The Ideal B&B?

Reviewed By joys59

The ideal B&B? Could well be. Furnished to a high standard, the accommodation was clean and well-maintained, and especially comfortable. Unfortunately, we could only stay for two nights, but that was long enough to appreciate all the effort that has gone into making this an excellent place to stay. The breakfasts are simply outstanding, and Michelle and David’s recommendations for evening meals are equally as good. We dined exceptionally well at the Creel Inn (Catterline) and the Quayside, Gourdon. Walks in and around the local area offer hours of relaxation with much more being available if you’re willing to drive a short distance. For example, the steep cliffs of Fowlsheugh (RSPB) are a few minutes away by car where, depending on the time of the year, you can see the spectacular sight of tens of thousands of sea birds, including kittiwakes, guillemots, razorbill and puffins. Looking forward to a future visit.

Wonderful Stay

Our hosts at Arduthie House couldn’t have done more to make our stay more comfortable. They were always available to answer any questions we might have and also run the tea room, which was tried and tested by us.  The whole house was full of light from the large windows Including our lovely bedroom with cosy beds.  If we could have stayed longer we would have enjoyed the gorgeous lounge more, just right for relaxing and reading in.  Breakfast either continental or cooked was just perfect.  The house has a delightful front garden to catch the sun in and is close to Stonehaven Market Square, local shops and a few minutes from the sea.  Thank you! Nice place and an exceptional view

Reviewed By stufromthesim

First impressions of this hotel were not encouraging; arriving as I did during a football match which was being vigorously supported. Finding it was easy, parking was fortuitous as there happened to be someone leaving as I rolled along the harbour. There are plenty of spaces along the harbour front but given the fact the harbour is very popular it does seem to be full most of the time. Check in was ok although the policy appears to require card number and CCV number written on the same form which was too risky for my liking but prepayment should have resolved that issue. My room was delightful. Spacious and well appointed although some plugs near the bed would have been nice. The view was beautiful and the bathroom well appointed. No air conditioning but with a window overlooking the harbour I could open wide and look out of I certainly wasn’t complaining. The noise from the football lasted only as long as the match and the rest of the night was peaceful. Easy access out of hours with a door from the back alleyway. I didn’t partake in breakfast so cannot comment although the breakfast set up in the restaurant looked appealing. All of the staff I encountered were all very pleasant. Would happily stay here again in future.

Our room was really cute and extremely clean; I don't think I've ever stayed anywhere so clean and I'm very picky. Our hosts were welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. The bathroom is huge with a roll top bath and shower. Lovely breakfast of your choice. Very quiet and convenient.

Looking at the website for this hotel it really did tick all the boxes , beware of glitzy marketing. To be fair my room was advertised as small and cosy and it most certainly was that . No sea view in room nine, just a frosted glass that when opened looked straight into a wall ! Walls very thin so you could hear other rooms flushing toilets. Food only served till 8pm and was ok , breakfast good. Ok for a night but better places nearby
