We went on a night boat trip to look for alligators which is the main activity here. I expected them to point out alligators in the water and give some information. However, the guide proceeded to rip an alligator from the water onto the boat and allow tourists to shine several bright lights in it’s face and touch it. The poor thing was clearly frozen and terrified and this carried on for 15+ minutes despite pleas to put him back. I have done a similar activity in Borneo and they respected the wildlife and did not even consider taking it from the water. When I told the guide afterwards how upsetting this was, he apologized that he does usually ask people if they want him to do this or not but he forgot to. He did not seem to see anything wrong with taking an animal from its natural habitat and terrifying it purely for tourist entertainment. They clearly care more about profit than respecting the wildlife.

The Tambopata Research Center (TRC) is a comfortable 24 bedroom lodge. Because of its remote location in the uninhabited wilderness, housing stable populations of endangered wildlife, the small scale of its infrastructure and operations and the presence of researchers and naturalist guides, Tambopata Research Center is an excellent headquarters for in-depth explorations of Amazonian nature and wildlife giving you the opportunity of unique wildlife encounters such as 35% chances to see a jaguar, 67% chances to see a troop of spider monkeys and its paradise of scarlet macaws. It is the only one located in a half-hectare clearing in the middle of the uninhabited portion of the Tambopata National Reserve, less than a kilometer from the two world's largest and most diverse macaw clay lick. The Tambopata Research Center is now only 4.5 hours away from Puerto Maldonado taking 1 hour by bus plus 3.5 hours by boat. The experience includes all land and river transportation from /to Puerto Maldonado airport, a set of activities and excursions that you can choose from, all meals and accommodation.
My son, my brother, and I visited TRC in May. We all agreed it was one of the highlights of our trip to Peru. We had an amazing room with an outdoor seating area and an outdoor shower and bathtub. The days can get a little warm, but the nights are cool and we slept well under the mosquito nets. The included food was great and we looked forward to our meals. The bar was a nice spot to sit and wind down after a day of touring/hiking. Jair, our guide, was amazing. He knows the rainforest well and spotted so many animals. He took many pictures for us. it was great getting to know him and the other guests in our group. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this lodge and company.

Posada Amazonas is a 30 bedroom lodge owned by the Native Community of Infierno and managed by Rainforest Expeditions. Thanks to its accessibility, the lodge offers excellent wildlife observation opportunities, cultural context, and comfortable accommodations. It is located within the territory of the Infierno Community, built within the 10,000 hectares, private, communal reserve, which in turn is directly adjacent to the Tambopata National Reserve. At Posada Amazonas, you are able to get amazing wildlife encounters
What an experience!!! Mariella was excellent to work with for our reservations, she was so very patient and answered my million questions. Oscar, our guide, was very knowledgeable. He tried to accommodate as many activities as possible in our short time at the lodge. All the staff from the manager, to Brian (bar tender), cook, everyone tried their best to give guests a comfortable and memorable stay. The logistics - reservation, travel between airport and hotel, planned activities was very efficient. The resort itself is gorgeous, it was hard to believe the availability of that kind of accommodation and excellent food and service at such a remote location. I would definitely recommend.

A visit "Tres Chimbadas Lodge" means a trip to as magical place where the beauty of the Peruvian amazon and diversity tropical nature, make us live an extraordinary experience.
Visited the lake lodge with my girlfriend for four nights in April 2022. We basically had the whole lodge and lake for ourselves and the staff and we had a great introduction to the Amazon. Safe to say that the animals returned after the pandemic. We saw giant otters, tarantulas, caimans, four types of monkeys, families of capibaras, tukans and macaws, a big snake and lots of birds. Food is freshly prepared and plenty. Think of fried eggs, bread, coffee and freshly squeezed juice for breakfast, a plate of rice with chicken and a beetroot salad for lunch with a piece of cake as a finisher and another plate of fries, plantains and beef stew for dinner. If you catched some piranhas on the lake, the team is happy to fry them for dinner! The rooms have all you need with a cold shower, a flushing toilet and mosquito nets over the bed. Electricity and light is only available when the generator is on. Activities we did were a visit to a small cacao farm, a night walk to the observatory tower with sunrise views over the canopy at 40 meters, piranha fishing on the lake, clay lick visit in the morning to see parrots, canoe trips on the lake to see monkeys and otters. If you are looking for a relaxed stay a bit remote near Puerto Maldonado: this is it.

