Only stay here if you do not mind bottom-of-the-line hotels with ice cold shower water (with bucket and pail)... a leaky sink... a squeaky bed and a TV with very poor reception. I knew what when entering into the lobby the kind of rooms it must have... but was traveling solo and there was no where else to stay in town... so I paid for my room and dealt with the conditions. Bottom line... not a place to stay for your honeymoon.

You are better off going to any other place such as Southern Leyte Divers or any place and save money. I want to try to keep my review full of chaos as simple as possible so I would just enumerate all reasons. 1. No Wifi. No Globe Signal. Like almost zero Globe data connection. However if you already have a SMART or Talk N Text sim with loaded data, you are in luck because there is decent connection there. However, I noticed there is a SmartBro around the area and employees said it is not for guest use? Only for the owner I assume? That is sad. 2. Cockroaches in bathroom. No joke, pictures are there to prove enough. These friendly roaches at least try to hide behind the window so they avoid getting slapped. 3. Do not get Family room. There is one bed that feels way different and worse than the other two beds, it is very “springy” and does not feel soft at all. Had a hard time sleeping with it. Bedsheets have holes and torn. Asked staff for a replacement, but they dont have any replacement. Plus cockroaches hiding nicely behind the beds. Did not take picture because wanted to slap it straight. Here are some pictures of the drawers filled with cob webs, lots of dust on some unseen areas covered by furniture, and unfinished paint job at the bathroom? Toilet seat is very broken and small. No bidet. 4. Power interruptions? It is appreciated there was a generator but it is not hidden well so it was very noisy that disturbed my sleep. 5. Do not get room with kitchen, although pretty spacious and has 2 big beds, but really looks unfinished judging by the very poor paintjob and poor furnishing. To make things worse, the bathroom/kitchen has a window LITERALLY BY THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENTRANCE GATE that can be seen easily by visitors. 6. Overpriced food but very delicious. Although I have to admit this disastrous experience has been a bit chaotic, does not disappoint. It is super delicious. However, fix your pricing please, I think 750 pesos (15 USD) for almost all chicken dishes is too expensive. However, the chicken curry is a must try. 7. NOT HANDICAP FRIENDLY. This is not recommended for people with physical disabilities. No wheel chair can get in to almost any room because almost every room needs stairs except the 2 rooms on the tower. And a super rocky, steep, barely any handrails to hold on to which is literally an accident waiting to happen just to go to the beachfront. My stay at Padre Burgos Castle was during April 2021 which is still COVID-19 season. However its redeeming factors are its beautiful clean beach (super beautiful there is many marine life not from afar.) And delicious overpriced food. I hope all this mess just happened just because of this pandemic season. Paying for 3500 pesos (70 USD) for this is chaotic mess is probably fine but it was only 50% off because of pandemic season?? Does this mean I get less clean room just because its cheap from its original price of 7000(?) (130 USD) I expect better accomodation and service after pandemic season because they charge way too overpriced for it. And again, perfect tourist trap.

