The hotel Hirschen offers you 36 individually furnished guest rooms with art, design and antiques and free WLAN in all areas of the hotel. Besides there is a high class restaurant for fine dining that gives you a nice variation of regional specialities accompanied by a good glass of wine out of Mr. Fetz's large and special wine cellar. Tuesday and Wednesday the a la carte restaurant is closed, but hotel guests are spoiled with a small choice of regional specialities. The wooden made "Walderhaus", a dependence located just behind the hotel offers comfortable and quiet rooms and appartements, fitness facilities, a garage and special spaces for meetings and conferences. Also the nice garden in between is loved by our guests as relaxing area. The Hotel Gasthof Hirschen is situated in the heart of a picturesque valley in western Austria at the border line to Switzerland between the Arlberg and the lake of Constance called Bregenzerwald. This mountain area offers green untouched nature and invites you to relax, breath fresh air and explore hiking, walking, running or biking. The charming village itself - Schwarzenberg - is classified as a historical precinet and is recommended as one of the most attractive villages in Austria. The closest city is Dornbirn, about 15 km away, Bregenz, at the shore of the lake of Constance, with its famous performances during the Bregenz festival right on the lake is close. The well known Arlberg skiing area is in about 45 minutes available by car. Closer skiing areas are Mellau-Damuls and Bodele - Hochalpele, from where you can ski right down to the hotel if there is enough snow. Constructed in 1757 in wooden baroque style the Gasthof Hirschen has been owned by the same family for 8 generations and has given hospitality to many visitors, celebrities (King Maximilian II. of Bavaria stayed here in 1855) and artists for more than 2 centuries. And although some renovations have been done, the spirit and character are still the same. See you soon in Schwarzenberg!
We visited Hirschen for the second time and it was - again - a blissful week of pure enjoyment in every sense. The historic building with its art and lovely features, the lovely town and surroundings, it is all beautiful. My breakfast at the Hirschen is one of the highlights of my stay here. It has been last year and it was again now. The served breakfast options even made it better. Perfectly sized dishes, so refined and tasteful. Also what I truly appreciated was that the children’s menu at night now had a healthy choice option (vegetables of the day with potatoes). Very worth mentioning are the cakes made by the in house patissier that are to die for. I am a lover of mascarpone and the strawberry and blueberry mascarpone tarts were one of the best I have eaten ever… for food lovers that can appreciate the subtle tastes of the variety of dishes this is the place to be as well. All in all I had a wonderful stay, thanks to the whole team that made it happen.

This is a ski resort that offers reasonable priced accommodations in the summer months, with lots of hiking and gorgeous mountain views, right off your personal balcony of your room! Good sized standard rooms, updated, with a nice bathroom. Every room has a private balcony overlooking the Alps. Easy access to skiing or hiking. Very friendly staff and a very good restaurant open year round. It's about a 20 minute drive out of Dornbirn, but well worth the effort to stay high above the city! Spa and exercise facilities are readily available as well.

Location is very nice with picturesque views across the valley and walking trails nearby. Hotel itself is worthwhile staying in summer (expect its much better in winter though), even though its right next to the road. There were very few people when we stayed. Rooms are ok. Well decorated and cozy although layout on the top floor is not the best. Bathroom rather small and 1/2 was under eaves which made using shower a bit awkward. Common areas, restaurant and seating outside rather nice, plus they had table tennis and kids bikes. Restaurant was closed in the evening, morning bfast was sub par even for a vegetarian place. Overall not bad. Nearly 4*, but we stayed in many better similar places in Austria and South Germany so had to give it 3* this time.

We found this place because Bregenz was fully booked. What a pleasant surprise. Situated in beautiful surroundings of the Bregenzer Forest, this small hotel offers a perfect location to take a restful break. The views are magnificent. The rooms, as well as the whole house, are spotlessly clean. The owner extremely obliging and friendly. There is a restaurant offering freshly prepared meals. We felt well looked after and we’re sorry we were only here for one night. Highly recommendable.

we stayed 5 days. The appartment was very clean and very well organized. Kitchen perfect, everything there (we felt lack of microwave, dishwasher not disturbant). Nice and cousy with annimals around the yard. We stayed for skiing and the traveltime of 15 min. to Mellau is OK. The Greber family makes you feel very welcome and hospitality is a great value which they carry in their hart. Do not be scared when driving up to farm from the main road... it is not 2 lanes but in Austria people drive friendly and it is mutural understanding who let who pass who. All together we enjoyed the stay very much.

Apartmenthaus
So gut!
