Excellent Stay
Reviewed By dougsQ6639OLLast week I stayed at the Cambria in Summerville SC while in the area for a golf outing. I can't say enough positives about this facility. I travel throughout the country on a regular basis. Typically I can find an issue at a hotel within 4 minutes. I couldn't find anything negative to say after 4 days at this hotel. The staff, the room, the commu itu areas, parking, etc all greatly exceeded my expectations for the rate I paid. My friends stayed at a $800/night hotel in Charleston and didn't have the experience I did for $130/night. Outstanding experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to the Charleston area.

The front desk people were great, and helpful….also very clean. Good breakfast. Wish we had stayed here for our 2nd trip…big mistake to stay at a slightly less expensive hotel.

Safety and security issues
Reviewed By charlessS7581DNMy room had been gone in too and the hotel staff treated this safety and security issue as non-existent. I even requested that they read the lock to see who had gone in my room and that the camera system be reviewed. They didn't care about me and my wife. Additionally the plumbing in the bathroom was substandard. I had to work on the toilet myself. It appears that they have no maintenance there.

Reviewed By lovingretirementat55We stayed 2 nights on the 4th floor. Comfortable, clean room. We asked for a room away from any pets (so we would not hear dog barking). However, the second day we saw a dog in a room nearby and the next morning we heard a dog barking. There is some lack of water pressure from the shower, but it did its job. Both mornings we went for the breakfast offered, which was okay the first morning. There was some fruit, coffee/tea, wrapped omelettes, sausage bisquits, cereal, waffles. When we got to breakfast 30 minutes before closing time the second morning there was nothing to eat except cereal but no milk or juice; the 'hot water' for tea was barely warm; there was no more waffle mix to make waffles. We asked the staff and were provided some apple juice, which we appreciated. The breakfast curtain was pulled closed at 8:56 am. Having said all this, we would stay again- it's clean and the staff were pleasant. But we wouldn't depend on a great breakfast.

Modern & Clean Stay
Reviewed By LoreenNYWe booked the room for one night and checked out. We liked it so much we came back that evening and stayed again. I was so impressed with the look and cleanliness of the property. The room was small, but everything was modern and renovated. The breakfast options were plentiful and the coffee was excellent. Bed was comfortable and darkening blinds made the room perfect for a nice deep sleep. The Avid is an excellent addition to the IHG brand.

Very disappointed
Reviewed By sandyCummingThis was the 2nd time we needed a hotel in Summerville…this time for 4 nights. This hotel was a little lower priced than one we previously used….so, my mistake…booked it. They gave us a room with the window and room overlooking the roof of the next door school. I declined to accept it. We were there very early…and the location was unacceptable. They gave me a hard time until I told them to totally cancel my 4 nights, and we would go to a different hotel. They gave us another room on the right side of the hotel, but with Queen bed’s instead of a King. We were ok until the toilet wouldn’t flush at 10 pm. Who came up….the desk clerk…not a maintenance person. We had to move everything at 10 pm. The next day, with the manager intervening, gave us a King with a good view. He said he would take off one nights room fee, but when we checked out it had not been done. They finally took it off. The hotel is ok if you’re on the right side of the hotel. Otherwise you’ll be facing a school rooftop. Too many problems for us. We will probably not use HIE again if there are other options.

Quick to resolve problem
Reviewed By icatladyThis is a beautiful hotel and is well maintained. The Breakfast was excellent. I really felt at home. But, I needed to use the kitchen during my stay and I had no pans, insufficient silverware, dishes and glasses. When I called for assistance, one of the managers named Eric really came to the rescue. He immediately obtained most of the items plus went out and bought a set of pans for my room. He delivered the items himself. He is a very intuitive, kind man who noticed I was upset about things other than the missing ammenities! He took the time to listen and talk with me which really helped. Now, THATS SERVICE! He was staying late to help me get what I needed and still cared enough to listen when I really needed it. If all hotels had someone like him around, they would improve immensely. I will be staying there again for sure!
