Yarra River, and with stunning views of the surrounding Christmas Hills and Great Dividing Range, guests can relax on their wide balcony watching the kangaroos grazing, whilst enjoying a glass of local Yarra Valley wine. Featuring 13 self-contained, luxuriously appointed, one, two and four-bedroom cottages, guests can also enjoy a suite of outdoor experiences and recreational activities to complement their stay including golf, tennis, bush walking, mountain biking - all undertaken within the Club’s 120 acre Nature Reserve, home to Eastern Grey Kangaroos, Platypus, Echidna, Wombats and native bird life, providing guests with the rare opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Australia’s most iconic wildlife.
My husband and I decided to book a little getaway before the birth of our first child. We couldn't have picked a better place. This is one of the most relaxing and value for money places you'll experience. Your own detached cottage set in peaceful bushland, overlooking the Eastern Golf Course. The moment you get there you'll want to be out enjoying your balcony, with kangaroos mere metres away to greet you morning and evening. The fireplace is a real perk and we enjoyed the most delicious BBQ hamper breakfast, delivered to our door and cooked on our balcony in the morning. Every room is spacious and immaculate and we awoke to the most beautiful sunrise. Cant wait to stay there again.

Well founded residence certainly is a cut above a Motel. Were upgraded to a chalet which was a house of high quality with everything you could want tea, coffee & milk. Loved the locally made chocolates in the fridge! Very comfortable beds & spotlessly clean. Good WiFi, BBQ on the balcony

Attending a wedding at Balgownie Estate, accommodation at the Estate fully booked, we had to seek an alternative. My fiancé found Leafield Cottages, just 6kms down the road. And what a hidden gem!. If you see the Dixons Creek Cafe, hang a left just past and on the left is Leafield Cottages. A number of small individual cottages to book, in a very scenic bush setting. We had Sage Cottage, and it certainly lived up to its name. Shades of green on the exterior and interior, the cottage is self contained with kitchen, lounge/bedroom and en-suite. Breakfast is included, which comprise of bread, eggs, pastries, fruit and condiments. For those of you with a larger car, the driveway into and to the cottages is a little narrow, but not too hard to navigate. Birdsong to wake you in the morning, gorgeous surrounds, and if you are feeling a little cold, a wood fired heater to make your stay just a little more intimate. Whether you are looking for somewhere to stay for an event in the area, or you are looking for somewhere out of the way with heaps of charm for a weekend, have a look at Leafield Cottages!!

Avoid this place if you can. Rooms were unkept and dirty. Room facilities were less than adequate. It is a budget motel in every respect. Cheap price = cheap service. Difficult to sleep with noise from other guests. We will chose elsewhere when we next visit Lilydale.
