We had a bizarre check in where two reseptionists were trying to understand whether our room was ready or not(a room really NEXT to the reseption) and at what time we could go inside. After 20 minutes talking a language that we didn' t understand told us to come back later. The next day at the check out we felt that we should have already gone (reaching the reseption at 11:40)... We didn't really feel welcome.... Anyway the girls at the restaurant were really kind, sweet and helpful, so we have something good to remember.

Reviewed By nebbiaevolleyMy husband and I stayed in this hotel the last weekend. The room was well furnished, cozy and clean. Nothing was missing. Check-in was easy and fast. Very friendly staff. Strategic position near to the Chimsee lake. It seems like it’s worth having breakfast here (unfortunately we didn’t choose this option, but next time we’ll surely try the Neuer café and pastry shop). We had a really nice stay.

Good situation but outdated hotel. Needs an urgent make-over.
Reviewed By 9000GentWhen you arrive by car, check the plan of the parkings on the hotel web site. Otherwise it is confusing. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and gave us some information about the visit of the palace on the herreninsel etc... We had a room in House 2 (100 meter from Hous 1 where the reception is.) Hous 2 : The outside of the building needs to be refurbished. There is an outside lift, whose windows were very dirty...... Not a good first impression. Next to House 2 there is a a warehouse where (old?) mattresses and (old?) furniture were stored. And this in a messy and completely visible way. Really not a lovely sight when you come from the reception to House 2. Make at least sure that this clutter is not visible to customers.(also on the outside there are plastic terrace chairs thrown against the wall) It is furthermore full of weeds among the stones of the "terrace" (not in use) of Hous 2. The room was clean but outdated. The bathroom was also clean but very very small. The toilet was exactly a children's toilet, placed so low. I can imagine that this is a huge problem for elderly people. The shower was with a curtain..... Far from hygienic.... and not done anymore. Furthermore, from the 4 nights we stayed there, we could shower 2 days with nearly cold water. As I read in other much older ratings, this is the case already for some time.... (management hello ?) No change of towels after 4 days. The breakfast : As we had "the luck" that a group of 30 people stayed in the hotel, the breakfast buffet was "nearly empty" when we arrived (4 mornings in a row). The lady of the breakfast was friendly but did not succeed in supplementing the buffet, so one morning asking for bread, every morning asking for fruit salad etc.... The restaurant : the same group of 30 people ate every night in the "Seerestaurant". it is normal that such a group makes a lot of noise, but let such groups have dinner in a seperate room; So we ate there only once. The waiter was a very friendly guy. The food was not bad but not great either. (check my rating of the restaurant in front of Luitpold ; Neuer am See) Conclusion : The situation is good, next to the ships for the Lake. The hotel itself needs an urgent make-over. As well the buildings, the rooms, the garden (full of weeds), the fences of the garden (need urgent painting) as the parking lots give a neglected impression. Short of staff ? e.g : At the entrance of the restaurant there was an ashtray, which was never cleaned in the 5 days we stayed. (My cigarette butts from the first, second etc... day where after 5 days still in the ashtray. (nice view....) The management should give their restaurant menu a look and change and enlarge the offer. Try to avoid Hous 2,Perhaps Hous 1 is better ? (3 stars superior) . I only give 3 stars because the staff is very friendly, otherwise I would be 2 stars.

A delightful place to relax
Reviewed By IanB931Firstly the email exchange over the reservation was very quick and professional even with my schoolboy German from 40 years ago. We arrived early very hot after a long morning's cycle ride and were greeted warmly, with everything explained and shown to our room - around midday. The hotel is not quite waterfront but sort of feels it, as there is only greenery (mostly swampy reeds) and a small sailing club in between. There's a huge terrace with comfy chairs and lots of space between tables. This is the perfect spot for relaxing over long meals, a beer or even a huge ice cream! One or two here have commented that this place is a restaurant with the rooms as an afterthought. But we didn't find that at all. We were given excellent tables and treated very well as house guests. One kind lady who did breakfasts seemed to be in charge of the accommodation and she asked us each day if there was anything she could help with. Very nice. The wifi here is strong and fast and it works on the terrace too. This is so important for non-European travellers. And Visa cards are accepted too! It's about 3km to the ferries to the castle and there are two public beaches with full facilities within 500m. Very good value for money in a peaceful location.

Hotel "Möwe" is directly located at lake Chiemsee. It´s just a 1 minute walk to the harbour and to the water park "Prienavera". The family run hotel offers 12 rooms with shower/toilet, cable-tv, radio, hairdryer and free wi-fi. Parking is for free.

Reviewed By I593NGchrismMarch, 2022: First off, for anyone who has not been to Prien before. Everywhere you look it is picture postcard perfect Bavarian Alps. Absolutely amazing scenery everywhere here. The Chiemsee is really big and my favorite was the late afternoon 2.5h hour boat tour near sunset that tours the entire lake. Plenty of places to rent an e-Bike and tour the lake on well groomed trails and its an amazing ride up to Gstadt for some lunch and back. Now, HOW to get to the hotel when you show up: if using Google maps to navigate to the hotel you'll find that its going to take you onto the "people walking zone only" street on the Scharen. Take it slow and easy and around the corner you'll see the hotel, park across the street, or if using an EV, you can park directly next to the front door! you can take the tiny entrance next to the Schiffarht entry next to Hotel Luitpold, but it is a tight fit for any car. Kevin Urbanek and his wife who run the hotel are amazing hosts and can cater to any issues you may have. He was awesome enough to turn on the EV charger for me during our stay and it worked like a champ, best part, he only charges .38 euro a Kwh, a fantastic price vs. the Shell down in Bernau. As other reviewers have mentioned the breakfast is fantastic every morning and is typical Bavarian style breakfast with a few home made items that are always new and always delicious. I am jealous for any of you going during summer, you'll no doubt be able to eat out back on the garden patio and it will be lovely. The rooms are well appointed and we only had a micro shower in room 16, above the garden, so warning for Americans, the showers are TINY. The beds are comfy and there is plenty of closet space and drawers to pack for your stay. We had a small balcony that was great for sitting out in the sun and reading. The service at the hotel was fantastic and Kevin always has great advice for what to see and do in and around Prien and the Alps. The weather was absolutely gorgeous our week here and would definitely stay again. Minor con: like most German small hotels, there is no one to assist you after about 6pm. The front door is locked and everyone's key can unlock it, so DO NOT LOSE your room key. There is no keycard or phone app for the room, its an old school key you turn in the door. If you are used to American hotel chains that are manned at the counter 24/7, this aint that.

Reviewed By Ks45gtyuThe staff was unpleasant and the room was of a low standard. The hotel is centrally located in the city, which is positive since you do not want to be in the hotel room more than you have to. You can get a lot more nice and pleasant hotel rooms in Rosenheim for the same price! The hotel room was big, but empty. There was also a lack of facilities that were written on the website we ordered from Choose something else.

Reviewed By gimmlliWir waren ein paar Tage im Gästehaus Bauer. Das Zimmer war groß, dafür allerdings auch ziemlich teuer. Alles war sauber. Frühstück war ok, nichts besonderes, aber alles ok. Noch einmal würden wir für diesen Preis nicht kommen.
