Hotel Mercato Wajima is a business hotel 3 minutes' walk from Wajima Ekimae bus stop. Wi-fi is available in guest rooms. All rooms are non smoking. There is a smoking place on the first floor. The hotel has 25 free parking spaces. Rooms have a single room with bath and toilet, twin room with bath and toilet. Other rooms have Japanese-style rooms (with toilet and no bath). The hotel has a public bath and a sauna. From JR Kanazawa Station it is approximately 120 minutes by Okunoto Express Bus. It is approximately 20 minutes by taxi from Noto Airport.
It was not easy to book a full facility hotel around Wajima areas. Most were hostel without private toilet. But Mercato is a full facility hotel. Room rate is reasonable and room size is considered as bigger than normal in Japan with same price range. Yes, the furniture was a bit aging. The staff provided very good services.

Our cycle tour came here for the night. The decor of the foyer is stunning. Meal was very good, and seated at western tables and chairs. Shared bathrooms and toilets. Futons on floor, but excellent doonas/duvets. Staff/family all very friendly.

A Ryokan, no less, promising an Honsen and high standard. Well, no. The room we've booked (for more than $300..) was almost naked, except a small sink and a table. WC could be found by the end of the corridor, a shared one... Bathroom was the next question? Yes, there is one; actually two: one for men, one for women; shared, what else.. Not on the same floor mind you, on the 1st one . The Honsen? We haven't seen it, it was taken thus we'd have to wait. How long? God knows, since they don't speak English. Ah, the room faces the kitchen, no actual door, just that sliding thing.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the meals were just fantastic with fresh seafood, the onsen was relaxing with a super outdoor tub facing the sea and wew were treated to an entertaining and energetic masked drum performance in the basement theatre. Well located just east of the town centre with a handy bus shuttle to the morning market. Very happy with our stay.

The hotel is located on a hill overlooking the Sea of Japan and the harbor of Wajima. There is a spa at the hotel. You can see the harbor of Wajima or the Sea of Japan from the room.Close to Sodegahama beach. Therefore, you can enjoy swimming in the summer.
Wajima Onsen Yashio. Beautifully located overlooking the sea, this hotel excels in fresh seafood, japanese-style. The interior could so with a painter and some new carpets but the wabi-sabi look is balanced by very good service and accommodating staff.

I stayed a day for trip in Noto Peninsula. This hotel is 30 minutes far from Wajima city. The location is not convenient. But this hotel has wonderful sunset view due to it locates at west side of Noto. When you check-in to this hotel, you get key of cottage. The cottages are built in woods and Japanese garden, and connected by wooden pass. The room interior is little strange, but I like it. There are two big public bath. One is opened for visitor. Another is only for guest. Please note the cheapest rooms don't have shower or personal bath in room. The foods were delicious. I ate fresh fish and Japanese beef. There are small winery and french restaurant in 5 minutes from hotel. You can select to eat dinner at there. My stay was almost perfect. But unfortunately, I met two stink bug in room. I don't recommend to stay around Noto in end of Autumn.

Hard to compare as this is the first Ryokan that we have stayed. But, here is our experience so far. The greeting is over the top as everyone is in the driveway yearning to do something for you. I really believe they would carry you in if you allowed it. The rooms I have seen including ours #305 faces the ocean and roadway. Strong powerful waves. There is a garden directly across the road and there was a woman working out there until dark. Our dinner last night included Shusi, Sashimi, BBQ. You are spoiled for choice. The Onsen was lovely also our first and just getting the lay of the land. You don’t want this style if you have trouble with stairs or getting up from the floor. Very low ceilings. Extremely clean. Worth a try for sure these Ryokan’s

Once we arrived we were told that a 10pm curfew applied, and that the bathroom was only available between 6pm and 10pm! ALL toilets are Japanese style; no cooking/kitchen facilities available to guests, although the staff allowed us to store some milk in their fridge; the information about check-out time and bathroom usage written on the information booklet in the room was different from what the staff told us; other guests received information that we didn't (towels could be rented; a pamphlet about local restaurants - although apparently it was the last copy and the gentleman had to return it [why not make more copies? Why didn't we get one seeing as we arrived earlier?]). Oh, and 'interesting' music was playing from the reception area downstairs at 7:30 in the morning which prevented me from going back to sleep. Wajima is a beautiful little fisherman's town, but be aware that the town goes to bed around 9pm. Last service at most restaurants is 7:30 and supermarkets close at 8 or 9. Wajima is a nice place to come and see, but not a place to stay the night, and especially for western tourists this is not the hotel to stay. Even my Japanese partner was uncomfortable with the toilet situation. To think I paid 12,580 yen, even after a 70% discount, is shocking. Not worth the money, considering the toilet/bathroom situation and lack of transparency online about the 'house rules' (curfew!? what are we, kids?! Give us a key!), and with restaurants closing so early we couldn't even buy food and cook dinner because there's no guest kitchen. Don't stay here. Please!
