Clean well appointed Hotel but dated ..

Nothing really to complain about tbh .. Staff were very accommodating.. breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty .. Great location .. minutes from beeyootiful coastal walk .. sleep quality fine .. Rooms large but in definite need of an upgrade .. As did the corridors etc .. The Inn seems to be a bit of an institution in Port Rush .. needs a bit of TLC !

Clean, New, and Very Nice

Reviewed By Aslanschild2

Our spacious room was spotless, the owners friendly and kind. What more can one ask? Not a quaint place, and no view (it's on the main highway through town), but more like a spanking clean, fully refurbished motel you sometimes see in the U. S. We appreciated all the outlets, the ample desk, and the small refrig for our berries and milk. The King-sized bed was adequately firm, new-seeming, and comfortable. Shower water was too hot and couldn't seem to be made cooler. That would be the only ding, no big deal. We just missed breakfast, but the staff were gracious and brought out a very nice meal for us. Everyone could not have been nicer, nor this lodging more perfect for busy, tired travelers.

We are just back from our amazing stay here and I can’t fault it at all! The staff were all super friendly especially the lovely bartender (sorry we didn’t catch your name!). The spa facilities are great too! Our room was super clean and beds were so comfortable. The best bit of all was the view from the room! Could see the ocean and watch the sunrise if you’re up early enough. Amazing.

Fabulous!

Stayed just for one night but was so tempted to stay for a second!!! We were given a choice of room in their new modern building. Decided to take up the free upgrade. It was just wonderful! Some tweaks still needed - struggled to get electric blind to work, bath mat didn’t fit under shower door and no where to hang a second wet towel but minor complaints in what is a wonderful suite! My only real advice would be to improve pictures. Many pictures look really old fashioned when in fact in the main building it isn’t old fashioned just old and beautiful!! I almost didn’t book it because of the pictures and that would have been a huge mistake!!! Wonderful breakfast delivered to our room the next morning though could have eaten in dining room.

Wonderful Dining Experience

Reviewed By NITom

Our friends from Belfast paid us a visit and as we hadn't been to The Elephant Rock yet we decided to go for lunch. The food and service was amazing. Compliments to the chief and owners for such high standards and at a reasonable price. The dining area and bar is an unusual design but there is something very relaxing about it. As we were leaving the member of staff who attended our table offered to show us the upstairs lounge and outside seating area. It will be delightful to sit there during the summer nights. As we exited the lift we were met by the proprietor who offered to show us a sea viewing room. The decor and view was something else. I think if I had taken a seat at the window I would have had to have been physically removed from the room. The view had everything, the sea, the Skerries and the East Strand. We wish the hotel and it's owners every success as this is what Portrush badly needed. A top class hotel.

Disappointing return visit

Reviewed By Kellypf

Stayed in this B&B last year and delighted with room at that time but the difference a room can make to your experience. This time stayed in rm 6 with friend . Had asked for twin beds as we did not want to share . Got large double bed and a small cot size bed . Room was very old , unkept, wallpaper coming off , dirty corners , a lot of cobwebs ( not new ones) and the bathroom is well unfit for purpose. Its disappointing for me to write this review as staff are really friendly and it is a good location . The room needs stripped and completely redecorated and a new bathroom. It may be cheaper than a hotel however rooms need to be at least fit for purpose . Once this is sorted will def be a good place to stay as they have everything else right.

Restaurant not up to par

Reviewed By d m

Went away the night for my birthday. When we arrived at hotel the only thing I would say initially is that they keep the front door closed so almost looked like hotel was shut and just felt a bit unwelcoming. The lobby was cold so maybe that's why the door was closed, however we had a lovely check in experience and booked a table for the restaurant that night as we were advised it is always busy so it is advisable to book a table. The room we stayed in was basic but large and had everything we needed. it was clean, spacious and comfortable to sleep in and quiet at night. It went downhill from there... As we had booked a table for the restaurant at our check-in we went down at the designated time and they couldn't find our booking. We were standing about 10 mins then we finally got a table. We ordered drinks and nothing was sent to us. Had to keep asking them. Ordered orange dilute for my daughter and they got that wrong and brought down a bottle of sparkling orange. We ordered our starter and mains and told them to bring down my daughter's meal as soon as it was ready and she was hungry . We got starter about twenty mins after we ordered and my daughter had to wait another fifteen mins after that for her dinner. We told them after our starter we are ready for our mains and were told they would bring them down. They didn't come down. Another twenty mins past and we had to ask again. At this stage we got talking to other guests in restaurant who said service is terrible and how they were brought wrong orders etc and people came in after us and were served their meals first. After another twenty mins or so a guy came by and said are we all finished to which point I said we haven't even got our main!! This was now about an hr after initial order. I asked to speak to manager and he said they were under pressure but would bring it out as we are next (bearing in mind other people came in after us and were served first). Then two girls came down to say there was issue with orders and ours was not even cooked yet!!! The manager came down to say it would take ten mins to cook and that they were busy and stressed as some show was on. I listened to everything he had to say and I then said I've heard everything you have to say however there was no mention of a simple apology for inconvenience which would have made the situation a lot easier to take. Other guests were coming over to us to say to make sure we don't pay anything as they watched how we were treated. Guest were saying they had orders wrong and poor service. We finally got mains and the food itself was nice but my appetite was gone at this point. The staff were all new and a few said it was only their second shift. It was badly organised and a simple 'sorry' could have made the issue a lot simpler as I have to say the customer service from restaurant manager is worst I have ever seen..we were advised we would get the mains free and manager said 'i think that's fair' but my daughter was charged even though she had to wait for hers too even when I made it clear about bringing it out soon as it was ready. When I said my daughter was ready for her dessert which is part of set kids menu the waitress said I should have said at start I wanted to order it which I am unclear about as we ordered off the kids menu deal for which the price included the main, drink and dessert??!!!. She said she would have to check if she could have it!!!! Anyway eventually she got her dessert but we ourselves weren't even offered dessert and they just brought down our bill!!! The breakfast in the morning was very nice and was more organised. At check out the woman asked was everything alright to which I said it was apart from the terrible restaurant experience to which she just nodded and said she knew about itand just kept saying sorry about that... Left feeling a bit like ...???!!!!??

A great, clean, friendly and welcoming comfortable B&B

Easily found upon arrival into Portrush, Ian welcomed us earlier than stated check in. He gave us local information to guide our evening dinner choice. Surprisingly he said that he and his sister had only taken over three weeks earlier. That did not show in any way and anticipated comforts were entirely as expected. Recommended