A good visit to a new place to the only 3 star hotel in Southern Leyte

Reviewed By TheLegendofTime

I sponsored 3 families from Canada, flew down visiting all parts of the Philippines from Mountain Provinces - Sagada , Underground River Palawan, El Nido, Coron, Famous BoraCay, Cebu City, Bohol, and Famous Southern Leyte notorious for its Typhoons. I chose this place because it had many of the amenities that it listed. I could have stayed at newer resorts like the Dive Resorts near Padres on the Sogod Bay side. I found this place very secluded, well hidden, very quiet, staff helpful. The rooms were very clean and cold in a good way. the air cons have no black molds which is a huge plus!!! Coron had to be the worse overrated place for accommodations. someone spoke the rating and not being close to a Marriott, lol too funny! hey buddy your in the provinces not in a major metropolitan and that hotel chain that im a elite with all their properties including Fairmont are definitely not priced as low as this place. Yes the wifi could use improving but the Philippines is notorious for Globe and Smart Wireless causing a huge monopoly that shows LTE but barely a 2G with too many people using it for video messaging. Again , the province do not have fibre optik internet. There is now Starlink satellite internet the hotel can get but costly at $100us but gives true 160gbps compared to the best 2gbps offered in the nearest town of Maasin . you have to remember most people dont have good paying jobs where nurses and hospital personnel in the provinces only make $10-$8us a day having to work long 6 days a week with terrible supervisors and managers like Sogod Hospital pharmacy department, thats a story for another time. One person wrote leafs fell in the pool in the afternoon, what the heck! go find a rooftop pool in Makati , lol. Hey the best part of this hotel is the pool. honestly it has two big pools. onefor kids and infinity pool at the back with a long waterfall. i invited a family who never seen or swim in a swimming pool, yes it cost me to add them swim for a few hours, who cares, hotel has to make money cleaning up. The same girl wrote there was no stairs to the beach, the beach is full of pebbles not that great and full of kids that have nothing to do except harass people if the guest would go to the beach. The Hotel is located at one of the poorest provinces people in all of the Philippines, These people work the hardest and never complain. 99% have never tried a beef hamburger so its unjustly that anyone tears this place apart. ive stayed in worse places that had diseased mosquitos deep in the dangerous jungles of Palawan and mountain provinces near Sagada. i would give this place 3 stars. it does need a new owner that couldcreplace the foam mattresses to real pillowtop mattresses from S&R (Costco Kirkland brand) , it needs to replace all its 4k fluorescent lightbulbs to warmer yellowish 2700k led bulbs. white bulbs dont give a hotel a warm inviting feeling. it should have extra staff to go around to say and talk to people including walking up to guess as they drive into the driveway, this goes a long way and would give this hotel a better rating and a hotel that would be always full after a years time from good reviews. Would i stay here again, for a temporary safe stay with a pool, most definitely . im a guy who fell in love with the Philippines and yes i hate drivers who make their own rules, drivers driving on the wrong side of the road , rice on the roads to dry , workers painting the middle line in darkness, the many ghosts that crosses the road at night from the deaths of the Yolanda Typhoon , the loudness scariest come-alive jungle north of the famous Philippines Highest Agas-Agas bridge where your windshield constantly fogs up at night from the humidity. ive never felt taken advantage in All of Leyte but im told its a different story north of Tacloban . As a white mindful and kindful big hearted soul who is very giving, i found this part of the philippines the most loveable people !! from a Guy from Vancouver Canada who visits Asia and makes sure he stops in the provinces to enjoy palm trees and Mabuhay feeling !!

Our accommodation has been designed with quality and comfort in mind. Since opening in February 2006 all of our guests have been impressed by the quality of our accommodation. Our cottages are equipped with air-conditioning and a fan and each cottage overlooks Sogod Bay, just a few metres from the shore.Similarly, the resort staff have all been hand picked to ensure that our guests feel welcome and our restaurant serves a variety of cuisines.Last, but certainly not least, the Sogod Bay Dive Resort is at the forefront of a number of environmental initiatives designed to maintain and enhance the local dive environment. Specifically, our resort is the sole sponsor of four recently established marine sanctuaries, three of which are within either walking distance or a ten minute boat ride of the resort.

This place is a gem! The diving is fantastic, with so many healthy and beautiful corals. An amazing life underwater! The owner and staff is very helpfull, and arranged transport and everything else. There is nothing else to do but diving and relaxing, what was what we were looking for. The food is good, and rooms are nice clean and great, located few meters from the ocean, so you can hear the calming waves at night. We stayed one week, and would love to come back. It is a nice professionel place, and the diving sites are spectacular (been diving allover asia).

