Hotel Ristorante Cavaliere is in the center of Scario. Ancient and characteristic fishing village, Scario is nestled at the foot of Mount Bulgheria, in the heart of the Cilento National Park, and its houses reflected in the waters of the picturesque Gulf of Policastro. A series of beaches that are opened between the rocks along a coast still untouched, offer visions of incomparable beauty. A few kilometers sharing this wonderful place dall'Oasi Morigerati of the WWF, from Caves Pertosa, ornate with stalactites and stalagmites, Velia from his door with pink and Agora, the imposing monastery of Padula.

The hotel is pretty average. There are two types of rooms: facing the sea and the others facing the other side. Facing the sea is obviously better. Food is average, sometimes it was good and other times it wasn't. The overall service is also average. The whole area is beautiful in terms of sea side location, hence I would reccommend the hotel if you go there with a particularly cheap deal that they tend to offer every now and then.

Casa dei Nonni is a family run bed & breakfast, 3 minutes drive from the charming village of Scario. The house is well positioned on the edge of the Cilento National Park in South Italy and offers a wonderful view of Policastro Gulf. If you enjoy sport, nature and the Mediterranean diet, the B&B is the ideal destination to combine activity with relaxation on beautiful secluded beaches, many only accessible by foot or from the sea, and enjoy the benefits of our organic garden and natural products. At the B&B Casa dei Nonni, we respect the principles of sustainable tourism and focus on promoting cultural and environmental awareness of the natural attractions of Scario and nearby area.. the nature here has a soul of its own!
Casa dei Nonni is a beautifully situated house 1.5 km above the fisher town Scario and a perfect place to stay and explore the Southern part of the Cilento and the Golfo di Policastro. We chose the upper appartment with a roof terrace with a gorgeous view on the Golfo di Policastro. The appartment is very well and tastefully equipped with a kitchen in the appartment and an additional fully equipped one outside in the garden. The large garden is terraced and a good place to relax. Internet is not yet available in the appartments but free wifi in the hosts house nearby. Nicoletta and her brother Giuseppe are very good and helpful hosts. Nicoletta owns a small boat and invited us to a boat trip to the fabulous small beaches and grottos along the coast towards Marina de Camerota that you can't reach otherwise. Beside swimming in the pure water we made beautiful hikings (e.g. on the Monte Bulgheria) and also trips along the Golfo, e.g. to Maratea from where you experience the most beautiful sunset, or more into national parc e.g. to the Bussento Grottos. The lungomare of Scario is a nice place for the evening passegiato and you find good bars, restaurants and pizzerias. And, at least in September and October, it was not tourist overloaded.

Located in the Cilento National park and directly on the beach. You will live immersed totally in the mediterranean "macchia": completely invisible from sky, earth and sea. Last inhabited place before the Marine protected area Coast of Infreschi and Masseta.
Our family spent the first two of August 2016 here and had a delightful time. Our little boys (7 and 4 years old) adored it and I don't think my wife and I have had such a relaxing holiday. It's not cheap, but what you get is worth it--easy access to three private beaches that will all take your breath away. The second beach in particular, which is about a 10 minute walk from the bungalows, is just stunning. Crystal clear water that's chalk full of fish and not too deep, basically a huge, natural swimming pool ensconced in a rocky alcove with a medieval tower perched at the top. The bungalows are a little rustic, it's true. But they have everything you need and we were very comfortable--even my wife who is by no means a "bungalow" person and was super reticent about the place before we arrived. The whole place is under a canopy of trees and vegetation that keeps it nice and cool all day long. Paired with the breeze blows more or constantly from the sea, the bungalows are nice and cool all day long. I highly recommend getting the "mezza pensione" for adults. The food is excellent, they always have vegetarian options and there's a good menu for kids as well. Don't get the mezza pensione for kids younger than 10-11--it's more food than they can eat. I also highly recommend going on the excursions. The "Cilento" is an amazing part of Italy and the national park which surrounds the place is well worth exploring. The people who worked their were lovely and really made us felt at home, especially the kids who were more or less running around on their own by day two. It's also right next Scario, which is a charming little beach town. To get there, you can call a car that will take you to Scario and then back to La Francesca whenever you want for a flat fee of 10 euros. Anyway, went on longer than I intended, but if you're looking for a typically Italian beach holiday in a totally unique setting, you can't stop looking now. This is it.
