Very clean, great friendly service, awesome location, 5 minute walk to tram, big room - would definitely return! We stayed with our 8 year old, there was plenty of room for him to move around. Very warm and comfortable.

Beautifully refurbished hotel in a great location with brilliant staff and couldn't fault the breakfast. being in a hotel obviously you will get noisy patrons and there was a wedding one night. Biggest issue was a spotlight outside the bedroom window on to the roof shining in at night, i contacted front desk to be told sorry, my partner opened the window and turned it off at the power point, happy we could sleep then.

Visited the Cosmo as we were seeing a show at the Palais so decided to make a weekend of it. I gave this hotel an average score because it was not brilliant but accommodated us well. The room was clean, the bed was soft (a little too soft for me) we had everything we needed, maybe a larger cake of soap would have been better or 2 of those little ones but all in all was ok. Handy 5 minute walk to the Palais theatre and a hop skip and a jump from Acland St. I would stay here again but only if I couldn't find a brilliant hotel.

Had a terrible time trying to get heater in room to work. My husband had a shower before we went out in cold room, when we returned at 11.30pm we finally got it to work, weren't game to turn it off during the night. On booking we were not offered any opportunity for car parking, had to use a car park at an adjoining hotel. The bathroom did not have an exhaust fan, finger prints on the man hole that was above the shower. No list of restaurants near by. Don't think we will use the facility again.

Stayed there for only 3-4 nights while moving to Melbourne, the location is very convenient, close to cafes and shops and St Kilda attractions such as the Lune Park and Palais Theatre. There is a bar downstairs, the stuff was a bit 'how ya goin' but that's all right I guess as times were not super optimistic with the COVID situation in Melbourne and stuff

Stayed as a last-minute business traveler. Price was very affordable, and I soon learned why. Extensive building works made everything very difficult to navigate- understandable. However, the setup with parking was a nightmare, as you need to checkin before you park, and need a roller door fob to access car park. Lifts don't go back to the car park (its took 2 lifts to find my room), so thank God I didn't put my key in the box before retrieving my car. Room was clean, but the grubby, worn remotes are not very covid-friendly. Even checking out was difficult, as you need the fob to get to the check-out box. Possibly the most convoluted security setup I have seen, and I have stayed in some pretty rough places around the world. Certainly don't book if you have any mobility issues, small children, vision impairments or claustrophobia....

My wife and I had a nice stay here a few weeks back. It is pretty centrally located and reasonably priced which are the redeeming features. The location and rooms definitely look nicer in the photos, the rooms whilst large and well appointed are very old and worn… dented fridges, damaged furniture, bedside lights that don’t work etc. it’s all perfectly liveable it’s just not what I expected from the photos. Staff were friendly but the place just needs some TLC. If you think this is a nicely restored boutique hotel you’ll be disappointed, but if you’re seeking conveniently located, reasonably priced accomodation with low expectations it will be perfectly suited.

Crest on Barkly Hotel is located right behind No. 1 St Kilda Road Melbourne. Just 8 minutes from Melbourne's Central Business District. Our apartments are all fully self contained, you will find all the facilities you will need to feel at home away from home. Great for families, long stays and more.
Stayed on a Saturday night in a two bedroom apartment, which was in an old building within walking distance of actual hotel. Check in took ages. The man behind the counter had to personally walk to the room to see if it was clean and ready. I was gob smacked to be required to pay for the apartment up front and also had to pay $300 security deposit and was charged $40 to park two cars. Almost $1000 for a one night stay. Still waiting for $300 to return to me (supposedly will happen within 7 days). A woman (one of many) waiting for attention at the counter mentioned to me someone had tried to break into her apartment and the hotel did nothing about it. I asked a staff member who told me there was nothing on the hotel's CCTV footage and she could call the police if she wanted to. This set off alarm bells but i had a booking and it was too late to change. Once i entered the apartment i noticed a used nappy in the bath room bin. The apartment was other wise clean but definitely on the older side. The door was open by key card only (no other security) so we used chairs against the door before retiring for the night. Beds were comfortable. Good hot water pressure and there was a spa in the bath room which was good. The car park is terrible very tight and small and impossible for larger cars to park! I was stuck and unable to back out for almost an hour as another car was trying to exit the car park! There is limited car parking out side the under ground car park. For $20 per car i would have been better off else where, given the stress of maneuvering the car into the extremely tight spot. The best thing about this place is the cafe down stairs which serves delicious coffee and other assorted goodies. Also, the Indian man behind the counter who helped me take my bags to my apartment was very nice. For the money i paid, and the stress of parking, worrying about a potential break in and getting my $300 back, i would not stay again.