Nice Hotel but Staff are Very UNPROFESSIONAL they made our experience very UNCOMFORTABLE. We Rented Two Rooms 1 Family and a Regular. I had to cut Our stay short and moved to a different Hotel. We do understand their rules of how many People can stay in each Rooms and we paid extra when we had someone staying over. But when the Receptionist asked me Every day how many people were staying in the Room? For me that was just unacceptable. they watch every move we made felt like we were walking on an Egg Shell. Second Problem was the Shower was not working right so we had to take a Bucket Shower. Third was Ants were Crawling all over the Bed, and on to the Breakfast table and we had to ask the front desk for a Wi-fi Voucher Every day?!?

AWFUL- DO NOT STAY- SCAM

We have been scammed! The resort cancelled our trip one day before we were due to arrive because of a 'broken boat'. They assured us we would get a refund if we cancelled the trip on booking.com, which we did so. Since then they have failed to refund our trip, have ignored most our messages and any messages that have been replied to have been rude. Please be aware this place will scam you out of your money so I would be very wary if you decide to book. It is such a shame as my partner and I were looking forward to our stay, but feel have been left scammed.

It’s a little tricky to get there, but you can book transportation from the ferry to get to the resort. It might be a little bit more pricy, but at least you don’t have to worry about anything. The place is spotless. Food is great and PLENTY! Often we would just eat breakfast and dinner, and maybe have a small snack. Ralf is straight forward, so of you are from the US or Canada you might have to get used to his direct ways, but he was super nice with us. He is a „what you see is what you get“ kinda type. No talking behind your back. Which we really appreciate. He is very nice too when someone is scared of anything. My husband was worried about diving but he had a great time with Ralf. Ralf also cares about the animals and the reef. He is 100% diver and loves the ocean. We were really lucky. We went out three times and saw whale sharks twice. He will also try to send you out when there are no other tourists. We had a wonderful time. His crew is lovely, and so is his wife. We were lucky so at the time we were there they were only a few guests = it felt very exclusive. We want to thank you all for a great time. Especially sending my brand new Lycra shirt to Cebu (I was stupid enough to leave it in the room). We wish you all the best in these hard times for all travel related businesses! 3 Days Christmas Trip with Family

Reviewed By demureblancheo

Since this pandemic happened, me and my family didn’t have a chance to have a family outing. So, my parents planned to have a 2 days and 1 night stay at this particular resort which is just 1hr drive from our home. We are only 4 in the family so my mother reserved a room with two beds, but when my mother is talking to the resort representative who will likely make the reservation, she told my nanay that the Resort is offering a promo. Their promo is 50% off in their accommodation per day plus if you will opt to stay for 2nights you can avail their additional promo for one night stay for free, 2+1 promo. So yea, it was a good first impression for us. When we arrived at the resort, there was no bell man or representative to assist us with our bags but that wasn’t new to me. We get our keys and put our things in the room. Well, the room was pretty nice, the air conditioner was working pretty well and the ambiance felt like you’re home. We had the unli samgyupsal for our dinner, yes you have the grilling pan and stuffs but I can’t really feel the ambiance compared when you dine-in in a korean restaurant like Samgyupsalamat or Romantic Baboy. But the other food that we prder like the fries, their pancit and their clubhouse was quite delicious. The pool was good but not great, the good thing about it is that the area or the position where the pool is located is perfect, in the sense that you can view the sea but at the same time you are being surrounded by coconut trees. The sea was also crystal clear even though it's not a white sand beach. They also have free use of Kayaks which adds a lot of fun. One of the highlights in our stay was the service of their housekeepers, they are very accommodating and you feel comfortable whenever you need their assistance or if you ask for room service. But on the contradictory side of our stay was their tap water, I mean like the water running out from their faucet it literally taste like water with salt ??. I hope they will look at it as a priority because they are one of the most known resorts here in our province and if they won’t take action for that they might lose their reputations. Those are just small details of the resort but will affect a huge impact on their brand. Overall, our stay was pretty amazing.
