I booked the hotel via Marriott and the cancelling policy is 24 hours in advance. Later the hotel has modified my reservation to a 21-day in advance cancellation policy without my permission. The hotel had asked a direct wire to the hotel's account instead of authorization despite a valid card is stored in my Marriott account, and threatens me had I not wired the money, which is non-refundable 21 days in advance, they will cancel my reservation on their own. I received a call from the hotel and the manager shouted at me that He does not need to explain why the hotel's policy is against group's policy and I do not need to know. A complaint has been sent to Marriot and waiting for their judgement. And this is the hotel you are going to stay in. I would strongly recommend your second thoughts.

Conveniently located within walking distance to Potala Palace and Norbulingka Palace. Shangri-La Hotel, Lhasa has 289 contemporary guestrooms and 10 long stay apartments. Some of which offer views of the Potala Palace, start from 43 square meters and are equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access.
Such a fabulous hotel. We stayed in a Potala View Suite with adjoining twin room…definitely worth the extra cost. Although the lounge was closed we were offered daily afternoon tea and evening full buffet in the main restaurant. The service was spot on and the hotel really is quite exceptional. Definitely recommended!

I went with my small group to Tibet recently and and found this is the best place to stay in Tibet. Staffs are very nice and friendly. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel water is very good and have good heating system. The atmosphere is also beautiful and if you want to try Tibetan styled hotel, this is the best place to stay. The food in this restaurant is very delicious and they also serve nice Nepali Thali. I had the same Thali taste as in Nepal so if you went to Tibet from Nepal, you might miss Thali again and take Thali set. I highly recommend this boutique hotel.

We stayed at Intercontinental Lhasa Paradise for one night on 2 October. Initially we had pretty high expectation as this is an international hotel brand and we stayed there once, but it proved us wrong. We checked in at the reception at around 2:50pm and the receptionist offered us to just leave our luggages at the place where they were (which was right in front of the reception table and where guests would line up there for check-in and check-out) and said he would request a bell-boy to send our luggages (3 in total) to our room. We then left our luggages, and looked at the receptionist and asked if he was really sure that we could just leave our luggages there. He reassured us, so we headed to our room for freshening up. When we got to the hotel room, we found that there were no slippers. We called concierge for two pairs of slippers. Concierge replied saying that it was impossible for the slippers to be missing and said they would send housekeeping to send us two pairs of slippers regardless and asked the housekeeper to point to us where the slippers were supposed to be located. The concierge sounded as if we made a mistake. When the housekeeper came in, she knew that there were no slippers initially placed in the room so she did not say anything and helped us with the humidifier instead. After we got refreshed, we realised it was already 20 minutes since check-in and our luggages hadn't yet arrived. We called concierge again and they said they would check with the reception. Another 10 minutes passed, there was no news so we called concierge again and they asked which luggages were we talking about. We started feel worried that they might have sent our luggages to the wrong room given we had our clothes, two laptops and an iPad as well as necessary medication in those luggages. At that moment, our instinct told us that something went wrong so I decided to head down to the reception while my husband stayed in the room to see whether the luggages would arrive when I got down. When I got to the reception hall, I realised that the three luggages were still at the same spot where the receptionist asked us to leave. So basically that means for the last 30/40 minutes, no hotel staff bothered taking care of our luggages. I questioned the same receptionist who helped us with the check-in and he simply pushed the responsibility to the bell-boy team. Finally, a bell-boy arrived and accompanied me to send the three luggages back to our room. On the way, I asked the bell boy if someone ever requested his team to help us with the luggages. And he helplessly shocked his head and said he was just being requested by the concierge to go to the reception area and help send the luggages. When I got back to the room, I immediately called the concierge again and complained. The manager called back and offered to provide us with fruit platter and free happy hour. Honestly, all we wanted were not "freebies". For the fruit platter, they gave us one the last time we stayed there as I am an IHG member, so we were more curious why there wasn't one in the first place. As for the free drinks, we don't drink anyways. The core issue is that they had wasted our 40 minutes of waiting and we were so late for our next appointment and almost couldn't make it. Another bad incident was that the moment when we woke up and left the bed, we saw something walking on the bed. When we looked closer it was an insect which looked like a cockroach or something. Our first instinct was to get rid of it so as to prevent it from flying to our opened luggages. So we wrapped it into a piece of paper and flushed it. Then we immediately packed our luggages and left the room as we were in a rush to one of the temples. When we went back to the reception area for check-out, we mentioned the insect incident to the receptionist (another male receptionist), showed him the photo and a video of it on the bed. The receptionist just responded by saying "Oh...we can send someone to have a look. Please wait." I then said we clearly mentioned that we already got rid of it and flushed it to the toilet and whether there was a point of waiting. He then said "Oh...since you have returned your key cards, you have been checked out and you are free to go." So there was not even a single apology. Ironically for a short moment, I did think that perhaps he would escalate that to the housekeeping or management and someone would call me to apologies. Apparently I was wrong. It is unbelievable that an international hotel brand would provide such kind of service to its guests. We are highly skeptical about the training the staff were given. Originally we planned to stay for extra two nights at this hotel but with such a huge disappointment, we decided to continue to stick with our original accommodation plan. If we would ever go to Lhasa again, this hotel would not be our choice ever again. We would also seriously consider if we should ever stay at hotels under this brand.

