Family business started in 1947 with 2 beautiful luxurious houseboats among the Himalayas on Dal lake of Srinagar Bed. Our services include traditional Indian meals and Shikara boat crossings to land. All suite rooms with WiFi, television, hot water, central heating in winter and lake & mountain facing balcony. We also arrange day trips and treks.

A wonderful stay experience
Reviewed By shikhasingh19I traveled to Kashmir solo for a weekend and staying at New world guest house was the best decision I made for this trip. The place is clean, beautiful and has every facility in a budget price. Rooms are spacious, with attached washrooms. There was a common hall and balcony overlooking garden, which I could use anytime. The hosts here are wonderful people and went out of their way to make sure I had a comfortable stay. I had the most wonderful time in Kashmir because Mr Bashir introduced me to the right people to explore Srinagar with. He even helped me plan my trip around Srinagar. I couldn’t have asked for anything more, this was one of my best stay experiences ever. I felt at home for those 3 days. Can’t wait to go back for longer. Also, the tea and food offered was really good.

Lovely Houseboat Experience
Reviewed By lissome_lassHouseboat Snowgoose is located on the backside of Dal Lake, not easily spotted. However once you're inside on board it's a very cozy and lovely place. Javed the owner is exceptionally welcoming, hospitable and made our stay feel like a home away from home. My visit here was during peak tourist season and I had a terrible experience booking Houseboats through booking.com that's when I managed to make a reservation with Snowgoose and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Whilst it's not extravagant or fancy, it's beautifully decorated with traditional Kashmiri interiors, and the house boat comprises of 3 deluxe rooms, a dining area and a living room to spend quality time with family & friends. Outside is a porch which overlooks the lake and also has steps going down incase you need to hop onto a shikara which is also something Javed can arrange in your package rather that going to the main shikara stands and negotiating yourself. Will certainly recommend Snowgoose for budget travellers who are looking for a comfortable, warm & friendly experience on a houseboat while in Srinagar.

Like a fairy tale
Reviewed By Shaghayegh NWe received a very nice welcome with their special tea early in the morning. The owner is a true gentleman with great manners who can give you an idea of the life in Kashmir. The boat is perfect for groups. We also joined the tour provided by the boat which was very joyful and well organised. But I think there was a misunderstanding in the booking rules and the only thing I would advise other travelers is fixing the prices so that there are no extra tips to pay to hundreds of people that might be involved in serving you! It was a half board stay and we enjoyed their breakfast, probably the best breakfast we had in India because of their tasty fresh cheese and bread. Also I'd say we really enjoyed the dinner but would have preferred some sides too

Terrible stay
Reviewed By Madhusree_Ghosh1We booked S group of Houseboats from Booking.com. We were 4 people and chose one 4-bedroom on the Houseboat. When we reach, the shikara took us to a houseboat called Switzerland which is apparently a part of S groups. Upon entering, the owner told us he is giving us two rooms instead of one as these are double bedrooms. We had no problems with that. But there were layers of dust on everything in one room, the carpets were torn, bathrooms dirty, the commode was broken and 't the flush didn't work. The other rooms had used glasses and tissues all over. When asked to clean, the owner said we can't ask him to do that, he's not a waiter. The rooms didn't match the pictures given on Booking.com. When we decided to not continue our stay beyond one night (we booked for two nights), he refused and said we have to pay in full. We made a deal with him and left the next morning. It wasn't a pleasant experinece at all.
