Wonderful stay and a beauty in the alps
Reviewed By Tim DThis hotel is worth twice the cost. The staff was very friendly, the location was perfect, and the food was absolutely amazing. They even have to go bags for your food to take with you when you go hiking. As you exit the hotel, you take a left and will end up on a trail up through the Alps. There is a sauna and a foosball table downstairs and the restaurant upstairs offers some delightful meals. Will definitely stay here again and strongly recommend it to others.

Nice stay
Reviewed By IrisbatVery nice hotel with beautiful rooms, friendly people. The swimming pool was very pleasant to spent some time after a walk in the mountains ;-). The food was very delicious and they had special menu's for the children (not everyday). If something that was not good was the extra bed for our daughter (was a pull-out seat) and not so comfortable to sleep on. It would also be interesting if some of the staff should speak English.

The cuisine is of the highest quality, featuring both local and unusual delicacies. We were told the food is being served on antique tables in Montafon parlour. The impressively stocked wine cellar offers an unusual selection of both rare and everyday wines. Although the dining room is not huge, it is still good for big parties. Happy they were able to accommodate our group of 13 people. Kids were very happy with the kids menu (6-9 euro), options - spatzle, schnitzel or hot dogs with fries. Soup was a great appetizer. I loved the fish and risotto dish, rib eye was excellent too.

Ideally sized family-run hotel with top-class restaurant

The location near the Garfreschenbahn is ideal to start your hiking endeavours, also public transport is also right there and runs half-hourly during the summer to get you as far as the Silvrettastausee. In the hotel, there's a 250 square-metre wellness area with steam bath, two different saunas, a Jacuzzi and a spacious rest room ... well a room to rest, not a restroom in case any Americans read this :). When I was there not a lot of people were using the wellness area, so that's way more space per person than actually needed. The restaurant is fantastic: of course all your Austrian dishes are covered, but there's also Steak menu with locally sourced meat (that they dry age in-house) and a range of Vegetarian options. Don't let the three star rating fool you, it's much closer to 4 stars.

Nice hotel by Silveretta Montafon
Reviewed By hvnairLovely family owned hotel situated right in between two of the main gondola entry points (Gottipohl and Gashom) of the silveretta montafon ski resort. The hotel itself was clean modern mountain lodge. Top notch buffet breakfast and 5 course dinner. The desserts are well worth saving room. They were kind to arrange a party with gluwein and cookies for Xmas eve and some entertainment. Great hot water, excellent ski room facilities, and plenty of parking. Only improvement would be more storage for suitcases and belongings to help keep minimal clutter. As for location, you will need to take a bus (less than 10 minutes) to get to either lift. The bud station for both ways is only about 100m from the hotel entrance. Generally, the buses run every 5 min, but during our stay (perhaps due to Covid) it seemed like about 30-40 min. We mostly drove to the lifts, but I took the bus once, and it is very easy to use and drop off to the lifts is closer than the parking lots. I’d happily recommend this lodge for your ski holiday.

Reviewed By vesilfMy strong recommendation for you is avoid apartment 'FERIENWOHNUNG LUCA'. It's located in separate building, in the basement, under owners private garage. It looks nice only in the pictures and their web-pages do not mention that it's in the basement. There are only small windows on the bedrooms and only window in living room / kitchen is in front door and you can see only external stairs up from that window. Might otherwise work for skiing trip, but this apartment also smells like basement (mould was also visible in ceilings). We could not stay there longer than one night. Also cleaning was quite poor and owners were not willing to fix problems or give us better room or apartment. Very poor service attitude and my worst experience in Austria ever by far.

Four hectares to unwind. Berg-Refugium Tanafreida, that is our small house with only 8 apartments on a 40.000 m2 area, high above the valley, directly on the edge of the forest, surrounded by natural meadows and on the sunniest hill of the whole area. Here you come up to come down. Lovingly furnished with details of the apartment history. Daily organic breakfast, delivered to the door or laid out in the apartment. Use all facilities in the house: Sauna, yoga and meditation room, relaxation room, sun terrace, bike garage, game room, ... Use the entire Tanafreida area: 40,000 m² with fireplace, reading corners in the fruit meadow, meadow sauna*, deck chairs, ... Services that contribute to the vacation in peace: from gastro-taxi to "Book a Cook" and soothing massage in the house. In addition: High quality bed linen, towels and bathrobes. We change them fresh every week. Sauna towels are changed daily upon request. Kitchen equipment in organic quality: spices, oil and vinegar, tea, pads for the coffee machine. But also coffee filters, baking paper and co. Children's equipment: high chair, baby crib, stroller, baby carrier. Please reserve this a few days before your arrival. Noble for body care: from Metzler whey care products from the Bregenzerwald to vanity sets and "to nam khöriga hairdryer". Everything for cleanliness: dishwashing detergent, tabs for the dishwasher, Hangerle, sponge towels, kitchen roll...

Reviewed By Levasseur JThis "Berg-Refugium" is so perfect that we have booked it already twice for our winter vacations. The moment we arrived we felt at home! The owners are very charming, friendly and willing to meet special requests. The attention to detail is impressive throughout the decoration, the art displayed, and the landscaping. Our apartment, which was extremely clean, had all essential amenities and more including a wonderful fireplace! Bedroom was spacious; the bathroom had shower in the bath; the kitchen/living room came with a breathtaking view over the valley and mountains (and large balcony). Great sauna and yoga studio; and a charming rustic "Stöbli" (bar) with a honor system (beer, wine and great schnapps) are also available. They also offer locally made meals including vegetarian options. Very good place to walk our 2 dogs (there is also a very good paved trail along the river in the near-by village. You won't regret booking this place!

The restaurant offers regional, Austrian cuisine with a twist, in a traditional ambiance. After a tasty dinner, the bar invites you to end the day in a cozy atmosphere in front of the fireplace.

Family spring skiing holiday
Reviewed By Niki03We Just spent a week in Sporthotel Grandau with our 3 boys aged 9, 7 & 5. We travelled as a party of four families for some spring skiing having never been to Austria before. This is a beautifully finished family run hotel. We had a large suite of two rooms and two bathrooms overlooking the valley. The room was spacious and finished to a high standard. The mattress / bed was extremely comfortable. The hospitality was as good as we have experienced anywhere. The staff and other guests were very tolerant of what was a large group of young children. The facilities are fantastic with a nice pool and games room for the kids. The manageress Yvonne set the kids up with a movie on a big screen TV in their conference room each evening after dinner. The food in the hotel was of an exceptional standard and there was a nice buzz in the bar for après ski. We were shuttled to and from the gondola each morning and evening and despite the fact that it was late in the season and there had been no recent snowfall the snow was good and most piste were open each day. Best skiing between 8am and 2pm. Would recommend Sporthotel Grandau without reservation as a family friendly destination particularly if traveling with young children.