Very lovely hotel with Tibetan style. Though it’s not located in the center, the hotel arranges shutter several times per day. The staffs are helpful, carrying the luggages, booking tickets, useful travel tips. Both breakfast and dinner should not be missed! The potala palace is just in front of you. Strongly recommended!

Welcome to stay in Tashitakge Hotel which is based in the ancient Lhasa downtown center, with a stone throw away to Jokhang Temple. It helps you explore the Lhasa city easier with most activities in a walking distance. We are a small but comfortable hotel. Enjoy your stay with us!
My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights before heading to Everest. The location is perfect for exploring the Barkhor and old Lhasa. The Jokhang temple is also very close. Portola palace is a bit of a hike, but is also walkable. The hotel does a wonderful job of offering modern amenities while looking like a traditional Tibetan hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The lady at the front desk spoke nearly perfect English. There is no lift, but the hotel staff carried our bags to our room. We were very satisfied with the size of our room, but we understand some rooms are smaller. The price was quite low given the quality of the hotel. The morning breakfast was just adequate some days and others was quite good. We were extremely happy with our stay. A few tips..google maps won't work in Lhasa so download maps.me. The reviews of restaurants on Tripadvisor are very helpful, but as often as not the locations are wrong and way off. Finally, be sure to run your room's humidifier all night. Your dry, chapped lips will be gone, at least for a while.

I came here for check in on Dec. 10 and was informed they don’t have the license to accommodate foreigners. I am surprised to read an earlier review which seems a foreigner had stayed in this hotel prior my visit. It would be really helpful if the hotel has sent a notification prior arrival date so I would not have come for check in and would have booked somewhere else. As I was not accommodated, the staff offered to help me look for available room in other hotels. They were apologetic and someone even sent me an SMS to apologize. However, the hassle was already there. I did at last minute booking at Shangri-La Hotel which turned out be an excellent stay. A staff accompanied me to show me the way tomget a taxi. A notice prior arrival would be appreciated. Don’t book at this hotel if you are not a Chinese citizen.

A clean, QUIET, smoke-free business-hotel-like hotel in beautiful Lhasa that cost Y500 during the peak Chinese October tourist season. Hassle-free booking online. Free wifi and free local calls.... particularly handy for us to organise local tours without a Chinese cell phone. Easy to hail a taxi outside the hotel. A short taxi-ride to anywhere in town cost Y10 and Y200 to the airport. Don't forget to checkout the somewhat distant view of the Potala Palace from the 4th floor podium. We are particularly impressed by the excellent service of Miss Pang.

Our lodge is located on the east bank of the Lancang River beside Zhuka Bridge. To the north sits Zhuka Village and to the south is vast farmland. The lodge faces the Lancang River providing each room with fantastic views of the surrounding landscape.
Great location. Every balcony of the hotel room is face to Lancang River, really enjoy the view! The food of the hotel restaurant is worth to try. And there is a yak farm which is not far away from the hotel, you should not miss this! The hotel feels like a hideway from the real life.Highly recommend!

The hotel was in a fantastic location to explore the Jokhung Temple and surround lanes and the Potala Palace. The entrance was small and underwhelming but the courtyard and hotel rooms were good. The room was well equipped and clean and fairly modern. The shower worked well and bathroom was clean. The breakfast was simple but good, perhaps not enough tables. I would recommend staying at the hotel for the excellent location.
