Since 1907, Captain Whidbey has been a locus of natural beauty, community gathering and quiet, exalted delight. A place where locals and visitors do things together — even if those things are simply eating, drinking, appreciating nature, looking out across the water, feeling alive, feeling grateful. Captain Whidbey is the Unofficial Official Lodge of Ebey’s Landing National Historic Reserve. The gateway to beautiful and rugged wild, Captain Whidbey fosters a sense of romance, a longing for adventure and a communion with the natural world. ROOMS Reverent of the island's many past lives, the rooms at Captain Whidbey champion the stories behind things, with novel interplays of old and new and through natural harmony with the surrounding culture, the landscape and the sea. Every area on the property is different, with historic details and custom furnishings maintained throughout. Whether in the Historic Lodge, the idiosyncratic Cabins or the Lagoon Rooms, you’ll find intimate accommodations that are not just a respite, but an infinite opportunity for new and evocative human experience and meaningful communion. RESTAURANT + BAR Our “living room style” restaurant and dining room reflect Captain Whidbey’s warm and casual approach to hospitality. As our central multi-use space, the custom and eclectic tables and banquettes at the restaurant at Captain Whidbey are as suitable for an exquisite house-made meal as they are for sketching, writing, watercoloring or sparkling conversation. The restaurant menu veers towards the rustic and hearty, with inventive shellfish dishes, breakfast boards, local produce from our garden, house-smoked meats, house-cured pickles and salmon, homemade bread, jam and other delicacies. On the North Side of the restaurant, you’ll find our bustling back deck. With sweeping, sunlit views of Penn Cove and beyond, the waterfront deck is an iconic Whidbey Island destination. Enjoy mussels from Penn Cove or a cocktail from the bar and stay awhile — the deck is open late.
A great weekend getaway spot for solo travelers! I have always loved the "cabin by the water" vacation experience and this place delivers! I stayed for two nights in the Nomad Cabin and enjoyed all the little details and especially the design! I will definitely be back here again.

hotel was well kept for the age and staff was nice. When I travel for work I like to keep with my fitness routine and was disappointed by the size and equipment in the gym for the size of the hotel. The pictures online made the entry and gym look much bigger. While the entry was nice it was nothing like the pictures so wasn’t sure if I was at the right location.

We were not impressed with a number of things: -reception upon arrival was really below par, worst we have seen in years - there is renovation going on and plenty of activity around the premises and actually our room and we were not informed about this - worst: a previous client had left her razor with hair in the shower and clearly neglected by the cleaners. When we handed this in at the reception there was zero reaction or apology - the stay was seriously overpriced at $308 when considering the season, weekday and all the above

We chose the captain's room. Roomy and comfortable bed. This room came with a jetted tub in the bathroom, the main reason we picked it. But when attempting to use it, black crud kept fill up with the water. After 3 cleaning flushes it still returned.

I booked this hotel for a weekend vacation (through Expedia) and had to cancel it due to bad weather. I have cancelled it before the due time still the hotel charged full amount on my card. Ideally I shouldn't have been charged at all as it would be paid for in person upon arrival. Thankfully I spotted this charge on my card and have to spend time with Expedia and have this charge reverted. I see similar feedback from other folks too so adding my review for others to be aware and be careful if they have to cancel their booking.

Unique "Old World" charm on beautiful Whidbey Island. Our rooms are cozy and quaint. They feature wonderful antique furniture, that give every room a personalized feel. Stop by for a visit and meet our superb staff!
Upon arrival the we had trouble checking in. Their system could not accept our Visa but had no trouble accessing our chequing account. The room was severely lacking. High bleach smell through out the room. Stained sheets. Filthy carpet. A toilet that never flushed. We asked for someone to fix it and were given a plunger to fix it ourselves. The bed was too soft and if you sat too close to the edge you fell off. Wallpaper peeling off. We were there for 2 days. The wifi access was cut off after 1 day. Breakfast was laughable. Saran wrapped bagels, zip lock bags of cereal, No peanut butter, or jam to be found. No bowls for the cereal or oatmeal, just small plastic cups.

We traveled last minute with our two kids and two dogs. Jesus was so wonderful and accommodating. We called and spoke with him prior to our arrival and he couldn’t have been more kind and helpful. The room smelled very clean (it looked clean but the smell was very pleasant). Popcorn was provided for a snack, the kitchenette was well supplied, and the room in general was very comfortable. While the room was perfectly comfortable, I have to compliment Jesus again. We travel a lot and his level of hospitality was much appreciated. Thank you for making us feel genuinely welcome.

My friend and I arrived in the afternoon. Check in was a breeze. Nice room, comfy beds and lots of room. Nice lady checked us in. A few people hanging around outside but there wasn't a problem with them. Next morning I was out smoking when a fellow came to me wanting $10.00 for gas with a tale of loosing everything and was willing to give me a watch and a necklace, but I declined. No big deal. Breakfast was not very much, coffee and some muffins. Price was just a shade under $100.
