Reviewed By JAnon99We stayed here for one night on the way further east and wish that we could have stayed longer. The room was very comfortable, the breakfast was very good and the Thai evening meal was brilliant! Probably the best Thai food that we have ever had. No problem parking, and Langscheid is a very peaceful and safe place in which to leave your car and go for a wander. The Sorpesee is lovely and there appears to be lots of walking in the area - which sadly we didn't have time to explore. We would definitely stay here again. We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff are lovely and very welcoming. Highly recommended as a very nice hotel in a lovely place.

Great food, friendly staff and a great place for just your weekend get away. Winterberg is within range 45 min, so there is just a lot to do. If you are a hike fan, this hotel is your visit more then worth. If you are lucky to have snow, this place is mystical.

Reviewed By RoyalIcingThe location by the lake is nice enough, the‚‘lake view‘ they advertise is actually a car park and a road and then the lake in the background. Only from the roof spa do you have quite a nice view. The pool is big enough to actually swim which was a plus. We booked the most expensive loft room at 299€ per night. You would expect that at a price this high the quality of service and care for you as guests is equally high, but we were disappointed. We were not told beforehand about building work in the hotel in the five days of our stay, so we were very unhappy with the noisy drilling which went on all day every day. No peace and quiet and unfortunately no apology or recompense. The room was nice to look at but very impractical. Very complicated light switches, no privacy in the bathroom, the toilet is hidden behind a bookshelf… If you want to spend this much money on a short holiday, you should go somewhere else.

Fantastic stay
Reviewed By Stumpy1974We booked a couple of nights here on our way back from a tour of Germany. It was a five hour drive to Calais in the final morning but with hindsight it was worth it. High up in the beautiful hills this absolute gem of a place is a great place to stay. We chose the bed/breakfast/dinner option which given you’re a bit of a trek from civilisation choosing dinner is a wise option. The food is very traditional but very filling. Drinks were reasonably priced - all in all a two night stay with all food and drink worked out at £380 - £190 a night but you didn’t need to spend on anything else. Breakfast was enough to see you through the day. Some great views and if you enjoy road cycling there are some epic routes in the area. Lots of fast descents and some great climbs. For history fans the Sorpe and Möhne dams are 6 and 24 miles away respectively (think Barnes Wallis!) They themselves (especially Möhne) are worth the visit. The sauna was good too! We’ll definitely return.

Reviewed By BosbeekThe hotel is on the edge of a small hamlet surrounded by hills and forests. We had the family suite at the rear of the hotel and enjoyed a beautiful view of a meadow with horses surrounded by wooded mountainsides. Hotel and hotel rooms have all facilities, including a wellness area and a tv-room with piano. Beds are comfortable (although I had trouble with the very soft pillow), bathrooms are well equipped, hallways are well-lit, etc.The breakfast is rich in choice: cheese, meat, yogurt, cereals, scrambled eggs. Everything works perfectly and offers a solid environment for the elderly as well as for parents with young children. In the immediate vicinity - also in walking distance - are plenty of restaurants where one can dine. Are you willing to go further, be sure to visit Langscheid (less than 20km) located at the Sorpesee.

Gemütliches und sehr gepflegtes Landhotel mit Restaurant und Biergarten, Bierstube und schönem Wellnessbereich mit Sauna. Schöne Lage direkt am Dorfbach. Die Chefin ist eine sehr gute Köchin und serviert ein umfangreiches Angebot mit regionalen Speisen. Das Hotel ist seit Generationen familiengeführt, wurde immer wieder umgebaut und modernisiert. Tagungsräume mit perfekter Technik und abteilbare Räume bieten den idealen Platz für individuelle Veranstaltungen, Hochzeiten und Familienfeiern.

It has become a home away from home. The quality of the food is exceptionally good. I would highly recommend a visit.

Great hotel in very beatifull location
Reviewed By filovoI visited this hotel during my bussines trip. Hotel, reception everything was clean and ok. Even receptionist didnt speak english we manage it:) price for one night with dinner was 62€ breakfast was very good, with wide range of meals.. including fresh coffee room was clean and ok - bathroom was a little bit strange because to enter shower you must cross 30-40cm wall :) nice location...picture attached

If you read all the reviews you will get a very good picture of what to expect, then times that by 10. It is an experience of the likes we have never come across in a B&B. The B&B is set in an area of outstanding beauty with forests & lakes all within walking distance or you can travel to near by towns to experience what is on offer. We were recommended to see the castle at Altena, which we spent a day there & it was a superb day. We were blown away by the location of the B&B & the warm welcome we received from our amazing hosts ( Ulla & Michael ). We had the 'basic ' blue room which suited our needs but it is far from 'basic' everything clean & very comfortable, we had 4 great nights sleep. Like I said if you read previous reviews you will get an idea of what the breakfast is like, we have never had a breakfast like it, there is so much on offer you will not leave hungry & the tastes are superb. We really hope to come back (hopefully on motorbike) as it is definitely the best B&B we have stayed in & in such a lovely area. An absolute Gem. Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit zu super Konditionen
Reviewed By Herr_M_aus_BSIm Vorfeld meiner kleinen Wandertour im März hatte ich bereits im Internet nach ruhig gelegenen und günstigen Gasthöfen im Sauerland geschaut und war auf die Pension Ermes aufmerksam geworden. Es sollte ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen sein und auch war mir wichtig, dass man in der Pension zu Abend essen kann. Mehr Ansprüche gab es für ein Wochenende ohne Familie nicht. Die Buchung lief bereits sehr problemlos und in kürzester Zeit hatte ich mit Frau Ermes per eMail alle Einzelheiten geklärt. Ich konnte freitags bereits am Vormittag das Zimmer beziehen. Die Pension ist ordentlich und sauber, nicht mehr und nicht weniger. Ich denke für einen Übernachtungspreis inklusive Frühstück von 35 € mehr zu erwarten wäre vermessen. Trotz Zimmer zur Straße hin war es nachts überhaupt kein Problem bei offenen Fenster zu schlafen, da dort kaum Autos fahren. Das Frühstück war reichhaltig und für einen anteilig ausgewiesenen Preis von 5 € absolut top. Mein besonderes Highlight war das Abendessen am Samstag, nachdem ich tagsüber etwas über 20 km gewandert war. Für 11,90 € gab es eine Suppe, danach ein unglaublich gutes Zigeunerschnitzel mit wahnsinnig guten Pommes und anschließend Eis. Dazu regionales Landbier für etwas über 2 € das Glas. Hier vergebe ich definitiv einen Bonuspunkt. Etwas negativ aufgefallen ist der sehr penetrante Zigarettengeruch im EG-Durchgangsbereich zu den Zimmern (wobei zu sagen ist, das davon weder in den Zimmern noch in der Gaststube etwas zu merken ist; als ehemaliger Raucher hätte ich das sofort gerochen). Alles in allem vom Preis- Leistungsverhältnis sehr gut. Wer einfach nur mal ein oder zwei Tage ausspannen und ein bisschen wandern möchte, der ist hier gut aufgehoben. Und nicht vergessen: Zigeunerschnitzel mit Pommes bestellen!
