When most people think of Norway, the Western Fjords area is what they picture, with its stunningly beautiful deep waterways carved through rugged mountains by ice age glaciers. Several of the world’s tallest waterfalls are here too, adding to the splendor. An incredible region for cruising, hiking, fishing, biking, rafting, canoeing and summer skiing, the region is also home to fascinating cities like Bergen, Stavanger and Alesund, each chock-full of unique and interesting urban activities.

Only half an hour's drive from Stavanger; and from Stavanger's Sola Airport about 20 minutes.
We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Staff was very friendly, we got a nice room (although we were unable to regulate the temperature - luckily we could open the window), and the dinner and breakfast were fantastic! Can really recommend eating at the hotel, good value for money with local products.

Breakfast buffet was fantastic! Room was clean and spacious. I’m not that infirm but I appreciated the retractable grip supports in the bathroom. Staff was friendly and helpful. A trainee at the front desk was discreetly monitored. All around excellent service and facility.

As relatives of Edvard Grieg, our desire is to create a one of a kind experience – a classic, yet modern take on the hotel experience that offers our guests a taste of the composer’s remarkable life, his relationships and his unique life story. Our ambition is to attract visitors, both travelers and locals, into a haven of music, entertainment and diverse cultural experiences – to showcase what Bergen truly has to offer. The main floor is an open grand room with heavy granite walls and ionic columns in polished marble. The building with its many decorative details was designed by architect Herman Schirmer and later extended twice. Architect Schak Bull, who also drew Edvard Grieg’s residence “Troldhaugen”, was responsible for the last extension in 1918. Schak Bull was also Edvard Grieg’s cousin We promise wonderful beds, a great location and warm and welcoming service!
Check in was very efficient even though a large wedding party was also arriving. The rooms are very clean and the bathrooms looked newly renovated. The beds were very comfy although I prefer a firmer mattress. The hotel is one block from the light rail, which is the absolutely best way to get around the city. Evidently the taxi are very unreliable even if you schedule ahead. Breakfast is served a la cart in the lobby restaurant. Definitely a great hotel and worthy of the fine hotels designation.

Stayed at the hotel last week and the experience was very enjoyable. Suzanne, Christine and Amelia were all great at their job. They helped me with directions, information and did their best to help me with an issue I had with a mail being delivered. They are a valuable asset to the hotel The hotel is conveniently located and the rooms-elevator/lift and restaurant were very nice. The breakfast was very good. However I wish the website would mention the airport bus. It asks us to take the tram-streetcar but I wonder if the bus is a better option. We also went up to the tower at the top and had a nice view of the harbor and city. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Comfortable and sparkling clean spacious room. Top line Grohe shower for perfect temperature control. Fluffy large bath towels. Located by a pretty lake with fountain. Convenient two blocks from bus and train station. Short walk to the harbor, restaurants, bars and old town. Excellent very complete breakfast. Extra kudos for providing a water pitcher to help reduce wasteful plastic. We had a great stay!

Stay at Scandic Ornen, centrally located in Bergen, close to the city's cultural centre, the Grieg Hall and Bergen Art Museum. Spacious and modern rooms, including accessible rooms. Try our fantastic restaurant Roast and Bergen's only skybar, located on the 13th floor with a fantastic view of the city and surrounding mountains.
The curtain in the room doesn't cover the windows leaving a big gap. The shower door can't be closed or easily open. The corridor in the lobby and the elevator area is very crowded. The breakfast is very crowded. The bed is super soft and uncomfortable.

We got our room at 1:30 pm. This was nice as it supposed to be ready at 3 pm. Breakfast is extremely good: hot meals, fruits, sweets etc. Smoked salmon was amazing. Room was clean, bathroom was big. Things which I didn't like: At 0:30am we were waken up by the fire alarm. Everybody in the hotel were surprised. We didn't know what have happened. We had to left our room and went to reception. There were a lot of people on the stairs. In the end alarm was false so we needed to back to our room. It was uncomfortable and not nice at all. We know that it is not the staff fault but anyway we would like to have calm weekend.