We are Green Diamond Amazon Lodge, a Peruvian company dedicated to eco-tourism and nature care. We are located on the left bank of the Madre de Dios River, in the district "Las Piedras", city Puerto Maldonado, Madre de Dios department. We seek to provide you a complete experience in what refers to experiential tourism and so we have beautiful bungalows in the middle of the jungle and also offer entertaining tours to discover the flora and fauna. Know Your World, your forest, your nature! You will not regret it!
I spent 3 nights and four days full of adventures and relaxing time at Green Diamond. The cabins were separated from each other giving us privacy and tranquility away from other guests. The rooms were cleaned everyday which included your own private bathroom. Our guides were knowledgeable and patient with our demands to see caimans and otters which we were able to spot during our visit. Based on the price and amenities available I highly recommend this lodge if you plan to visit Tambopata.

El Refugio K’erenda Homet is located 10 minutes away from Puerto Maldonado by road. This is one of the best places for Jungle Walks close to Puerto Maldonado.
We were so pleased to stay at the Refugio K’erenda Homet, a relaxing, warm, family-run property just outside Puerto Maldonado. We loved the candle-lit evenings in our second-floor cabin, listening to the waves of the river. And the stars at night are wonderful — it’s been a while since I saw the Milky Way! The room itself is a bit rustic but super charming. Perhaps most importantly: we slept sooooo well. The breakfast was delicious each morning (usually fresh fruit salad, fried eggs, nice soft bread, and tea). We didn’t arrange for any other meals on-site and instead went into town each day. Rosa’s restaurant recommendations were Burgos and Wasaí, both of which were absolutely fantastic and about a 15-minute taxi ride away. Rosa also arranged for us to take a river/jungle tour, which we loved — see photo of the sunset we saw as we hiked back from the jungle toward the boat. And Victor gave a very informative tour of the Refugio landscape, introducing us to many of the plants and to his vision in reforesting all these acres as he has. We were glad to get to know more about the mission and to help support it! This has been our favorite part of our Peru trip!

The EcoAmazonia Lodge is located in the middle of this 10,000 hectares ecological reserve known as The Tambopata; only 30km from Puerto Maldonado on the Madre de Dios River. EcoAmazonia Lodge invites you to come aboard a spectacular trip that will transform your senses.
We stayed at Ecoamazonia Lodge for 3 days and had an amazing experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the Amazon, and the staff were very helpful. The lodge itself had great facilities and the rooms were very comfortable. Additionally, the food was incredible! Highly recommend visiting if you have time while traveling to Peru.

WASAI Tambopata Lodge is located in the heart of the amazon, approximately 50 Km. Away from Puerto Maldonado in a straight line, and approximately 120 Km. Up the river, in the heart of the Tambopata Candamo National Reserve, surrounded by National parks There are 20km of protected forest trails around the lodge, which enhances possibilities to see amazon wildlife. We can visit the local community of Baltimore and share the way of life and the natural beauty such as . The El Gato Waterfalls, and parrots and mammals clay licks . Fishing is also possible. Up-river from the lodge there are no more dwellings. The lack of people and the closeness to the Andes create an habitat with abundance of flora and fauna not seen in other areas of the amazon rainforest.
This lodge is in the heart of the jungle away from all the hustle bustle, no cellphone reception or constant internet access, just the serenity of the jungle and the sounds of nature. We had an amazing time. All the staff are lovely. The food was delicious. Our guide Juan Carlos is amazing. Has great knowledge about the flora and fauna and very good communication. He also took amazing pictures of the macaws. Our boat operator Marcos was very kind and took us around safely. Definitely recommend the stay here.

INOTAWA started its operations of eco- tourism in the Tambopata national reserve (RTAMB) in 1998 by visiting the sites that can be found at the margins of the Tambopata River. These are Tres Chimbadas Lake, the La Torre Lakes, Cocococha lake, La Torre parrot clay lick, Chuncho and Colorado clay licks and El Gato creek. In order to offer comfort to our guests during their visits we constructed inotawa lodge situated in the sector La Torre in the buffer zone of the Tambopata national reserve and surrounded by an area of private conservation (ACP) with pristine forest and natural bamboo patches that host a large variety of birds, mammals, insects and reptiles.Inotawa lodge is constructed with traditional materials of the Amazon. Palm leaf thatching, timber and bamboo maintain an architecture that blends in perfectly with the surrounding nature and the gardens full of medicinal and ornamental plants. The infrastructure consists of 16 rooms with private bathroom, a dining area, a bar, a hammock area, a web of trails, kayaks and bicycles. In short, everything necessary to offer safe, high quality service to our tourists with social and environmental responsibility.INOTAWA is a family business run by naturalists that also develop projects with the inhabitants of the "La Torre" sector. We think this to be the best manner to give a sustainable use to the area.
